Anyone reacting to Theocracy gets an immediate thumbs up vote. Best band to arise in the last 20 years (IMO), Christian or otherwise. These guys kinda fall into the same category as King's X in the sense that they should be HUGE. But there are a lot of bands out there these days vying for everyone's attention. So it's easy to get lost in the sea of UA-cam. But thankful for channels like these that give Matt and the fellas some love.
And btw, these guys are a 5 piece band now. In the beginning, Theocracy was a Matt Smith project but as he's made more albums and began touring, he's added more musicians to the band. The following 2 albums after MOS, As The World Bleeds and Ghost Ship, are legitimate collaborations from the entire band even though Smith is still the principle songwriter. I've seen these guys live and they KILLED it. Great, great band.
Matt Smith is a brilliant musician check out his side project too called Project Aegis featuring other powrful singers. Only 3 songs, but for various charities. And the Rest is a Mystery Angel in the Ashes Collide and Spark
To be honest I'm not a huge fan of long songs, thrash or progressive stuff, but Theocracy does is SO well, they're one of my 3 top bands of all time. Amazing stuff.
So lyrically speaking, the song is centered around the Biblical view of humab nature, as in the song the singers speaks about wanting to do right by God, but giving in to the fleshly carnal desires and temptations of this world be voluntarily or not (Romans 7:19). This is definitely why I like this song as its powertrip of a vibe definitely fills you with some type of angst against sin itself and it doesn't take it lightly, thus the awesome intensity of the song.
My favorite of theirs is Nailed from As The World Lies Bleeding, but this is a good effort! The best new God Metal out there. Unfortunately, as with Stryper, early King's X, too Christian for the popularity they deserve...
@@fundyfundametalist6774 Yes, I like them all, but ATWLB is my favorite, also. It used to bug me a bit that this was another "Boston" where Matt is the brains behind everything like Tom Scholz or Kerry Livgren with Kansas, but then I remembered, I LOVE THOSE BANDS so who cares??? But I think the last two albums are best with more "balance" for lack of a better word. And Van Allen Wood is absolutely one of the best metal guitarists out there for anyone right now. These guys need to become rich enough where they can do music full time!
Good review brother, Matt is a talented musician serious to this he believes in the power of music that God created for his glory. Progressive power chords band theocracy is amazing God bless you all from seattle wa US 🎶🎵🎶🎵💙💯✝️🙂👍
I find it strange that everybody who know theocracy loves them. When I recommend things to people then they normally ignore it. With the exception of theocracy. I made the band popular among my friends. But even with all of that and the long time they are around, the band is still so unknown. Any idea why?
This song is killer... Theocracy is amazing band. If I may, song you would want to hear Mirror of Souls (this is insane, long but amazing story telling... good to listen with lyrics)
Wow this is a really good reaction! Some reaction channels just listen to the song, make a funny face, then sign off, but you actually talk about the song and give some interesting comments. Great video man
♫ Great review as usual from another outstanding band brought to light. Theocracy is an American Christian Progressive Power Metal band founded in 2002. Releaed are: Theocracy (2003) / Mirror of Souls (2008) / As the World Bleeds (2011) / Ghost Ship (2016) and several Christmas songs. This to me is Symphonic Power Metal. They remind me of Pyramaze, Teramaze, Symphonity, Power Quest, and (check out) Michael Kiske & Amanda Somerville's "City of Heroes" and "Untitled LP". Keep on Rockin'! ☮
@Metal Crusader666 thanks man.... was trying to find your last reaction request....can you let me know a song you want me to do....will make sure I do it this week
@@iridiumrockandmetalreviews2128 Yes! do Iron Savior with "Stand Up And Fight" such an amazing group/band. and maybe "Titan" by HammerFall if you wanna hear one of their most heavy songs
Another fun video. :) Keep them coming. Try the song I am next. Epic 12 minute plus tune, and about half way through, they do 3 harmonies at once, and its jaw droppingly brilliant. He also sings in a lower register at the start of the song. Glad you liked this one. Also, check out his all star group, Project Aegis. Try the song angel in the ashes. You'll love it. :)
Great video! You got new follower now just because you reacted to my favorite band Theocracy. Yes, Matt Smith can sing lower voices great too. Check out his UA-cam video: Matt Smith - Ghost. It’s not on any album. Edit: sorry, not that one. Ghost is high singing too. His parody song Social Distancing shows a bit some low voices: ua-cam.com/video/znpEUFWYS-I/v-deo.html
Dude, more Theocracy. They rock. As the world bleeds is a great song.

Try Tool.
Theocracy - Alter to the Unknown God

ghost ship is their magnus opus.
Matt Smith the Metal Apostle!!! The guy is one of a kind!

And the Rest is a Mystery
Angel in the Ashes
Collide and Spark
Angel in the ashes is a must!
and they got daniel heimann to sing on the rest is a mystery. totally epic.
The rest is mystery
Great band!! More please!!
Go and do Mirror of Souls. It’s a phenomenal 22 minutes where the legitimate genius of Matt Smith shines
Laying The Demon To Rest is my second favorite Theocracy Song
Mirror of Souls is my favorite.
Yeah he was writing that since high school, awesome
@@DJSchrefflerexact same for me
Nailed, by Theocracy. You're welcome.
As you made the 9 minutes with ease, the 11 minute I Am track should be a complete breeze :)
I SO LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!
I love Theocracy! My favorite song of theirs is I Am but it's all good!
Good analysis! Theocracy is a beast! Way less respected and known than what they deserve. More Theocracy please!
To be honest I'm not a huge fan of long songs, thrash or progressive stuff, but Theocracy does is SO well, they're one of my 3 top bands of all time. Amazing stuff.

@Aaon Bruce thank you for the insight.....I was into the music so much I didn't listen to the lyrics

ATWLB is the first disk with Val Allen Wood, hence the reason why the lead work is even more epic than even this song.
@@stevenjacobson3049 ATWLB is probably my favourite album of theirs.

30 Pieces of Silver also by Theocracy. Veni Domine's, "Valley of the Visions".
Dude, you GOTTA do "I Am" from the "As the World Bleeds" album. You'll hear Matt singing pretty low in that song as well as really high. DO IT!! :)

No one suggest Veni Domine , we'll be here all year.....
Around 12:05 he sings about blood and the screen turns red. A funny coincidence.
That bass sounds like a hellhound growl 😮🤘🤘🤘🫠🫠🫠

You should check out Project Aegis! Very cool collaborations, superb musicianship and great production.
This is a good song but, in my opinion, they have many better ones. I Am is the best song I ever heard.
Great Band, Love all their Albums also check out Matt's side project Project Aegis AMAZING
Will do....thanks
Congrats Mate on 600! Subsribers! 😀 i remember when you had 105 subscribers! Im glad to be one of them!

For scary horror thrash-type song try “The Charmer” by Christian metal band Seventh Angel.
Seventh Angel is one of the best thrash/doom bands ever. _Lament For the Weary_ is a friggen masterpiece
There is another Christian band that you might love inerwish
Any particular songs my friend... bear in mind I love a medium paced song
