This week told us there is no point in voting.
Well, it seems to be in my eyes.
My simple question for Beth is: when does pragmatism (OK) end and opportunism (not OK) begin? 🤔
I think we look at the role of the Prime Minister wrong. This is supposed to be a representative democracy, which means the leader has to as far as possible represent some kind of common agreement about how we go forward as a country. If the leader is deeply ideological as a person, a 'true believer', they can't really be representative of a vigorously hashed out social consensus. We are acting like what we really want is a benevolent dictator.
32:16 That one MP was quite clealry Natalie Elphcike. Highly doubt she would've voted against the Leader of the House if she was still a Tory MP (especially given her past). This is why we have to celebrate defections as a very good thing.
