      Not quite. Samplitude Pro added this feature over a year ago and you can do so much more. For instance... you can not only comp over a section but you can actually comp over from a different portion of the takes or even add to the 8 bar measure to make a 16 bar measure. Sorta like chopping and splicing your takes however you like. Ableton is getting there... they're just taking the scenic route. Samplitude Pro added MPE function a year ago too. Still on the fence whether MPE is truly the evolution of MIDI considering the weirdo touch keys on those MPE keybed instruments. Seems more gimmicky than anything.

      So the TAKE functions were fantastic for both sound & video

      Ableton could have done better with this honestly. It’s really basic and late to the party. It’s time for Ableton to something ground breaking again. This is kinda basic. And she’s right, Samplitude in some ways is 10 years ahead of some DAWs in certain features.

    Video should mention performing take comping on multiple tracks, such as how you would use comping for a multi mic'd drum kit recording. If you link a group of tracks, you can perform identical comping on multiple tracks at once.

    It's things like this (I'm including the multi-track comping) that help to make Ableton Live my favorite DAW. I love that you don't make it a pain to edit parts of the takes after you've comped them. They remain easy to edit, and easy to re-comp. And comping drums is at least 4X easier now with the multi-track comping. Thank you!

The next thing was using a multiple monitor setup (external monitor + the notebook display). I could only work with ableton when I disabled one of the displays.

    Dear Ableton Live engineers. Please add the mixer pane in arrangement view. Don't ask me how this feature has been overlooked all of these years. Live is the ONLY DAW on the market right now that doesn't have a option to display the channel mixer in its linear sequencer. Just add a tab button at the bottom of the screen where we can select either our plugin chain, clip editor or the mixer pane. I thought for sure you guys and girls would've added it in Live 11... but nope.

    Can one do comping in the Session view?

    How can we comp without a loop so the artist can catch his breath? No body speaks on this

    • @nfernandable
      @nfernandable 3 роки тому

      good question, can you not just add some empty bars at the end of the loop and do it that way?

      @@nfernandable I learned if you turn off the loop, ableton still records each take to it's own layer to allow for water breaks and time to chat with the artist

      You can just record over the first take, and once youre done unfold the take lanes and get to work with comping

    Just noticed that comping occurs for ALL the playing tracks, depite only one being selected for recording. This creates huge amount of clips out of nowhere :(

      @@Ableton I previously thought that Lite is basically the same as Intro edition, just named differently to distinguish standalone (Intro) from bundled (Lite) origin - and Lite had the comping on the feature list here:
      www.ableton.com/en/live/compare-editions/
      But I am also not sure if maybe it's something else (like automation) that might be hiding the lanes, or it's simply not available in Lite edition - could you please refer to that? I would appreciate straight and clear answer.

    • @Ableton
      @Ableton  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, Lite and Intro are indeed entirely different versions of Live. While Comping may only be available with Intro, Standard, and Suite, multiple automation lanes are fully supported with Lite. In addition to the previously posted link with all the Live Lite features, you can also have a look at the Compare Live editions page in which we list all the features available in the other three versions. Should you have more questions regarding features, feel free to get in touch with us. Cheers!
