I feel attacked 😅. But seriously, there’s nothing inherently wrong with the POV format. Your alternative is just a different style. I find that while I’m shooting my POV’s it makes me move around more which always leads to better photos in the end:
You have some good points and I agree with you. I started with POV last year after 11-12 years of street photography. Many years ago, when social media was mostly made for pictures, the engagement was great. But over the years, video has taken over. We so-called "hobby artists" want to be seen too, and realizing that images do not create the same level of engagement anymore "forcing" us to POV. But having said that, it is very rare that I find a POV with quality content here on YT.
I've actually moved away from this intense POV style too. I take a few video shots with my action cam at the location and if I've taken good photos there, then the shot and video are edited together in the YT video with voice over. That way I can concentrate much better on the photography. The photo yield with the classification ‘good’ has increased significantly since then. Thank you for your good contribution. Keep up the good work, Holger
Interesting video. I like to do POV style videos about street photography. I have an Insta360 X2 attached to my camerabag strap. It is almost invisible. I do not feel that my photography has gotten any worse that it still might be. It has made me photograph the same way I would if I was not filming. I also do part f the voice over before and some after. What makes it different is if I am in the video myself. Thast usually changes my photographs and I also come more visible myself. I think seeing the actual moment when making the image is interesting. In street photography the situations go away very fast and it is hard to recreate that moment in video. I do see your point. The great thing is that there are many ways to make content about street photography. The viewers also like different thing. I do like your content. Good commentary and good photos.
Dear Peter, thank you a lot for your feedback. Maybe i was focussing too much on my personal experiences, and i love your videos, you´re doing it great with all the explanations and insights you add - but i feel this alternative way opens a door for many who feel similar as i do and are frustrated of "traditional" POVs...thank you again, happy for your feedback!
@@streetphotographyguy I totally see your point. POV is a bit tricky and the best part of UA-cam is that there are so many ways to do photography content. I totally love you content and watch every video you publish. I like your slightly humorous and sometimes a bit sarcastic approach. Keep it up!
i completely agree with this video, POV street photography you can`t film video at the same time taking photos, that not how you can take candid shots, to be concentrate to focus more to your photos and take moments, some people maybe can, but majority can`t do it. and also majority of "street photography POV" are just nonsense shit here on youtube and tiktok. 😄😅
I’ve been following ur videos on you tube since a week ago and your IG content and honestly I feel motivated to do more often what I love ! Meaning street photography! I live in California and my favorite places to do it is DTLA and Hollywood but I noticed that people is kind of rude lately so I tried to do what you suggested on your previous videos and it worked !!! Thanks for sharing your experience/thoughts and suggestions !!! Greetings from Burbank California !!!
Thank you. I agree totally - your approach makes for a better learning experience. Too often (not always, but often) PoV videos feel too hectic to me, almost like an ego shooter video game. Which some people may like - me, not so much.
I agree. I have hardly even seen any good photos taken in POVs. Also, after I've seen a couple of them, the rest just look the same, so I'd stopped watching them for ages.
There are very good POVs with real street photographers, and many many POVs with cool kids they think they are photographers. Some of them are a pity because they think shooting people at random is street photography. So I don’t think this is bad, I enjoy a lot the good ones, but as everything in life, there are good and bad things.
Although videos can be a kind of virtual tourism, I think your “video after” idea is better - or, perhaps just take stills later and then at home explain “this was my test shot, I didn’t get the shadow I wanted,” “here the metering was off,” “this was good but the person turned their head” etc. Just as educational and you are carrying less gear. All the best -
Imagine people seeing folks in trench coats and first think "Oh no, a crazy s** offender" and then the instant relief when they realize it´s just a street photographer...could be interesting photos though! ;-)
Whenever I see the word “street” in a title I tend to skip it. I don’t want to see a picture of someone taking a picture. The camera should be invisible. Show me the pictures. Keep the talk to a minimum.

Ich finde, das ist ein guter Ansatz... bin gespannt auf ein ersten Walk von Dir 😊

I think I'm arriving at the same thinking. Glad you called it out. I'll have to change what I'm putting out there, but I think that's for the better.

I’m pretty sure a lot of those reels or whatever their called from popular Instagramers are staged.
I agree, especially when beautiful women are involved....

I hear you’re making a new film…Wrong and Wronger.

Yes, that´s how I think would be the better approach to this. And you are right with less gear, another benefit! Thanks for your feedback!
I hope the overwhelming cookie cutter POV channels pay attention to this....because I am TOTALLY here for the alternative you describe!
If Cartier Bressan were born in 1999, he may well have done POVs…
I think you could be right😊😁
@@streetphotographyguy 😂😂
That explains the bulge under the coat.
Sure, let’s wear a trench coat when it’s blazing hot out just to hide a camera. That looks totally normal.

Good points. While initially interesting I’m finding them amateurish and annoying.
