best channel by far for robot vacuum reviews, and best honest, professional review out there. I watched many reviews of this robot, but all failed to cover everything, and highlight the downsides of this robot. Thank you for your work
Really can't thank you enough for that. It is my goal to be different. I never accept money from the makers of these robot vacuums so my words are not influenced. I also have never been given grief from manufacturers for stating the bad along with the good in my reviews. Always makes me wonder why people on UA-cam always say everything is great, when it usually never is.
@@jamie.andrewsI guess there are 2 reasons for that: 1. it's far more easy to only say good things, and just quote the ads of the manufacturer instead of being thorough and professional and provide real value 2. they are afraid to get cut out by the manufacturer. believe it or not, I was holding off to buy this robot until you'll review it because I knew I'll only get the full picture on your channel. I really liked the Q Revo review as well. Hope this channel will blow up with subscribers soon, and I do believe it will if you keep it going because you provide a unique value here. When I started reviews on UA-cam there were not many people doing it. I have always tried to be as honest as possible. Would love to see the L20 Ultra vs the L10S Ultra comparison. I currently own the latter and it works very well, not planning to upgrade especially since I paid only 500$ for it a month ago (refurbished unit). At first, it had a problem with the water flow (very common according to the forums) but it was easily solvable with the straw method. This should not happen though, Dreame should solve the issue with the internal water conducts in the factory. Cheers.
@@clancyx2807 Basically you suck on the port at the bottom of the dock thats used to fill the robots tank. The better method is to put about 500ml down the clean water port where the clean water tank connects. I think the issue is caused by a a sticky one way valve inside the dock.
This is the only test worth doing. I have the s8 pro ultra and while I love it YT reviewers definitely over scored the mopping ability. The common stains should be tomato sauce, gravy, smoothie juice, and dried up wet shoes marks.
I've had the L20 since release here is the States. Dreame had to send a replacement unit because mine was making a noise. It sounded like a gas powered weed whacker. The replacement is working fine. I also have the L10s Ultra.
Great Review Mate. The tech trend is to release product first and patch later. Dreame is no exception. Still I am excited for the L20 ultra once the software improvements are in.

I got my L20 Ultra just a few days ago, can confirm that the navigation issues are not an issue for me, could be that they have already fixed it. It is absolutely a game changer, our house have never been so clean.
used it for 5 weeks now, the experience has been amazing, with a couple of hiccups with mapping shifting, but can be easily resolved by saving a good copy of it and restore when it shift, the firmware I have now is 4.3.6
I seem to recall a video where you mentioned the navigation issues of the Dreame l20 that were resolved after your initial review. I my recollection is correct would you mind putting a link in your reply?
Have you tested the L10s Pro Heat? I believe that it has hot water mop washing and a refillable detergent tank both features not found in the L20s, it also has a more compact base station and is cheaper. The swing out mopping feature of the L20s is also there. The only features that the L20s has that the L10s Pro Heat does not have is I believe the LED lights for object avoidance at night and the detachable mops. I don't have carpets so the latter is not relevant to me. Do you know if there is any difference in the object avoidance capabilities of these two models? Do people without carpets have any reason to choose the L20 over the L10s Pro Heat?
Great review Jamie! I've had my L20 Ultra for a couple of weeks now and thus far I'm very satisfied. One thing that I've noticed mine does every now and then is that it seems to be confused as to where to go next and spins around, but it always seems to figure it out. Also, it seems to leave a random area unmopped only to come back at a later time to take care of it, even if it's moved on to another room. Likely, some sort of efficiency algorithm but I often will have fun watching the map just to see if it remembers to go back, it does! With the latest update, there is a section pertaining to the external water/sewage kit, which I'm really looking forward to.
Thanks! Yes I have experienced the same as you and you can imagine that keep me on my toes trying to figure out if it was a glitch worth mentioning or just weird behavior. Even with the navigation quirks it does appear to cover all of the ground and has not found itself lost. I did not mention the kit, because I have not seen it come to market just yet in the US.

I would've been interested in some noise levels and also a more in-depth review of the new features like.the swing arm ie is it all for show or any actual use at cleaning. Honestly tho....as much as i enjoy a good comparison video - this vacuum is so far above the competition at the moment that im not sure exactly what a comparison video would prove🤷🏻
This is awesome. I Just got Q Revo few months ago and I’m happy with it but I do hope that Roborock will implement edge mopping in next years Revo. While they are at it they should add baseboards cleaning. 😂The need to clean/brush the dock under the tray is a dealbreaker for me. Great review as always. Thank you 🙏
I really appreciate your review of the Dreame L20. I've been waiting to see your review before making the purchase. I except the fact it will have some glitches out the gate, mostly software. The real trial is now that I have ordered it with the current Black Friday deals going on it, is for the testing of how it will do with my floors and carpet. For some reason I've tried some other products that the mop pad would cause drag on my carpet in certain areas causing the units to get stuck even with mop raising features. I feel the ability to leave the mop pads in the unit after it's completed mopping the floors will be a game changer and help tremendously.
Have to admit it, the L20 has the goods! These docks are getting a)really good and b) really big! This one, while nicely styled (if a bit pretentious wuth the brightwork) looks like an actual appliance. Or a Wine chiller, lol!
slightly random question - does that dock cleaning base (the removable, washable part) fit the L10s ultra? It was disappointing to see the L10s Ultra have an ‘open’ style which lets dirt get to the base below. the closed setup of the L20 ultra is much neater

Does the L20 have a problem with mops falling off in the middle of cleaning the house? I am wondering whether to buy the L10s ultra or the L20 to upgrade from my current Roomba 960 (purchased many years ago). Androidpolice mentioned l20 has disappointing mopping performance and your review seemed to have hinted at that too.
Thanks! I think the mopping performance is a little worse than the L10s, but that might have more to do with the material used on the L20's pads. I have not had mopping pads fall out on either model.
Hello! Thanks for the video. I’ve seen also the s8 ultra pro vs s7 maxv. Compare those to the l20 ultra which one is overal better in moping floors and vacuum cleaning hard floor?
When returning to the base station to wash the mop pads, and while returning to the room to continue mopping, does the robot lift the mop pads? I have an older robot that doesn't lift, and drags dirt all over the house when going to and returning from washing mop pads.
Depends if you want to spend the extra money for the upgrades the L20 brings. Both are good robots, but the L20 has more features and better specs compared to the L10s. If money is no object then get the best!
Oh yea. They were fixed a long time ago. Make sure the mop washing in the dock works OK and also make sure the robot is putting put water on the mop pads. 2 weak areas of the L20.
@@jamie.andrews this made me worried lol Considering buying in the US and bringing back home abroad. These 2 weak areas are pretty deal breakers if it doesn't work. Anyways, I guess it's a low probability of getting a defective unit with these 2 problems? Or safer to get a Roborock Q Revo? (already have a S7 and love it).

No the bags are not reusable. You would need to step up to the X30 or X40 to be able to use your own detergent. It can be done with these tanks, but it is a bit of a pain.
The quarter round molding is not part of the actual baseboard. It was added because whomever installed the hardwood floors didn't remove the existing baseboards. I removed over 500 linear feet of baseboards to install all of my floors so that I could get them up to the wall (minus a quarter inch to account for expansion on the foam underlayment) and then re-installed the baseboards over the install edge of the floors. No quarter round needed and my L20 works perfectly in this regard. Just wish it worked better getting under the kitchen cabinet overhangs.
Yea it was added, and I don't have it on my tile floor and there are no issues there. I point it out becasue people do have it on homes, especially older ones. I still think haveong a robot get so close to baseboards is a bit overhyped. Until it can get under cabinets like in your example you still need another method to clean those areas.
@@jamie.andrews The under cabinet thing is a bummer. Mine easily clears it because the cabinet overhang is about 1/2 higher than the bot, but it still won't go under.
@jamie.andrews It is but only clears the lidar by a millimeter. It shouldn't matter though as there is an ultrasonic distance sensor and camera on the right specifically meant to get right up to the edge. I think this is a bug. Other brands with non clearing lidar are able to get under the edge.
Features, and functions are nice. How durable is it? How long is the warrenty, and how easily is it to get service? Its a $1500 machine, it needs to last.
no one would be able to tell you how durable they are, every single auto washing robot out there has been in the market for a year and a half only so no one knows
@xeon2k8 absolutely correct. So you have to consider historical data on a company. You have to look at warranty period, and rma process. Isn't the Roborock s7-mV 2 years old?
Time will have to tell. I would say Dreame does not have as good of a track record as Roborock, but every robot vacuum manufacture is going to have issues. These machine sometimes get abused as well which skews the data. Overall as long as I have tested I have only had 2 failures on a robot vacuum.
Hey Jamie, been watching a lot of your videos and enjoying the content. I had a question for you. This is going to be my first time purchasing a robot vacuum. I have a German Shepherd and a cat, and I'm considering purchasing a robot vacuum. Based on your reviews, I'm trying to decide between the Dreame L10 Ultra and the L20 Ultra. Would you recommend the L10 for $630 or the L20 for around $900 at this time? I have a single story home around 1400sf with about 850sf hardwood floor and the rest carpet.
For that size the L10s Ultra would do just fine. If you can swing the extra money the L20 Ultra adds detergent injection, a swing out mop and better overall cleaning ability.
I love your reviews! I know this is an old review, but based on sale prices, I have the option to purchase the Dreame L20 or the Roborock Q Revo Plus. I'm looking for a dependable robot with excellent mopping ability that can still do a very good job of vacuuming our low pile area rugs. We have two dogs who shed constantly. Which would you choose? This may sound like a dumb question but the Dreame l20 ultra has self-removing mopping pads but do the pad reattach by themselves? It would seem like they should but I have not found any mention of that on any review site.

Great review as always! Appreciate your effort. I was hoping that dreame had resolved more of the software issues. How about the water supply? Did it fill up the internal tank properly and how big area does it mop before running out of water? Could you provide us with the height of the robot in mm? The lidar radar seems quite high.
No issues filling up the internal tank at all especially at first. Unfortunately I have been real sick lately and had to cut some of the normal things out of this video. If I do another video which I am sure I will I will cover water consumption. I never had a problem with it running out of water though. The hardware is top notch imo. It is a little taller than say a Q Revo at a little over 4 inches including the lidar cover. Thanks for the support!
Originaly I wanted a roborock, but happened to catch this one in a sale, so I'm excited to get my first robot vacuum 😅. Hopefully the firmware quirks are ironed out by now.

The software is good with tons of options. I simply ran out of time and did not have a chance to cover all of the options in the app. Compared to Roborock it is very similar maybe just a bit less refined.
@@jamie.andrews I bought it and I couldn't be happier. It is a fantastic robot and I am blown away how good the mopping actually is. Only downside is that it is slightly higher than my previous Neabot NoMo and now I have to raise our beds with 0.5 cm. All in all a big recommendation from here. Did you measure the noise levels? Especially for the auto-empty? Some testers mention that this product is more noisy because of the high suction power. But my pets would prefer quieter robot. Sould I go for the L10s Ultra?
The dock is not more niosy than other docks. The robot can be a bit noisy if you select Max Plus vaccum mode as this unit has a much more powerful vacuum motor than others. I did not think it was an issue and I was aware of what others have said in reviews. I don't think many people switch the robot to the highest power setting while vacuuming. It would be better to just make 2 passes. These robots should not be intended to replace a full size vaccum if you have carpet. Especially if you have pets. With that said run it on a lower setting and you will be fine.
Yeah, I noticed that usually Jamie has measured sound levels, why not on this review (maybe because it is LOUD) and other reviewers have also mentioned this. I almost got the L20 Ultra, but luckily Q Revo was on sale in my area, weighed the options and went for the Q Revo. Couldn't me happier for my choice. Q Revo us much quieter and just as effective, if not more. Other features of the L20 Ultra you won't most likely need that often. Sometimes less is more. You can run the Q Revo on max suction and it still is as quiet as L20 Ultra on lower suction settings, I bet.
Can you share which robots are best to use Bona hardwood solution? Our flooring company said we need to use Bona floor cleaner instead of just water. What’s your advice here?
Do you think the L20 edges out the Roborock S7 Max or S8 Pro? Specifically for a home with full hardwood floor in the entire first level with a medium sizes area rug in the family room. Thanks !
I plan on putting out a video in December comparing these 2 along with the Ecovacs X2. Both are great vacuums and I don't think you could go wrong with either. If you want the most features it is going to be the L20. If you want the best software and hardware expierance then Roborock is the best in the industry. That is not to say Dreame is bad. Just not on par.

We don't get the L10s Heat in my market so I have not tested it. If you desire hot water mop washing go for the L10 otherwise the L20 is considered an upgrade.

Thanks for the review. I used to have S7 MaxV Ultra which I loved, but it died, so I was looking for a replacement. There isn't any other robot that would check all the boxes for me, that's why I got the L20 Ultra about 2 weeks ago. I agree with the build quality issues. One issues I have encountered is the PCB inside the dock station being loose and vibrating inside when the drying motor is running, I found a workaround when you apply pressure to the power connector, it stops. Anyway, other than that, the robot has been totally flawless. I also got the auto water refill / drain kit and I love it. I didn't find any navigation issues or software bugs yet, also there has been a FW update about 4 days ago. We have a dog and a child, so the robot has a lot of work every day and with the auto refill kit it is almost zero maintenance.
Glad to hear about your expierance. Do you have carpet on you home? That is the only thing that messes up the navigarion requiring the firmware update. Can you tell me what firmware version you have?

@@sssssalva1 hi, the s7maxv ultra wasn't bad, but after a year the cliff sensors failed and it was seeing obstacles everywhere, this seems to be a common issue. If you can get a really good deal on S7 MaxV Ultra (not to be mistaken with the S7 Max Ultra) and you don't need the new features, I would go with that. But if budget is not a problem and you want the cutting edge features with mop drying, rotating and extendable mops, I would recommend the L20 Ultra, it has been a month now and it is still going strong every day without almost any maintenance

Your reviews are great. I bought the q8 Revo which I liked. But the base station started leaking after 2 months. Would you say this would be a good replacement for Revo?
That sucks. Could it be a tube came undone inside? The only think that competes at the price range is the Dreame L10s. I have a video on my channel comparing the 2.
@@jamie.andrews I did inspect the tubes to the best of my ability but it looks like a common issue with revo. I saw a few similar reviews on amazon germany and people on Reddit wrote it was pump malfunction. I actually did order the l10s to have a go. If cleaning performace is similar, the navigation is at least on paper seems to be better :) Will see. I did like the revo a lot despite rather basic navigation it cleaned really well and was quiet. First of all thanks for the videos! I do realize the Roborock s8 pro ultra and this are both great. If you had to pick one for mostly vinyl flooring with the occasional rug and no pets. Which would be more ideal?
For the L20 yes unless you want to try and refill them yourself otherwise they are sealed. The X30 and X40 have tanks that can be filled by the end user though.
Jamie in the end I went with the L10s pro ultra heat. So confusing! When it runs on clean genius and I have rugs it keeps mopping them. I thought it was meant to detect carpet and lift pads? There are so many settings it's confusing! Any advice ? Cheers
@@DannyLongGoogleplus You need to change the carpet setting to tell it what to do when it encounters carpet. That is a different setting under the setting menu.
My L20 is not pumping the water to the waist tank! I did all of the above, and it still is not pumping any waste water to the tank! Abnormal water level in the washboard! Any suggestions!
Great video. I've never owned a robot vacuum because I see so many negative reviews about how they handle longer carpet. How does this one do on longer plush carpet?

The Q Revo is good as long as object avoidance is not a priority then the L20 or L10s makes more sense to me. Otherwise the Q Revo is an outstanding robot.

They have had good navigation... until they listened to users who complained about cameras. Now it's just normal navigation semi blinded after the removal of the said cameras. Oh look what's on this L20... cameras... they just work!

I just returned my S8 Pro Ultra. It was very inconsistent. Sometime sit would go days and work perfectly then have several days where it would get “stuck” on absolutely nothing. For $1800 it better be perfect! So I just ordered the Dreame L20 Ultra. It’s on sale $350 off on Amazon. I am excited about it but I was just really surprised and concerned to find out n this review that it only has an 80 ML water tank, that is tiny and less than half the size of the one on the S8. The mopping feature is very important to me and my entire house is tile. I guess as long as it returns to the dock and continues when it runs out of water why should it matter. But it seems like it is going to take way longer to mop my house.
@@kasperkorea so far the L20 is AMAZING! Far superior to the S8 in every way. Navigation, cleaning, and overall, it is just a way more premium product. The smaller water tank has been a complete nonissue. If I hadn't been told about it, I never would have known. It mops way better, and the dock storage tanks are way bigger. I only need to refill and empty once every 4 or 5 days, and I mop every night on the highest water settings. I had to fill the S8 every other day.

One of the hardest choices now if you're looking to buy a robot like this is between Dreame L20 Ultra, Roborock s8 pro ultra and the latest DEEBOT X2 OMNI. That would be a good comparison to do. Great review, I’ve just ordered one from Amazon UK. The UK doesn’t seem to be able to get the black, only the white but I don’t mind. I previously had the L10s and loved it so I’m looking forward to this one but I know what you mean by the software quirks at first. I also had to do the straw method on my L10s do you have to do that with the L20?
Thanks! No I did not have to do the straw method for this, but I also did not for my L10s. Those things should have been sorted before going to production and has to be the lack of QA testing.
Got my L20 ultra and I had to do the straw method and several attempts with injecting water with a syringe into the water pipes as the base wasn’t filling with water. Everything seems to be working now but thought I’d post here to let people know they may have to do the same
Excellent review! I'm considering this product for my home, but I have a second floor. Could you please explain the process for using it upstairs? Do I need to manually carry the device up every day for cleaning? Additionally, what would be the behavior of the Robovac if it needs to wash the mop during the cleaning cycle (up stairs) while the base station is on a different floor?
If you have more than one floor you will have to carry it up and down the stairs. If your other floors are very large a small intergred water tankight be an issue.

Thanks. It is not here yet and until it is I am not discusing it as an option, although I should have mentioned it in the video. Too many times I have heard it will come to the US and it never does. If you mean dried stains to mop there is not yet a robot vacuum that will scrub grout especially like mine. That is because the pads are not designed to really tackle this.
A couple of months ago, I made a $20 deposit on the pre-release version of this L20 Robot. Should I follow through, or wait a few months for a firmware updated version?
If you would lose your discount (if you have one) I would go ahead and buy it. If you are concerned with the carpet issue it will be fixed if it has not already.
Yea Ecovacs has a large budget to pay for UA-cam reviews and I can't stand watching half of them. Nothing more than marketing hype. It really upsets me to the core to hear people being dishonest for money. I never accept a dime from these companies so I can say what I want. The downside is this is a lot of work to test, observe and find the flaws with these robots. That is why I can only get 1 video out every 2 weeks. Thanks for your support!
only thing i dont like about dreame is EE and PCB quality is a tier lower than roborock. I tried one of their earlier D9s. Picked up dust better than my S6, but general nav was worse. Maybe they improved. I havent looked in a couple years.

Really can't thank you enough for that. It is my goal to be different. I never accept money from the makers of these robot vacuums so my words are not influenced. I also have never been given grief from manufacturers for stating the bad along with the good in my reviews. Always makes me wonder why people on UA-cam always say everything is great, when it usually never is.
@@jamie.andrewsI guess there are 2 reasons for that: 1. it's far more easy to only say good things, and just quote the ads of the manufacturer instead of being thorough and professional and provide real value 2. they are afraid to get cut out by the manufacturer.

I really liked the Q Revo review as well.

When I started reviews on UA-cam there were not many people doing it. I have always tried to be as honest as possible. I've never had a company get mad for me doing so and never lost a relationship over it.

Would love to see the L20 Ultra vs the L10S Ultra comparison. I currently own the latter and it works very well, not planning to upgrade especially since I paid only 500$ for it a month ago (refurbished unit). At first, it had a problem with the water flow (very common according to the forums) but it was easily solvable with the straw method. This should not happen though, Dreame should solve the issue with the internal water conducts in the factory. Cheers.

If you don't have the problem then you won't. It is only when you first set it up that the water will not flow.

@@clancyx2807 Basically you suck on the port at the bottom of the dock thats used to fill the robots tank. The better method is to put about 500ml down the clean water port where the clean water tank connects. I think the issue is caused by a a sticky one way valve inside the dock.

This is the only test worth doing. I have the s8 pro ultra and while I love it YT reviewers definitely over scored the mopping ability. The common stains should be tomato sauce, gravy, smoothie juice, and dried up wet shoes marks.

I've had the L20 since release here is the States. Dreame had to send a replacement unit because mine was making a noise. It sounded like a gas powered weed whacker. The replacement is working fine. I also have the L10s Ultra.

Firmware is at least fixable and can always be improved.
I got my L20 Ultra just a few days ago, can confirm that the navigation issues are not an issue for me, could be that they have already fixed it. It is absolutely a game changer, our house have never been so clean.

used it for 5 weeks now, the experience has been amazing, with a couple of hiccups with mapping shifting, but can be easily resolved by saving a good copy of it and restore when it shift, the firmware I have now is 4.3.6

Have you tested the L10s Pro Heat? I believe that it has hot water mop washing and a refillable detergent tank both features not found in the L20s, it also has a more compact base station and is cheaper. The swing out mopping feature of the L20s is also there. The only features that the L20s has that the L10s Pro Heat does not have is I believe the LED lights for object avoidance at night and the detachable mops. I don't have carpets so the latter is not relevant to me. Do you know if there is any difference in the object avoidance capabilities of these two models? Do people without carpets have any reason to choose the L20 over the L10s Pro Heat?
Sadly I have not had a chance to review that model. I am not able to answer your question sadly. It looks to be fairly impressive on paper though.
Great review Jamie! I've had my L20 Ultra for a couple of weeks now and thus far I'm very satisfied. One thing that I've noticed mine does every now and then is that it seems to be confused as to where to go next and spins around, but it always seems to figure it out. Also, it seems to leave a random area unmopped only to come back at a later time to take care of it, even if it's moved on to another room. Likely, some sort of efficiency algorithm but I often will have fun watching the map just to see if it remembers to go back, it does! With the latest update, there is a section pertaining to the external water/sewage kit, which I'm really looking forward to.
Thanks! Yes I have experienced the same as you and you can imagine that keep me on my toes trying to figure out if it was a glitch worth mentioning or just weird behavior. Even with the navigation quirks it does appear to cover all of the ground and has not found itself lost. I did not mention the kit, because I have not seen it come to market just yet in the US.

This is awesome. I Just got Q Revo few months ago and I’m happy with it but I do hope that Roborock will implement edge mopping in next years Revo. While they are at it they should add baseboards cleaning. 😂The need to clean/brush the dock under the tray is a dealbreaker for me. Great review as always. Thank you 🙏

I really appreciate your review of the Dreame L20. I've been waiting to see your review before making the purchase. I except the fact it will have some glitches out the gate, mostly software. The real trial is now that I have ordered it with the current Black Friday deals going on it, is for the testing of how it will do with my floors and carpet. For some reason I've tried some other products that the mop pad would cause drag on my carpet in certain areas causing the units to get stuck even with mop raising features. I feel the ability to leave the mop pads in the unit after it's completed mopping the floors will be a game changer and help tremendously.
The L20 is impressive overall. I am a big fan of removable mopping pads.
Have to admit it, the L20 has the goods! These docks are getting a)really good and b) really big! This one, while nicely styled (if a bit pretentious wuth the brightwork) looks like an actual appliance. Or a Wine chiller, lol!
It really reminds me of the Ecovacs X1 OMNI.

slightly random question - does that dock cleaning base (the removable, washable part) fit the L10s ultra? It was disappointing to see the L10s Ultra have an ‘open’ style which lets dirt get to the base below. the closed setup of the L20 ultra is much neater

Does the L20 have a problem with mops falling off in the middle of cleaning the house? Androidpolice mentioned l20 has disappointing mopping performance and your review seemed to have hinted at that too.

I think the mopping performance is a little worse than the L10s, but that might have more to do with the material used on the L20's pads.
I have not had mopping pads fall out on either model.

When returning to the base station to wash the mop pads, and while returning to the room to continue mopping, does the robot lift the mop pads? I have an older robot that doesn't lift, and drags dirt all over the house when going to and returning from washing mop pads.

Depends if you want to spend the extra money for the upgrades the L20 brings. Both are good robots, but the L20 has more features and better specs compared to the L10s. If money is no object then get the best!

Oh yea. They were fixed a long time ago. Make sure the mop washing in the dock works OK and also make sure the robot is putting put water on the mop pads. 2 weak areas of the L20.

Considering buying in the US and bringing back home abroad. These 2 weak areas are pretty deal breakers if it doesn't work. Anyways, I guess it's a low probability of getting a defective unit with these 2 problems? Or safer to get a Roborock Q Revo? (already have a S7 and love it).
@@Interesting-AF Roborock products are higher quality and overall have less issues, but they also cost more when comparing features.

The only thing the L20 does better is object avoidance. If that is very important the L20 is your answer.

Hi Jaime. I just found your channel as I've been researching. I was set on the L20 but wanted to see what you think between the L20, Eufy S1, and a Roborock in that category. Roborock has a lot of vacuums. I like the Black Friday sales for all of this. Trying to finalize my decision so I appreciate your input!
What is you budget? The L20 Ultra is a good bit less expensive than the S1 Pro.

Are the bags reusable? And is there an adapter for the solution/detergent so you can use your own?
No the bags are not reusable. You would need to step up to the X30 or X40 to be able to use your own detergent. It can be done with these tanks, but it is a bit of a pain.
The quarter round molding is not part of the actual baseboard. It was added because whomever installed the hardwood floors didn't remove the existing baseboards. I removed over 500 linear feet of baseboards to install all of my floors so that I could get them up to the wall (minus a quarter inch to account for expansion on the foam underlayment) and then re-installed the baseboards over the install edge of the floors. No quarter round needed and my L20 works perfectly in this regard. Just wish it worked better getting under the kitchen cabinet overhangs.
Yea it was added, and I don't have it on my tile floor and there are no issues there. I point it out becasue people do have it on homes, especially older ones.
I still think haveong a robot get so close to baseboards is a bit overhyped. Until it can get under cabinets like in your example you still need another method to clean those areas.
@@jamie.andrews The under cabinet thing is a bummer. Mine easily clears it because the cabinet overhang is about 1/2 higher than the bot, but it still won't go under.
@@sorka95032 if the cabinet base is not above lidar that would be the reason.
@jamie.andrews It is but only clears the lidar by a millimeter. It shouldn't matter though as there is an ultrasonic distance sensor and camera on the right specifically meant to get right up to the edge. I think this is a bug. Other brands with non clearing lidar are able to get under the edge.
Features, and functions are nice. How durable is it? How long is the warrenty, and how easily is it to get service?
Its a $1500 machine, it needs to last.
no one would be able to tell you how durable they are, every single auto washing robot out there has been in the market for a year and a half only so no one knows
@xeon2k8 absolutely correct. So you have to consider historical data on a company.
You have to look at warranty period, and rma process.
Isn't the Roborock s7-mV 2 years old?
Time will have to tell. I would say Dreame does not have as good of a track record as Roborock, but every robot vacuum manufacture is going to have issues. These machine sometimes get abused as well which skews the data. Overall as long as I have tested I have only had 2 failures on a robot vacuum.

Hey Jamie, been watching a lot of your videos and enjoying the content. I had a question for you. This is going to be my first time purchasing a robot vacuum. I have a German Shepherd and a cat, and I'm considering purchasing a robot vacuum. Based on your reviews, I'm trying to decide between the Dreame L10 Ultra and the L20 Ultra. Would you recommend the L10 for $630 or the L20 for around $900 at this time? I have a single story home around 1400sf with about 850sf hardwood floor and the rest carpet.
For that size the L10s Ultra would do just fine. If you can swing the extra money the L20 Ultra adds detergent injection, a swing out mop and better overall cleaning ability.
I love your reviews! I know this is an old review, but based on sale prices, I have the option to purchase the Dreame L20 or the Roborock Q Revo Plus. I'm looking for a dependable robot with excellent mopping ability that can still do a very good job of vacuuming our low pile area rugs. We have two dogs who shed constantly. Which would you choose? Not advised as it is not designed for this plus different detergents have different dilution ratios.

No issues filling up the internal tank at all especially at first. Unfortunately I have been real sick lately and had to cut some of the normal things out of this video. If I do another video which I am sure I will I will cover water consumption. I never had a problem with it running out of water though. The hardware is top notch imo. It is a little taller than say a Q Revo at a little over 4 inches including the lidar cover. Thanks for the support!

Originaly I wanted a roborock, but happened to catch this one in a sale, so I'm excited to get my first robot vacuum 😅. Hopefully the firmware quirks are ironed out by now.

The software is good with tons of options. I simply ran out of time and did not have a chance to cover all of the options in the app. Compared to Roborock it is very similar maybe just a bit less refined.
@@jamie.andrews I bought it and I couldn't be happier. It is a fantastic robot and I am blown away how good the mopping actually is. Only downside is that it is slightly higher than my previous Neabot NoMo and now I have to raise our beds with 0.5 cm.

Did you measure the noise levels? Especially for the auto-empty? Some testers mention that this product is more noisy because of the high suction power. But my pets would prefer quieter robot. Sould I go for the L10s Ultra?
The dock is not more niosy than other docks. The robot can be a bit noisy if you select Max Plus vaccum mode as this unit has a much more powerful vacuum motor than others. I did not think it was an issue and I was aware of what others have said in reviews. I don't think many people switch the robot to the highest power setting while vacuuming. It would be better to just make 2 passes. These robots should not be intended to replace a full size vaccum if you have carpet. Especially if you have pets. With that said run it on a lower setting and you will be fine.
Yeah, I noticed that usually Jamie has measured sound levels, why not on this review (maybe because it is LOUD) and other reviewers have also mentioned this. I almost got the L20 Ultra, but luckily Q Revo was on sale in my area, weighed the options and went for the Q Revo. Couldn't me happier for my choice. Q Revo us much quieter and just as effective, if not more. Other features of the L20 Ultra you won't most likely need that often. Sometimes less is more. You can run the Q Revo on max suction and it still is as quiet as L20 Ultra on lower suction settings, I bet.

Can you share which robots are best to use Bona hardwood solution? Our flooring company said we need to use Bona floor cleaner instead of just water. What’s your advice here?
I would use Bona as I have before in my robots. Just dilute it really well.
Do you think the L20 edges out the Roborock S7 Max or S8 Pro? Specifically for a home with full hardwood floor in the entire first level with a medium sizes area rug in the family room. Thanks !
I plan on putting out a video in December comparing these 2 along with the Ecovacs X2. Both are great vacuums and I don't think you could go wrong with either. If you want the most features it is going to be the L20. If you want the best software and hardware expierance then Roborock is the best in the industry. That is not to say Dreame is bad. Just not on par.
What's the navigation like 6 months later? Any improvements via firmware?
No issues at all. The navigarion issues have been fixed on this model.

We don't get the L10s Heat in my market so I have not tested it.
If you desire hot water mop washing go for the L10 otherwise the L20 is considered an upgrade.
Thanks for the review. I used to have S7 MaxV Ultra which I loved, but it died, so I was looking for a replacement. There isn't any other robot that would check all the boxes for me, that's why I got the L20 Ultra about 2 weeks ago. I agree with the build quality issues. One issues I have encountered is the PCB inside the dock station being loose and vibrating inside when the drying motor is running, I found a workaround when you apply pressure to the power connector, it stops. Anyway, other than that, the robot has been totally flawless. I also got the auto water refill / drain kit and I love it. I didn't find any navigation issues or software bugs yet, also there has been a FW update about 4 days ago. We have a dog and a child, so the robot has a lot of work every day and with the auto refill kit it is almost zero maintenance.
Glad to hear about your expierance. Do you have carpet on you home? That is the only thing that messes up the navigarion requiring the firmware update.
Can you tell me what firmware version you have?

@@sssssalva1 hi, the s7maxv ultra wasn't bad, but after a year the cliff sensors failed and it was seeing obstacles everywhere, this seems to be a common issue. If you can get a really good deal on S7 MaxV Ultra (not to be mistaken with the S7 Max Ultra) and you don't need the new features, I would go with that. But if budget is not a problem and you want the cutting edge features with mop drying, rotating and extendable mops, I would recommend the L20 Ultra, it has been a month now and it is still going strong every day without almost any maintenance

I have 3 rabbits at home, so Im interested in the mopping functionality to be the best, and also, that this machines does not get stuck with hay...

The only think that competes at the price range is the Dreame L10s. I have a video on my channel comparing the 2.
@@jamie.andrews I did inspect the tubes to the best of my ability but it looks like a common issue with revo. I saw a few similar reviews on amazon germany and people on Reddit wrote it was pump malfunction. I actually did order the l10s to have a go. If cleaning performace is similar, the navigation is at least on paper seems to be better :) Will see. I did like the revo a lot despite rather basic navigation it cleaned really well and was quiet. Thanks a lot for the work you put into these reviews. They are the most trustworthy imho

I do realize the Roborock s8 pro ultra and this are both great. If you had to pick one for mostly vinyl flooring with the occasional rug and no pets. Which would be more ideal?
Either should work perfectly fine for your needs listed. It may come down to price. I will say the L20 does have better object avoidance.
Do you have to keep purchasing their cleaning solution bottles
For the L20 yes unless you want to try and refill them yourself otherwise they are sealed. The X30 and X40 have tanks that can be filled by the end user though.
Jamie in the end I went with the L10s pro ultra heat. So confusing!
When it runs on clean genius and I have rugs it keeps mopping them. I thought it was meant to detect carpet and lift pads? There are so many settings it's confusing! Any advice ? Cheers
@@DannyLongGoogleplus You need to change the carpet setting to tell it what to do when it encounters carpet. That is a different setting under the setting menu.

Great video. I've never owned a robot vacuum because I see so many negative reviews about how they handle longer carpet. How does this one do on longer plush carpet?

Another great review! Thanks for saving me the money I was thinking of spending to get this one to replace the Q Revo I recently bought. With some of the issues you mentioned, it's just not worth the extra money even when it's always cool with the latest tech.
The Q Revo is good as long as object avoidance is not a priority then the L20 or L10s makes more sense to me. Otherwise the Q Revo is an outstanding robot.
I actually ended up getting the L20 Ultra. Sucker for latest tech 😂 Let's see how it will do vs the Revo 👍

It acted very weird when cleaning so I got the Q Revo back and couldn't be more happy with it!

They have had good navigation... until they listened to users who complained about cameras. Now it's just normal navigation semi blinded after the removal of the said cameras.

Does it self-clean the dry filter like the Roborock?
Not since there is a mesh filter in front of it you will need to remove and clean the filter more often.
I seem to remember a video where you talked about some navigation problems of the Dreame l20 that were resolved after your initial review. If I recall correctly could you reply with the like to it?

Overall I would say yes in most all ways it is better unless you need dual rollers.

I just returned my S8 Pro Ultra. It was very inconsistent. Sometime sit would go days and work perfectly then have several days where it would get “stuck” on absolutely nothing. For $1800 it better be perfect! So I just ordered the Dreame L20 Ultra. It’s on sale $350 off on Amazon. I am excited about it but I was just really surprised and concerned to find out n this review that it only has an 80 ML water tank, that is tiny and less than half the size of the one on the S8. The mopping feature is very important to me and my entire house is tile. I guess as long as it returns to the dock and continues when it runs out of water why should it matter. But it seems like it is going to take way longer to mop my house.
Let me know how it works out. I think it will be fine as long as you set it to return every so often.

@@kasperkorea so far the L20 is AMAZING! Far superior to the S8 in every way. Navigation, cleaning, and overall, it is just a way more premium product. The smaller water tank has been a complete nonissue. If I hadn't been told about it, I never would have known. It mops way better, and the dock storage tanks are way bigger. I only need to refill and empty once every 4 or 5 days, and I mop every night on the highest water settings. I had to fill the S8 every other day.

One of the hardest choices now if you're looking to buy a robot like this is between Dreame L20 Ultra, Roborock s8 pro ultra and the latest DEEBOT X2 OMNI. That would be a good comparison to do. Personally I am choosing now between those three. Hope you will do the video like that. Thanks again.

Great review, I’ve just ordered one from Amazon UK. The UK doesn’t seem to be able to get the black, only the white but I don’t mind. I previously had the L10s and loved it so I’m looking forward to this one but I know what you mean by the software quirks at first.
I also had to do the straw method on my L10s do you have to do that with the L20?
Thanks! No I did not have to do the straw method for this, but I also did not for my L10s. Those things should have been sorted before going to production and has to be the lack of QA testing.
Got my L20 ultra and I had to do the straw method and several attempts with injecting water with a syringe into the water pipes as the base wasn’t filling with water. Everything seems to be working now but thought I’d post here to let people know they may have to do the same

Excellent review! I'm considering this product for my home, but I have a second floor. Could you please explain the process for using it upstairs? Do I need to manually carry the device up every day for cleaning? Additionally, what would be the behavior of the Robovac if it needs to wash the mop during the cleaning cycle (up stairs) while the base station is on a different floor?
If you have more than one floor you will have to carry it up and down the stairs. If your other floors are very large a small intergred water tankight be an issue.

Is the auto empty and auto load of water kit for this available in the US? I saw it in china and it would be great to see it tested. Automation of loading and emptying water would be awesome!

Thanks. It is not here yet and until it is I am not discusing it as an option, although I should have mentioned it in the video. Too many times I have heard it will come to the US and it never does. If it does I will certainly review it. I think it will be the first one to come to the states.

Wich would you advice? L20 max ultra or S7maxv ultra? Seem those are best at object avoidance, but now hesitate to buy L20 ultra beacause it has difficulties to find his way...

Can you please put stains in the grout? No one else is doing grout mopping tests!
If you mean dried stains to mop there is not yet a robot vacuum that will scrub grout especially like mine. That is because the pads are not designed to really tackle this.
A couple of months ago, I made a $20 deposit on the pre-release version of this L20 Robot. Should I follow through, or wait a few months for a firmware updated version?
If you would lose your discount (if you have one) I would go ahead and buy it. If you are concerned with the carpet issue it will be fixed if it has not already.

Yea Ecovacs has a large budget to pay for UA-cam reviews and I can't stand watching half of them. Nothing more than marketing hype. It really upsets me to the core to hear people being dishonest for money.
I never accept a dime from these companies so I can say what I want. The downside is this is a lot of work to test, observe and find the flaws with these robots. That is why I can only get 1 video out every 2 weeks.

@@jonathangoldsmith7832 Ahh OK. It does not ping pong anymore. It does still ride up on the trim with the mop extended.

No they have sensors to detect stairs under the edge of the robot.

only thing i dont like about dreame is EE and PCB quality is a tier lower than roborock. I tried one of their earlier D9s. Picked up dust better than my S6, but general nav was worse.
Maybe they improved. I havent looked in a couple years.
It has gotten better, but it is not so bad that it creates real issues except for the one I spoke about in the video. Just oddness sometimes.
