“Dayum, words are hard” I feel you. I took game design at Full Sail. Their Project and Portfolio 1 was kinda nuts. Peer grading would be interesting, but I know mine wouldn’t be as well received haha.
Hey man, fellow student as well. I feel the same way when it comes to getting a wake up call, these classes test you in numerous ways but most importantly they push you out of your comfort zone, which at first is why throwing in the towel seems more tempting. Until you sit and soak in why you love to do what you do, that's when the 2nd win kicks in and you push a little harder. This class has tested me so far, and has irritated me numerous times. I feel the same way man, my work is my work and I want it to represent MY work, not Full-Sails curriculum work, that just shows I can follow direction, it doesn't show who I am in the industry.

Before making this video I had to take really a step back and reflect if this was a "Me" issue, and even after that I still felt passionate with the idea of portfolio work should be "You". Obviously at this point I don't know how the other portfolio classes are structured, but if they are anything like this I think the school may need to adjust fire on how this class is presented and do a bit of restructuring. I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one thinking this way! Cheers to the "2nd Win" man!
Nice video! I think I’m a little further along at FullSail, I’ll be in Project Portfolio 3 next month. I will say that I was in your shoes at one point. The Portfolio is set to show case the skills learned in the previous classes. I also have a background in music production, but I had to learn to set that aside and really learn what they are teaching. Just follow the directions and you’ll be fine. I guess I can see that as far as showcasing skills learned, which is great for the students that haven't really created music / mixed on a professional level. Maybe my views will evolve as yours did the further I get along in the program, I just feel that being restricted to the specific guidelines that it creates a false "starting point" for those that maybe a bit advanced coming into this class. How have you been enjoying the course?
@@813rnc Oh sweet, just wait until you start getting into the "real" classes. Some are challenging but they are rewarding with the amount of first hand experience these instructors have.
