I love this movie, and I need to buy this soundtrack. I wish more people knew this movie. Some people see subtitles and immediately say no. But the fact that its in its native language makes it even better.
It is our chinese cultural blood to be honorable, humble and righteous. To fight for good, to be selfless & to help the poor, weak, widow & children. I hope many of us chinese remember our true heritage and walk with HONOUR & RESPECT to everyone.
God... Did I love this film. What a fantastic piece of artistic cinema. It was like watching a highly entertaining and thrilling game of chess in the way the warlords from each side handled their set pieces (soldiers) into the battlefield.
@foreignspade is spot on - romance of the three kingdom's is based on a historical account but makes up a number of characters and plot devices. The reason I liked the movie so much was because it also made up/altered lots of relationships but in a way that furthered the purpose of Romance - to explore themes of virtue, genius and courage. So when Guan Yu took on the entire Cao army it was a lie as Zhang Fei did this. Yet it was so true to Guan's character and Cao's that I preferred it that way
I wish this piece had had main melody (from the soundtrack video) in it, would fit perfectly after: 2:15 or any other place with similar theme, build up the rhythm with wardrums and then launch the main melody of the Red Cliff (first video at: 0:13). Actually they did it in part 13 of this soundtrack, but it felt quite weak because there were no drums, no rythm, no hype leading to return to the main theme. If you disagree, you should know that I am going to write my own Red Cliff soundtrack, with hookers and blackjack!
@Foreignspade Are you kidding me!? The movie was very historically accurate except at the end where Cao Cao was let go on the spot instead of after meeting Guan Yu. They even included the connecting ships and cutting the table corner! I think what you mean is that the Romance of The Three Kingdoms may be historically skewed, since it is a second person recount. My point is that it was historically accurate in terms of details and metaphors incorporated from the original story.
I'm totally obsessed with 5:00 to 5:20, to me one of the most epic piece of music composed in the last 20 years maybe. Anyone knows in what scene of the movie that part plays exactly? Please, I saw the long version of Red Cliff at least 4 times, but I can't remember when that part plays...
@watertakken LOL!!! Me too! ALL the time!!! I listen to this track when I'm driving, feel like the horse power in my car substitutes a real horse LOL!!!!
One of the things I hate about this movie is how they didn't have Zhang Fei yell someone to death. That would have been very hard to film, but would have been very nice to see indeed.
Can anyone upload the whole movie RedCliff 1? I watched it in cinema before, I think it is the best. I am in UK, cannot buy a VCD to rewatch, can anyone upload it?
@RSafect it got it right as in being (mostly) true to the book, which unfortunately is as scurate an account of the time as the illiad gives an accurate recount of the sige of troy.

metalb86 Don't you have dubs in your country? I watch Red Cliff in brazilian portuguese.

It plays near the beginning when Liu Bei’s people are running with the Zhao Yun Changban run interspersed with the battle under guan yu
