Calvin had a total 4 bad games his entire career he was was injured for 3 of those, 1 was Revis on lockdown and Calvin's hands were mangled from staffords bullets
Lmao
Bruh fr. Ebron deadass left cause Stafford was beamin that bitch
Also Calvin got shutdown ish just so his other receivers could strive in that game. I would take that all day as Calvin Johnson or the Lions.
Hurts your hands worse blocking 🤷
ok that is lowkey impressive that Stafford's bullets are so fast it messes up reciever's hands
Not to take away anything from the Legion of Boom, but look at Stafford’s pocket for 90% of his throws, he’s scrambling almost every play.
People also forget that the D line was nasty as well
That’s kinda the point of a defence
@@Halfguardhero They’re focusing on the the Legion of Boom, not the entire Seahawks defense. I’m saying the Legion of Boom got extra help against Megatron.
That Seahawks defense was nasty all the way but people seem to only look at the secondary
Best defense of all time. Ofc they had a good d line
Crazy stuff. Still sucks that Calvin retired early.
It's because its the Lions lol remember Barry Sanders retired early too
@@HipHopJunkie no it’s cuz he was so banged up from everyone targeting his knees to tackle him.
@@HipHopJunkie u don’t know football 😹 cj was so banged up every game
Dude he played that entire year with a broken thumb. An injury that led to his retirement. If you lived in Detroit you would know how much they use Calvin. So much so that other Defenses knew what the6 were running.
still received for 1200 yards in 8 games. Also, no shit...he WAS the lions offense. enough excuses, he got locked.
@@davari9032 he got doubled press 😂😂 and still had 9 catches the second game🥱🥱
They legit bombed to him half the time. And it worked a lot
@@dman-pp1vsfrr
I remember I was crushed when we lost this game. But we went on a nice run in the second half of the season. I remember Marshawn had a really good game against the Lions
By this time Megatrons hands were destroyed by Staffords passes...and he was playing all banged up
This video is so cringe, in the first game they held Calvin to 46 yards but the other receivers excelled. Being a distraction to the secondary and opening up opportunities for other receivers is just as valuable as catching the ball yourself since it’s a team sport. Secondly the second game vs the Seahawks was a botch call and the lions should have had the ball on like the one yard line. (If you watch the lions you’ll know that they get screwed like this in some way almost every season, look up “lions getting cheated”) Also keep in mind that the lions were a significantly worse team than the Seahawks at this time.
you actually wrote what I was thinking while watching this video.
Honestly lmao who gives a crap point of the video is they shut him down and held him to minuscule yards and yea the other receivers did good bit Bruh look at how many yards he had the rest of the season they obv still targeted him but he still went of for a least 100 yards and tbh u seem a lil Biest w the lions pfp lmao
@@chiefsfan6925 I’m a packers fan and this guy isn’t wrong at all.
Didnt even need to see the Lions pics to know whos a Lions fan lol
Video isn't cringe ur just mad
you can’t stay they “stopped him” look how many plays he was wide but Stafford over threw him or just blatantly threw a bad pass
Overthrew him with a bad Oline. Must be nice to have time in the pocket.
The refs botched the call but that doesn't matter? Not like it wouldn't have made it a 1 point game with Detroit having the ball around mid field with Matt Prater
Had they made the call, wouldn’t that have made it 1st and goal at the one for the lions?
@@ThMostOkGamr i watched the game live the whole thing is stupid bc if calvin gets the right call then the whole 2nd half of the video changes 😂😂
@@paulcooks1688 I remember when the Monday night football cast was on the field doing the post game and it was breaking news that there is a rule about batting the ball out of the end zone, what an embarrassment that was! lol
@@ThMostOkGamr ya man the lions coach just sat there saying 😐 doesn’t matter we should of won regardless just feels bad
Batting out the ball was a safety for two points and would have had the Seahawks kicking to the Lions with short field. With Prater for 3 that's a win.
How do you count an entire secondary versus one guy as an achievement?
Lol right
Because it wasn’t just one person following him around the whole game so he had a lot of matchups against different people on the defense
You're acting like they were all guarding him at once.....
@@topherthegopher6 pretty much one guy can’t hold that man you gotta double or triple team the guy and he’ll still make them look bad
@@lionelharris4089 facts only wr I’ve seen double pressed like he’s on punt 😂
That first game kam came back from holdout and punched the ball out of Calvins hands on the goal line to end the game was legendary.
The stop at 1 yard line is a legendary and stay forever.
That and the legion of boom are already forgotten about, the only player in thay era i can see becoming a future HoF is probably beastmode and wilson
Just remember it for what it is then. That was illegal touching to hit the ball out of the end zone. The refs screwed the Lions, yet again... Great punch-out, but that screwed the Lions.
So it took a whole secondary to shut him down, but Revis could do it by himself.
1 time bro lmao
Team sport. Y’all comment weird stuff.
So Rivis was on the field ALL BY himself?????? That's incredible.
@@trevorbredereck4095 Ya, obviously that is what I meant, 1 v 11. This was a historic moment in football history, Revis held his own against 10 other players. Shut up already.
That was their scheme. Revis was obviously one of the best to ever do it, but if he could catch he might have been the goat.
The perfect sequel to “When a prime Calvin Johnson went to Revis Island”
Normally: “what do u do when stranded on an island?”
Nfl receivers: “what do u do when stranded on Revis island?”
Yea but the Lions were horrible that year with Shaun Hill as our QB, the Jets defense was one of the best in football facing a very bad offense. Regis certainly had a big impact on that but they had an elite defense with the best corner vs a terrible offense so they focused in on Calvin.
Darrell revis was a PHUCKIN overrated player. Go watch his films. Held on to darn near every receiver he played against. Was famous only because his name was similar to Ellis Island. An island that hold prisoners of war. So stop holding his nuts.
@@davep1103 lol?
@@davep1103 gotta be sped
The lob was amazing but to be fair Stafford was under pressure pretty much the entire time and they only had to focus on one main wr
This video is exactly why Calvin Johnson was a top 3 WR of all time. THE ENTIRE LEGION OF DOOM had to cover him, and he still caught 3 for 46 yards
First, Wouldn’t call them the legion of doom, Second 3 rec for 46 yards isnt good 🤣
@@minimac5970 its great considering who was defending him
@@vigneshkrishnamurthy7938 no...it's not LMAO
@@davari9032 yeah it is
@@vigneshkrishnamurthy7938 46 yards is god awful💀 the fuck are you talking ab. he’s a HOF WR
Stafford boutta pop off this year. He’s super under-appreciated 🔥
As a Seahawks fan, I wish I could see the legion of boom in action, the play that I remember was Super Bowl 49 and the interception at the goal line. I didn’t know what was going on since I was too young to remember anything
IMO, it was only the Legion of Boom with Browner.
this wasnt even that long ago stop making me feel old
Man it was magical. I had season tickets for the 2012 season, and watched them grow up into the hungry killers that they were. Even though the Hawk's will suck this year, I'm excited for the potential of watching a young team get better each week again. I just hope Pete has 1 more run in him.
@@brohanfromrohan5771 Browner definitely helped put the BOOM along with Kam. But Maxwell was statistically an upgrade. I hate that Browner was instrumental in that goaline INT in Super Bowl 49
My man really said “the refs messed up the call but that doesn’t matter” TF Lol
"they botched the call but that doesn't matter". Ok bud, tell that to a Lions fan when we get bent over every year.
Exactly. No one knows how it feels unless you’re a lions fan. We get screwed literally almost every single game. I feel like the NFL purposely screws us over. I can name over 15 games where we lost because of the worst calls. The Dallas playoff game, the golden tate runoff garbage, the jim Schwartz throwing a challenge flag that somehow results in a TD for no reason… on and on and on and on. It was refreshing to see last year where Gurley screwed up and we won that game tho.
or a fucking saints fan just joke lol
Lions are cursed..n now ya got Geoff..good luck not going 0-16
Lions have a hard time playing 4 qrtrs of a game..having to pull how many 4th qrtr come backs...they do it to themselves
@@SolidPain6624 sure, thats why that franchise is a perpetual loser lmao whatever helps you sleep at night. The Seahawks got screwed out of a literal super bowl because of poor refereeing and turned it around in less than ten years and won a super bowl. The Ford family is to blame bud, not the refs
Do "when Jalen Ramsey trash talks Golden Tate in it went horribly wrong
You seen when he body slam him last year
Look at the highlights from the end of the game
It took all 3 of them focused on megatron. Revis did it himself... and it wasnt even half of 46 yards that he got...
I don’t know if I’d say he was in his prime at this time but cool vid👍🏻
Well they cheated to win so? It’s a penalty to knock the ball out of the endzone on a fumble.
That's not cheating lol that's the refs blowing a call. Also the defender could have easily recovered it if he wanted to.
@@crazykenproductions606 your last sentence doesn’t apply because he DIDN’T. He batted it out. Should’ve easily been called. There was a ref looking right at it.
Big facts
Refs were paid to blow that game
@@crazykenproductions606 But the NFL Gm said the call was blown and should've been overturned? and it's doesn't matter he didn't so here we are XD
bros talking like the lions had the best team ever 😭
if you think about it,it’s a 3v1,3 of the best in the game versus one amazing receiver
You cannot escape John Wolford, now make a video for him
We gonna talk bout that Matthew Stafford throw at 1:30
I’m a big Seahawks fan but I love Calvin Johnson also he never gave up and had little to no weaknesses
I remember that Titus Young performance. That game and the 2013 game vs T.Y. Hilton showed how you beat Sherman deep.
Legion of BOOM! FREAKING LEGENDARY
Yeah they good but Calvin is so much better then all 3 of them like think about it 3 motha fuckers to stop 1 man honestly 1 on 1 any them with Calvin they done
Goat
This story started during the practice week when Sherman changed his Twitter handle to Optimus Prime. The voice actor for OP actually called Sherm to wish him good luck lol.
Nothing about this video is particularly well done.
Megatron's helmet looks bigger than everyone else's.
Its crazy that this NFL is a decade old.
That seahawks game on Monday night was highway robbery.
I remember when wright knocked that ball out of bounds. I was like wtf r u doing dude?!
Found out I have a mint rookie Calvin Johnson, saving that shit
Pretty sure julio jones destroyed there coverage
Never happened
Ur right he was like the one wr they struggled most against
To be fair Julio Jones was injured for a 2013 game they played which was the best year of the legion of boom.
Titus Young was so damn good man wish he didn't get injury plagued. Him & Calvin woulda had a chance to go down as one of the best duos of all time.
Injuries were not the problem, he had extreme mental health issues
Yeah thay guy was lining up where calvin was supposed to be
The fact that it took one of the best defenses in history to stop one person
lmao it wasn't the whole LOB? he was only covered by Sherman and Thurmond in man and on long situations or cover Earl Thomas would assist, apart from that it was just CBs reading Stafford's eyes and ditching their assignment to make a play on the ball when it was headed to Johnson.
Just looking back on LOB, maybe crying
2015 doesn’t count cuz we had the worst OC in Lions history in Joe “5 screens in a row” Lombardi. Dude had Stafford, Tate, Megatron, Bush, and Ebron, but couldn’t score Jack against anybody.
Why is it all about LOB? The front end of that d was giving Matty Stafford a hell of a time and his throws were rushed too. Half of those balls were pretty poorly thrown.
This could be another big video
5:48 you can’t touch it before it goes out of the back of the end zone on a fumble
Couple of drops for calvin it seems
Dude talking about a whole defense taking on one guy lol be for real nobody can stop Calvin Johnson the rest of the lions wasn’t ready for the Seahawks
How many yards and receptions did he have the sexond game?
Matt Stafford's inaccurate passes shut down Calvin Johnson.
Casual
“Costed” is not a word
they needed 4 ppl to lock up calvin johnson 💀💀
I like how it takes 4 men to bet 1 man
5:36 got me hyped
Homie sounds like audit the audit with a cheaper mic
LOB was crazy wish they didn't leave or retire
woah man it took a whole secondary to stop one dude 🤯
I can tell his back was hurting ngl
To be fair, the entire offense was based around Calvin, partly because he was the only weapon they had, so when they faced a defense with 3 secondary all-stars, it was almost a given he wouldn’t have a great game. The Seahawks figured if you shut down Calvin you win the game, so that’s what they focused their entire defensive game plan around. The Lions also used Calvin way too much in those games, they didn’t adjust to the defensive scheme, and it didn’t help Stafford threw some bad balls. He was also secretly playing through a concussion. This guy had some ridiculous wear and tear from the amount of usage
Completely unbiased 2 of those hits were lowkey dirty. I know this was 2012 but still. All I’m all tho you gotta give it to Seattle. Holding Calvin twice (regardless of some pretty bad QB play) is ridiculous we’ll never see anything like it again
Calvin Johnson played for my college Boise State
holy shit they stopped greg jennings
so is there a rule that says only players can be inducted to the hall of fame if not once the lob is all retired they should be in there as the "leigon of boom"
Bro don’t lions fans go through enough u didn’t gotta make this video 😂😂😭
The legion of boom had 3 players basically covering 1 person the whole game 3v1 come on now
wait wait wait wait 4 members of LOB? Sherman, Kam, Thomas, Browner and K.J?
it’s so funny how there are wide open receivers every single time and they throw calvin the ball and it works better
It’s In Your eyes
How can u put a 1 prime wr against 4 prime cb and safety’s
Is no one going to talk about Staffords side arm pass at 1:30?
To be fair, Stafford has like 5 side arm passes like that every single game.
@@SevShazam True. We always see it at game speed. In slow motion I am in awe when you see the arms trying to bat it down but he threads the needle and throws a dime
Matt Stafford was throwing meatballs
just goes to show that the back 7 can focus on one guy and shut him down. but suffer from it
2012: the Legion of Boom locks makes a severely injured decoy slow to get up and holds him to 46 yards on 5 targets. DOMINATED (what?)
2015: Megatron has one pass that makes it to him jarred out but otherwise catches the rest, not stats given. DOMINATED.
I hope you weren't on the debate team, because yo really didn't back up your points whatsoever
They wouldn’t do that to Davante Adams tho 😈
they could have
Bro i know im a calvin johnson fan but this is a whole defense vs 1 wr with no run game
He still caught 7 passes in that last game
Looking at these comments is upsetting. Instead of looking at how great the LOB is.. they make excuses on why a PRIME Calvin Johnson Got Locked. Tough.. just tough
Calvin johnson didn’t get shutdown he did great
How was the fumble at the goal line a botched call...?
He gets hurt the second play....
This is because they put so much emphasis stopping him but that allowed other guys to get open. The second game he had more yards then the first and the second game Detroit should had gotten the ball on the 1 yard line. The Seahawks player knocked the ball out of the endzone Detroit automatically gets it on the 1. If a lions player is the last to touch before it goes out bounds then Seahawks get on which now is the 25 yard line
It cost them the game, not costed.
Realize that it took five 5 star defenders to hold him then when all it took was darelle revis
but the thing is it’s 1 vs 3 and they still let up that much.
Dude it’s like 4 vs one guy
He should’ve had that TD in the corner
I wouldn't say the LoB had their way with Megatron in that first game. More like Stafford couldn't deliver the ball and the ones they did connect on were hospital passes...
Imagine if Megatron played for a good team
That’s how you know Julio better
that looked more on stafford than calvin johnson
To be fair a lot of those incomplete passes were because of stafford
Tbh we all know Seattle shouldve lost the 2015 game because all the rules analysis said that was illegal batting of the ball and would’ve remained Detroit lions ball at the 1
So you’re telling me my Seahawks is the reason Calvin didn’t eclipse 2000 receiving yards in a season? Hahaha
a lot of salty fans in the comments, many of you are mentioning that Calvin Johnson had a broken thumb, last time I checked a broken thumb doesn't effect your ability to get open, Johnson was locked down and the only aspect that would be affected by a broken thumb is your catching ability, Johnson dropped 2 of his targets that should have been caught, assuming that he would of caught both if he was fully healed he would of went 5/14 in receptions so what's your point? The LOB locked down Johnson
So 1 guy vs 22 and this was great game.....how bro
The LOB shut down Johnson, but they left everybody else open.
Calvin didn’t get thrown a good deep ball once geez
They matched up again 3 years later and he was held to seven catches for 56 yd. Zero TDs.
Not impressive unless it was 1 on 1
In a draft I would have picked Megatron over the entire LoB.
