lUFTWAFFE ran on wood alcohol- (methanol); race cars also.
Methanol is ok for those engines designed to last for a year or two.
Methanol corrodes normal engines witrhin two years.

In order to stop corrosion, you have to speed up the engine, stop the fuel, and open the throttle to purge the engine during shutdown.
