So the composers list is a bit different from the original. Yasunori Mitsuda, ACE, Kenji Hiramatsu, and Manami Kiyota all return, with Mitsuda having a much more prominent role compared to the original where he composed the ending theme. Where We Used to Be is actually composed by Mitsuda. Mariam Abounnasr also joins in, and she arranged a lot of Mitsuda's pieces for this game and in 3. Yoko Shimomura did not return for either 2 or 3 sadly, though she's given special thanks in 3's DLC credits.
Woah ! I mean, I knew you had a great time with your playthrough of Xenoblade 1 but I seriously did not expect you to simply jump into the second game right after. Not saying anything else about it, but it'll be a different experience yet familiar I'm sure 👍 Enjoy the music in the meantime!
Yeah XC1: blood in the logo probably referencing Metal Face FC: feathers for Melia XC2: firery logo in homage to Pyra Torna: golden logo with the tornan symbol XC3: light motes for the offseers FR: combination of 1's, 2's and 3's logos for obvious reasons
i think KOS-MOS was one of the first Blades i ever got 😅not knowing how lucky i was, i just though "oh i know KOS-MOS, neat" and didn't think much about it after that
I believe Gormott Day was the first track of the game publicly heard, way back in the game's original teaser trailer; it was specifically the part where the choir came in. It was also a very notably different version of it too, so that's neat to hear.
The fact that you're starting Xenoblade 2 so soon after finishing 1 is the biggest surprise of my day. A pleasant surprise, but a surprise nonetheless.
Man, I still listen to XC2 tracks till this day. They're all so damn good. Not exaggerating when I say XC2 has the MOST tracks that I like in any single video game. It's hard to find a game where almost every single track in it is *phenomenal*, not just good.
Mitsuda is basically only involved with the main theme and cutscene music. You can assume every battle theme and overworld theme is ACE+/Hiramatsu and everything that makes you emotional is Mitsuda and his studio. There is one notable exception in xbc2 where ACE+ made a song as emotional as Mitsuda, and that song is definitely a fan favorite
Yoko Shimomura actually wasn't involved in Xenoblade outside of 1. Instead Mitsuda is back to composing more tracks for the game and his company also handled all of the recording of 2's and 3's soundtracks.
Xenoblade 2 is such a fun game and happy to see u jump into it! The Gormott theme is so relaxing, its like running around on a sunny day with a smile on your face looking for stuff that needs to be done.
You may never see this comment lol since I know you want to avoid comments, but I just want to say it makes me extremely happy to see you are going through 2. Can't wait to see those videos start popping up on the vod channel as I loved you 1 playthrough. Still one of my favorite franchises of all time, and imo it deserves all the the love it gets.
It's funny how you say Gormott sounds like an old school JRPG overworld theme, because Xenoblade's world design feel like a modern version of the overworld, where you traverse a large space to get to a point of interest.
Hey Jesse! Since I can’t comment on the vod I just want to say it genuinely made my day that you started 2 so soon. Excited to see how you feel about this journey :))
Wait, it's already up! ;w; I just realised, thank you so much for kinda letting me know! I'm so excited, thank you Jesse! Xenoblade 2 is my personal favourite Xenoblade game, it was my first one and holds a very, very special place in my heart. It was also my favourite game in general for a whole while! I know you're probably not reading comments right now, understandably, but I hope you have so much fun with 2, as you did with 1, I think it's really special!
I’m really glad to see you on this journey. It’s my favorite game series and I’ve loved seeing your music journey progress into playing the games. Hope you enjoy it!
didnt have the time yet to watch your VODs on Xenoblade but im sooo glad that you liked it so much to play the second one as well. i hope you will enjoy that one at least as much as the first game
Dude. I am PSYCHED that you are playing this. Not only is this my favorite game in the series, and my favorite JRPG, but it's probably my favorite single player game of all time. The game has a very different feel to the first, so you'll feel a little lost or even maybe disappointed in the first few chapters if you really really loved the first game. Stick with it. This game has hands-down the best 2nd half in the whole series and an insane ending. Oh, did I mention this game also has the coolest world and best music in the series too?
Yoko Shimomura actually never returned to Xenoblade after the first game. Yasunori Mitsuda composed the title theme for 2! He became music director for 2 and has made most of the games’ leitmotifs for 2, 3, and their DLCs. Also the feathers for Definitive Edition’s logo represent Melia
Nice! What a coincident I just got the official OST yesterday through the mail. I was ugly crying most of the time finally listening to it in such clear quality. 😂
8:55 Since it doesn't seem like anyone else commented about it yet, "prologue" is before the events of a story and "epilogue" is after the events of the story. Edit: nvm you looked it up a few seconds later lol
Mitsuda only did the vocal theme of XB1, but he's got a bigger role in the XB2 and XB3 OSTs. This is Mitsuda, he's in charge of a lot of the important story and title songs. You really took the idea that it was Yoko and ran with it in this video. If you do that too often your brain will incorrectly learn artist's styles. Because I dont hear Yoko in this at all. In XB1 Yoko Shimomura did the title theme, Prologue A & Prologue B, Shulk and Fiora, Colony 9 day and night, and Unfinished Business.
@@fearthemightyedelgard8137 Oh yeah, I forgot about the normal Bionis battle theme and the credits. ...and failed to mention hometown because I got distracted when I started typing out Colony 9 and then forgot. Thanks!
I would say you're in for a wild ride with 2, but that's not until Xenoblade 3. Super glad you're playing through the series. One of my favorite things is watching people react to these games
I’m really hyped! Wasn’t sure if you were going to plan on doing the post game content or play XC2 or something else entirely. But, I’m pleasantly surprised and deeply excited!
The main menus theme still makes me emotional having beaten the game. It’s like dearly beloved for that 2 is still my favourite of the series but 3 is also amazing. Also for some reason gormont reminds me slightly if sonic. The violins go “rolling around at the speed of sound”
I know you didn’t know any better, but it still pains me to hear you give Yoko Shiomura credit for Yasunori Mitsuda’s music. She had no involvement in the series after the original. Everyone else is the same, but Mitsuda came in to take on the role of audio director. He mostly composes the main themes and songs for important cutscenes, but also oversees the other musicians as well as the recording process. His long-time arranger actually did some excellent composition work in Xenoblade 3: Future Redeemed!
Waking up to see you start Xenoblade 2 so soon I had to do a double take. Xenoblade 2 is my favourite game of all time and I really hope you enjoy it despite some of its flaws and symptoms of being somewhat rushed. I know you have a discord so I suggest maybe having one or two people who know the game well as backup if you need explaining anything as by now I'm sure you've noticed that the tutorials of this game are frankly pretty half-assed and you can't review them, that and the combat has a lot of systems.
Gormott is interesting. It really sounds like they are trying to replicate the Gaur Plains sound, and I feel like they mostly succeed, but something about the sampling (not sure if they are real violins) sounds off when they hit repeated notes? The quality seems muffled/low. It's not a bad song, but I was surprised at how much less "live" it sounded even compared to the ORIGINAL Gaur Plains.
If XC2 startles you at first, please don’t be turned off. It’s my favorite in the series (with XC1 a very close second). It’s a very fun game once you get into it
Glad to hear you've loved the first game to the point of going right into the second one ! I must say though, I wonder if you should play 2 right ahead or rather play X first. Story wise, X is not "important" to play before 2, but gameplay wise it might be weird going back to it after 2 (and maybe 3). But even though it is closer to XC1's gameplay than to the others, it's still quite different from the rest of the series so it's up to you. In any case, it is an awesome game (and my favorite of the series actually) so I strongly advise you to not skip it if you can !
Jesse: "Don't expect me to play the entire series. I will play 1 because I am hooked on the music but that doesn't mean I will contniue with the rest." Us: "Fine, sure. No problem. (yeah let the man talk, if he likes 1 he's hooked and will continue anyways) Jesse: "So, I beat 1 and now I started 2" Us: "Yeah, shocker. Have fun, dude!" It really is the same thing everytime someone gets into the series. I love it.
“Where we used to be” was one of my ex’s favorite songs from xenoblade. We were together for 6 years and broke up exactly one month ago. Xenoblade is my favorite JRPG series and many of the memories of its music are shared with her. I couldn’t help but cry listening to this again
There's nothing particularly spoilery in the logo for any of the games, but if you want to learn about it by playing the games first-hand, then I certainly encourage doing so. Otherwise, I'll provide an explanation down below! HOWEVER, if you HAVEN'T beaten Xenoblade 1, DO NOT CONTINUE. The logos are not spoilery on their own, however, my explanation for Future Connected DOES hint at MAJOR spoilers for XC1. Xenoblade (Wii/N3DS) - Has splatters and part of the 'X' has a paintbrush texture, obviously referencing the style of the various symbols that appear on the Monado. Xenoblade X - This one is a little more vague, but the diagonal slices shattering bits of the logo and the very worn texture on the letters communicates almost a post-apocalyptic vibe, something that's bruised and battered through many an ordeal, which is reflective of the events that kick off the story of the game. The aforementioned 'slices' appearing as though they were caused by gunshots due to the perfectly straight, parallel trajectories. Additionally, the X at the end is textured to look more like a hologram to display the hardcore sci-fi setting in the game as a departure to the fantasy/sci-fi blend in the numbered games. Since all the other logos are primarily white with the number (or the subtitle in DE's case since XC1 isn't formally titled 'Xenoblade 1') being red, the fact that the second 'X' in X's logo is instead blue is a further hint at it being the biggest departure from the series' conventions, story-wise. Xenoblade 2 - Pretty straight-forward. It's covered in flames, with fire being the element of one of the main characters. Xenoblade 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country - It just adds a golden banner beneath the previous logo, with the emblem on the left being the same symbol of the in-game nation of Torna. It's difficult to tell what the emblem itself represents, but if I had to guess, it's a stylized view of the capital, Auresco, circled by the wings of the Tornan titan, similar to the game's box art. Xenoblade: Definitive Edition/Future Connected - DE reuses Xenoblade 1's logo, but the DE text has feathers behind it to represent the new epilogue story, Future Connected. Future Connected's logo, on the other hand, also contains feathers due to the prominence of the High Entia throughout the story (with Melia herself being the main character). However, unlike DE, these feathers are not pure white, they are black. Any color of High Entia wings that ISN'T a bright white is a trait caused by being of mixed race. Due to the events of Xenoblade 1, mixed-race High Entia make up the majority of High Entia present in the setting of Future Connected, and this serves an important role in the story of the epilogue. In addition, due to the logo being gold, the smatterings that remain from the original logo are more prominent and darker in color, appearing like dirt on the surface of the logo, likely a reference to the events of the base game that led to the state of a major location in the epilogue, though this could just be a reach on my part since all three expansion logos are gold most likely just for the sake of consistency rather than for any reason pertaining to themes or story. Xenoblade 3 - There are motes of light emanating from the lettering, obviously being a reference to the motes of light that are released after any person dies in Xenoblade 3. Most people will tell you these motes are specifically referencing the fact that two of the main characters are off-seers, but in-game, these motes show up regardless of whether or not an off-seer is present. Really the only association with the motes that off-seers have is that they can change the red motes to blue motes. Since the logo is in white, of which no white motes appear in the game, we cannot be sure which motes they actually do represent. Being a color that represents none of them could instead be taken to represent ALL of them, which is more inclusive of the themes of the game. There's also a version of the logo that contains the in-game term marker within the 3. Xenoblade 3: Future Redeemed - Like the other expansions, this one reuses the logo of the base game. As for the subtitle, since the expansion is essentially an homage to the entire series (except X), the 'F' reuses the brush stroke from Xenoblade 1 and flames appear at the end of the logo akin to Xenoblade 2's, ultimately blending all three games into one. Unfortunately, I didn't find any deeper meaning in this logo. It's purely referencial.
XC2 can be weird sometimes (both in gameplay systems or story moments especially during the first 4 chapters) but it's one of the best overall experiences I've ever had with a videogame. It get's progressively better and better all the way through. I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
A lot of people really hate Xenoblade 2. It might be off-putting in the beginning with the battle system (and the story), but once you get into the thick of it, its a lot of fun, and the story really picks up as well. Hope you enjoy it!
The battle system is great. Especially once you learn how to stutter step with auto attacks. It's just very complicated, and the tutorial does a shoddy job of explaining it.
Ah hell yeah My parasocial internet uncle playing my favorite game while I'm lonely and depressed?! Definitely just contributing to my spiral lmao but I'll take it over the nothing I was doing otherwise Thank you
Well, you played DE so then you saw the tie-in to 2 ; I won't say anything more because it would be MASSIVE SPOILERS (the title of the first song actually is as well) 2 took a while to grow on me, and I especially didn't care for the loot box mechanics... But it was pretty solid. Again, not as memorable as the first game but still fun and totally worth you time - especially if you also picked up Torna. Hope you enjoy it man, it's a wild ride. Can't wait to see your reaction to the ending , it blew my mind ^^b I still haven't played 3, hoping they maybe a bundle with all 3 games and their DLC
Jesse immediately going into Xenoblade 2 was quite the surprise, although it’s understandable if he wants to avoid spoilers slipping out. I think he’ll be pleasantly surprised at how different of an experience XB2 is compared to the first one, I already know he’ll love the soundtrack.
I wasn't expecting you to jump into 2 so fast! Xenoblade 2 is definitely the most DIVISIVE of all the Xenoblade Games. It was heavily flawed for a handful of reasons to the point where the DEVELOPERS THEMSELVES said it wasn't as good as Xenoblade 1, and yet it is the HIGHEST GROSSING GAME ON SWITCH and many peoples first time into Xenoblade at all. So the community is a lot of Xenoblade 1 Puritans vs 'Anime Cringe' Xenoblade 2. Xenoblade was cringe in a lot ways, but there was something it did right despite how cringe inducing it was. It had a story that makes you feel just so Human, especially towards the end.
I disagree, Blade 2 is just as much about humanity as Blade 1. I only noticed 1 big plot hole in Blade 2. Not only that, but Zanzas characterization was drastically expanded upon . From a mad God to a simple yet flawed man with a desire to create a utopia. Yet being human allows for such an altruistic desire to become tainted by our nature. Desire, altruism, and hubris are are aspects of humanity that Blade 2 focus on.

Nice! XC2 has my favorite music and some amazing guitar tracks. All of the games are fantastic but XC2 topped it for me.
Lemme guess...3 is coming after? 😜
XC2 can be weird sometimes (both in gameplay systems or story moments especially during the first 4 chapters) but it's one of the best overall experiences I've ever had with a videogame. It get's progressively better and better all the way through. I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Yoko Did Not do XC2's Titel Scream theme She only did XC1 title Scrams Theme
Is there a place where people can comment on the XC playthroughs? Because i always love to read them :c

Use Arts Recharge pouch items.
If you want a good track from X, I can recommand to you "Wir fliegen". My favorite music of this game
Wooooo ngl, you may wanna take a break after XBC 1, it may quite draining to play big RPGs back-to-back.
A lot of people really hate Xenoblade 2. It might be off-putting in the beginning with the battle system (and the story), but once you get into the thick of it, its a lot of fun, and the story really picks up as well. Hope you enjoy it!
I've just seen videos saying it's the best of the series lol
The battle system is great. Especially once you learn how to stutter step with auto attacks. It's just very complicated, and the tutorial does a shoddy job of explaining it.
Ah hell yeah
My parasocial internet uncle playing my favorite game while I'm lonely and depressed?!
Definitely just contributing to my spiral lmao but I'll take it over the nothing I was doing otherwise
Thank you
Hang in there bro, I know exactly where you're coming from 🤙
Do you spoil Xenoblade 1 in your Xenoblade 2 playthrough? I kinda want to watch, but I haven't finished Xenoblade 1 yet.
He will definitely reference Xenoblade 1's story, be careful
Best game in the series.
Well, you played DE so then you saw the tie-in to 2 ; I won't say anything more because it would be MASSIVE SPOILERS (the title of the first song actually is as well)
2 took a while to grow on me, and I especially didn't care for the loot box mechanics... But it was pretty solid. Again, not as memorable as the first game but still fun and totally worth you time - especially if you also picked up Torna.
Hope you enjoy it man, it's a wild ride. Can't wait to see your reaction to the ending , it blew my mind ^^b
I still haven't played 3, hoping they maybe a bundle with all 3 games and their DLC
You forgot to disable the comments on this video.
I can't believe you shadowdropped xenoblade 2 episode 1. but hey I'm not complaining
For XC2 do consider the Japanese voices. I'm not a dub hater when it comes to games but hoo boy. hooooo boy
Jesse immediately going into Xenoblade 2 was quite the surprise, although it’s understandable if he wants to avoid spoilers slipping out. I think he’ll be pleasantly surprised at how different of an experience XB2 is compared to the first one, I already know he’ll love the soundtrack.
hope he try japanese voice too.
XC2 is my least favorite of the trilogy (of course not counting with X), but I hope you have fun with it!
