Oeschinensee is a great day trip from Interlaken! Easily fit it into your itinerary with one of our done-for-you Swiss Travel Guides! aplinsinthealps.com/guides/
This video has made me emotional 🥰 We have just returned from 8 days in the Jungfrau region, and our favourite spot was at Oeschinensee lake. I actually proposed to my girlfriend from the top above the lake so this place will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Thanks for all of your amazing Switzerland videos. Our itinerary was all based around your perfect recommendations.
Wow! You couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to propose! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a memorable trip here. Congratulations on your engagement!!
Thank you for this video. We never would have know this place existed. My new favorite place on the planet. We went mid December and the ground was covered in snow. The lake and mountains are beautiful.
Great video and I would totally recommend the Berner Oberland pass. Used it to take multiple gondola rides during my stay which would otherwise cost a bomb.
I went to Grindelwald & Wengen in June 2023 (it was my first time to Switzerland), and I read about Oeschinensee, but didn't exactly know if would be a big hike. But I def going to visit it next summer! This year I also used your videos to travel to Grindelwald and understand the train system, it was so helpful! You two made traveling to Switzerland so much easier for us, keep up the good work!
I was born and raised in Kandersteg and the Oeschinensee is the most beautiful lake I've ever ssen. Your video is really well done and very informativ, keep it going. Thanks so much 💗💓
Another great video, with full of advice to make our trip to Switzerland a breeze. Thanks again… ! We met at the train station on that day. I was so happy to see you and be able to thank you in person. All your videos helped me to plan our trip and have a WONDERFUL time! Thank you so much ! The Berner Oberland pass is really a money saver. As for the hike, we did the same, with the dive in the lake too! So refreshing. Hope to see you on our next trip to Switzerland😀
We remember meeting you! And we’re SO happy to hear that you had such a wonderful time in Switzerland! Maybe we will see you again on your next visit 😊 And you’re right - the Berner Oberland pass is such a good deal 👍
Woww can't w8 to see full video. This was one of our best place and favourite one. We saw you previous video about this lake and we added to our trip and we loved it. Thank you guys for bringing back again this beautiful lake. I miss so much Switzerland. When i am sad and i cry i just watch your videos and feel so nice after watching beautiful Switzerland. I wish i was living there.
I came to the Heuberg viewpoint in October, in the evening. I hiked all the way up from Kandersteg. Extremely demanding hike. But the view of the lake, including the sunset, is truly worth it. I saw ibexs too!
I’m a real fan of Kandersteg. When I worked at Kuoni travel, I went to kandersteg with colleagues one March on what was called an “educational” where you look around the hotels we sell. We were given some ski passes for skiing around Oschinensee. 3 of us were useless at it so spent the afternoon tobogganing back to the village (down what I now know is the access road!) I was able to come back in the summer staying at the hotel Blumisalp with my wife because they gave me a week’s free half board! The Oschinensee is a magical place - we loved it (and the mountain coaster - although the pfinstegg one has better views!) - it’s a great day trip from Interlaken etc.
On which trail is this place with the stunning views (as seen in 5:26)? We are only planning to do the easy trail and not the panoramic trail, and wanted to know whether we can get that view. Also would it be possible to hike till this view point, and then hike back to the easy trail?
Loved the video! How long does it take to hike to the viewpoint you got your favorite photo. I know we don't want to hike the three hours for that complete trail. But, thinking we walk up to this viewpoint and back down. We plan on doing this on our travel day from Grindlewald to Tasch, if, the timing work. Thanks!
This has been on my bucket list for so long! I'm going there shortly, but I'm not the best hiker and I think the trail will still be a little snowy. I wonder if there's a higher point on the shorter trail. Just to get a view of the lake from above (similar to the post card perfect view 😁)
It's hard to say. The upper trail really is the best way to get those picture perfect views. But honestly it's so beautiful - even when you're standing right by the lake!!
How to reach on top of oeschinenese lake (View point) without a gondola when gondola is closed. Is there any transport available during the gondola maintenance period?
What month was it when you hiked in the snow? Were you able to do the entire loop hike in the snow? We are going in late May and hoping to do that loop hike. My wife and I (from Florida) discovered Switzerland in 2019 and can’t get enough of it. Next month will be our fifth time to Switzerland. We have lived in Utah, Colorado and Idaho and I feel that the alps are much prettier (more lush/green valleys that contrast the white capped peaks) than the Rockies. FYI, my wife and I preferred the mountain views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains compared to the mountains around and including the Matterhorn. Both are amazing and pretty similar but the Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald valleys seemed more green/lush. I can’t imagine a more beautiful alpine region than Switzerland. The amazing trains, gondolas etc. are the icing on the cake! Thanks for all your amazing videos!
We were there in the end of the May when there was still a little snow, but we were able to complete the entire loop safely. As for comparing the views between Zermatt and the Jungfrau Region - we've got a video coming out next month that's all about that!! :)
HELP!! I bought your 1 week guide to the Jungfrau Region. We went to this area 5 years ago but on the 3rd day I broke both knees, had surgery in Interlaken and stayed in the hospital for a week. Needless to say, we saw Lucerne when we flew in and then went to Wengen. Saw Grimmelwald, quick stop in Lauterbrunnen, and then to Grindelwald. We are going back in October and I do have a place in Interlaken for the first 5 nights and since I couldn't decide on a train trip (really wanted to go from Visp (?) to Chur as I heard it was really pretty or down to the St Moritz area but........could not decide and put it off and now we are about 4 weeks out and I need to know what to do. I need to find us an AirBnB quickly. This is SO not like me to not really plan out our vacations. I love all the planning but there has been a lot going on & I am anxious about returning due to our accident. Do you think it best to try and stay around the Interlaken, Thun, Spiez , Lauterbrunnen or go down to Kandersteg for a few nights and then the train ride or just back to Lucene? I am truly panicked now that it's down to the wire. 😳 We have another 4 nights and on the 5th night we need to stay in Zurich to return home the following day.
So sorry to hear about your experience last time!! After your 5 nights in Interlaken, you could go to Kandersteg or Adelboden for 2 nights, then 2 nights in Luzern. Or you could do 2 nights in Luzern and 2 in Appenzell, for example. You really can't go wrong!!
Hey guys! I LOVE your content. I’ll be visiting Switzerland at the beginning of May next year and I’m really worried about the cable car being closed for my visit to this lake or other lakes. Do you know how I can check if it will be definitely closed? Thank you so so much!!!
What is the best winter hike to take with a view? We will be there February 26-March 5th! Taking a day trip from Interlaken, but unsure of what hike would be most worth it. Thanks!!
Love this video! It was super helpful. If you have the Berner Oberland pass, do you still need to get tickets for the cable car or just scan your pass to hop on?
Hi there, this video is so helpful! I’m looking to go to Blausee afterwards. I have the Berner pass and read that we get 50% in discount for Blausee. How and where can I book with the 50% discount?
So glad this helped you! You should be able to show your BO Pass at Blausee when you purchase your ticket, and they'll give you the discount then. Enjoy!
There are! For more info, go here: www.sbb.ch/en/travel-information/stations/find-station/station.7475.kandersteg.html Scroll down to the "Equipment and mobility at the station" for more size details.
We recommend taking the cable car up from Kandersteg, then following the hike, and then it’s just a short walk from the lake to the cable car station. You can find more details on our blog (linked in the description!)
Hi, I am hoping you see this comment. How do I purchase it at the half price if i have a Swiss pass? Do I need to go to the ticket booth for the discount? Is it possible to pay at the ticket booth with credit card or do I need cash? Thanks!
Since you are walking towards the lake and the mountains, you get amazing views as being higher. You wouldn’t get it by doing it counterclockwise (you would have to turn around constantly to enjoy the view). And you wouldn’t be able to swim in the lake at the end of the hike
I did the walk counterclockwise last week. It’s actually more fun in my opinion and the comment above me is kinda wrong as the route allows you to see the oeschinensee alot. The views are gorgeous and way better than things like the Schilthorn and Lauterbrunnen imo
@@yasmimisabela This is definitely possible but the ‘proper’ way up is pretty empty while the ‘proper’ way down (or reverse way up) has a small restaurant (only accepts cash) , swiss cows, a small waterfall and some small houses on the trail. Depending on what you like, make your own choice! :)
Hey guys you both are great ! But the issue with your videos are you are too much on hiking … you should make a videos such a way that people who do not want to hike ( like with kids ) can also get a great insights

You’re right that the Berner Oberland Pass is super helpful - and saves a ton of money! So glad you used that!

So glad to hear your loving the videos! The scenery is amazing and extra amazing in person!
the berner oberland pass is so worth it !! highly recommend
It is a great pass!
Stunningly gorgeous presentation, this whole place is just unreal! Breathtaking landscapes and simply professional storytelling guys!
Thanks for the encouragement! This place really is breathtaking!
Thank you!!! We did the clear lake last second because of this video. It was being gorgeous!!!
Isn't it just beautiful! So glad you got to experience it!
That kid in the boat at 9:38 was excited about something 😆
Ha! Maybe because it was so beautiful?!?! :)
I came to the Heuberg viewpoint in October, in the evening. I hiked all the way up from Kandersteg. Extremely demanding hike. But the view of the lake, including the sunset, is truly worth it. I saw ibexs too!
That's a hard hike! But it sounds like the payoff was worth it!
Thank you for this video. Doing this hike tomorrow! Very helpful!
Hope you have a great time!!

Great vlog from one of my favorite Swiss lakes.
Thanks! And we agree that this lake is pretty amazing!
this video was very cool and helpful!! thank you so much
Glad to hear! Thanks for letting us know!
Thanks for the video. It’s very informative ❤
You're welcome! Thanks for letting us know it was helpful.
your pronunciation of the swiss villages and citys is very good !
You are so kind, thank you! We’re learning German but we still need a lot of practice 😊
Super useful information. Thanks.

Hi there! Depending on your hiking speed, maybe 45 minutes to an hour to get up there? It's definitely less walking than completing the whole loop.
Love this one
Thanks for letting us know!
kyaaa, funny, I was just looking at a nice hiking route around Oeschinensee for tomorrow and then this video popped up.
Perfect timing! Hopefully this was helpful as you planned your day at Oeschinensee!

Gorgeous!
Is it possible to fly a drone in the lake area?
It is so gorgeous! I'm not sure about the rules for flying drones though. We don't have one so I've never looked into it.
Enjoyed your video. Is there a version of the Berner Oberland pass that is more than 10 days?
Unfortunately, no. We've asked for one many times :)

Nope, no tickets needed, just scan and hop right on!!
Amazing
We agree....it's pretty amazing!
Hi! In which season did you go there? September?? thanksss
Hi there! We went in August of 2023!
So I think you said you can take a cable car up to the lake if you can't hike?
Absolutely! You'll find info on what it costs to ride the cable car in this video.
Enjoy!
Do i need to hike up in this lake to see the beauty or I can do that from the base ? Can you pls confirm once ?
It's still plenty beautiful even if you're just standing down at the lake!!
there are lockers for storing luggage in Kandersteg ?
There are! For more info, go here: www.sbb.ch/en/travel-information/stations/find-station/station.7475.kandersteg.html
Scroll down to the "Equipment and mobility at the station" for more size details.
Amazing! If you take the 3 hour hike to the lake to get the elevated view, do you have to hike 3 hours back or is there a faster hike out?
We recommend taking the cable car up from Kandersteg, then following the hike, and then it’s just a short walk from the lake to the cable car station. You can find more details on our blog (linked in the description!)
Eurail global pass is there discount??
Good question! You can travel to Kandersteg for free with a Eurail pass, but there's unfortunately no discount on the gondola ride.
The photo taken by the person on the bench when u had visited last time what month was it . Mountains with little snow?
That was in May! But sometimes snow is gone by May, sometimes it lingers in the mountains till mid-June. Just depends on the winter!
how many hours into the hike was that beautiful postcard view?
It takes about an hour from the cable car station
Hi, Can I use drone there?
Hi there! We're not really sure since we don't currently own a drone (but we've thought about getting one!!)
Maybe I missed it but after the 3 hour hike to the lake, how do you get back?
It’s a loop so you start at the station and end at the lake, which is just a few minutes from the station.
Hi, I am hoping you see this comment. How do I purchase it at the half price if i have a Swiss pass? Do I need to go to the ticket booth for the discount? Is it possible to pay at the ticket booth with credit card or do I need cash? Thanks!
You can buy from a ticket booth or machine at the station and tell them you have the Swiss Travel Pass. They accept credit cards too!
Hi guys
Is this close round May ?
It usually opens again for the summer sometime in mid-May. You can find exact dates on their website: www.oeschinensee.ch/en/
When is the best month to go?
Totally depends on why you're going. July-September are best for hiking but also the most crowded.
Which time of the year u guys visited this lake?
We filmed in in late August 2023!
Would you recommend hiking counterclockwise instead of clockwise ie going down to the lake first then hike up to around back to the view point?
Since you are walking towards the lake and the mountains, you get amazing views as being higher. You wouldn’t get it by doing it counterclockwise (you would have to turn around constantly to enjoy the view). And you wouldn’t be able to swim in the lake at the end of the hike

Hi, is this a feasible day trip from Murren?
It could be! It will take about 3 hours via public transport, but it’s possible!
What’s the name of the Swiss hiking app you mentioned?
Swiss Topo! We love it.
May I ask what hiking app do you use to keep track in Swiss?
We use and recommend Swiss Topo!
Going there by foot this year :D! To be in Switzerland and burn through that cash for gondolas seems a nonsense. Unless you got kids or are elderly.
Feet are the cheapest transportation!!! :)
With a week in Berner oberland this looks worth a trip?
There are so many possibilities, but this is for sure worth a visit!
Glacier 3000 possible on same day since its nearer?
It’s unlikely that you could do both in one day since they are still 3 hours and 15 minutes apart by public transportation!
J y suis allee plusieures fois et je montais a pied ...tres joli la haut ....je suis aussi allee plus haut
Without an annual half-ticket, it's better to stay at home :D
So not to go bankrupt ;)
Good thing a Half Fare Card almost always saves you money while you’re traveling Switzerland!!

i wanted to see this video in 4k :(
It would be nice in 4K but we currently don’t have the equipment for 4K videos. Maybe one day! 😊
All the same only DIFFERENT NAME 😂
Hey guys you both are great ! But the issue with your videos are you are too much on hiking … you should make a videos such a way that people who do not want to hike ( like with kids ) can also get a great insights
Keep up the hiking ones too! We hike with 3 little kids and this is super helpful 👍
It’s the country best for mountains
They’re hikers so of course this would emphasize hiking….
Horrible, at least they could have learned how to pronounce the name correctly! Tip: it is not Oeschinenzay!
We’re learning high German, but this is how the locals pronounce it with the local Swiss German dialect 😁
