I love the fact it’s two fights, but the last hit Uka Uka PURPOSELY tries to kill Crash whilst Aku Aku interrupts, both causing that explosion as an effect.
I love how it seems that way. Uka Uka realising the problem is Crash and so goes for the throat, only for Aku Aku to remain steadfast in protecting Crash.
Yes, it's true! The Bandicoot has brought all of the crystals, and all of the gems to me! Ultimate power is mine! The world as we know it is about to end!
Given that N. Gin was two phases, I kind of wish this one was too, at least in the 100% version. After the initial three hit fight, Uka Uka possesses Cortex and tries to escape through the Time Tunnel, Crash wearing Aku Aku and chasing them, with round 2 reminiscent of Crash 2's boss, but with N. Gin's less infuriating schmup gameplay instead, using the Fruit Bazooka to shoot. Either way, this is where you see Uka Uka's terrifying powers.
This might just be me totally overthinking it, but it's interesting how if you take too long to hit Cortex, Uka Uka makes a shield for him and the phase resets. And Cortex's shield only goes down when the mines he throws across the room explode. Going off this, that would mean that Cortex's mines in some way distract Uka Uka, who is already in a pitched battle with Aku Aku, from maintaining the shield on Cortex long enough for Crash to get a hit in and seems to require a bit of time to conjure a new one. Cortex undermines his own master's efforts to protect him if this is the case. Rather hilarious.
Imagine if this battle was two player. Or the entire game. The introduction of playing as Crash and his sister was interesting. Player 2 could've mashed some buttons and held the pads in certain directions for this fight.
I don't think it's cause compression, cause PS1 can reach 44.100Hz+ sample. It's how mix works, cause this is probably stream mix, not sequenced as PS1.

Ohhh so that's why he was exclaiming "Ooda Booga!" 🤯

+Marcus No, it cannot be! Not a prisoner of time again, *screams like hell*
I liked it how the masks had a fight and crash and cortex had a fight to
CRASH BANDICOOT FOR THE LAST TIME, GIVE THE CRYSTALS TO ME!
I love the sounds in the background like fast and hard ticking. really adds to the whole time travel theme

It would be epic to play with my cousin in that legendary battle, it's a pity that in crash there never existed 2 players
Am I alone who beat him easily in the first phase and in the third, but the second was hell for me?
As a kid the tornado part was overly simple, but as an adult it was such a pain lmao 😂

I think the compression of the ps1 really added something to these tracks, even if it made them worse quality. I prefer the console versions.
