Let me put it this way, in ancient times we as people had food security in form of cow. The milk and milk products the least made it possible to fill stomach. So we honor the motherly nature of cows.
I will tell you another reason why we give so much respect to cow. In Sanatan Dharma, there are 84 lakh species of life. After passing through these species, a soul gets a human form. And to attain salvation there is nothing better than a human body and according to the Puranas birth of a cow is the last birth after which the soul gets a human body. And all the gods and goddesses are present in the body of the cow, that is why probably the aura of the cow is the most powerful than all the things in this universe and touching the cow also reduces human anxiety. There are many other scientific reasons regarding cow, that is why we Sanatanis consider cow as mother

Most of the foreigner thinks Dharma means religion. But actually in Sanatana(Hinduism), Dharma means your duties towards this universe( for your family, for the society etc ).
Krishna ne kaha tha, Dharm ki baat sabhi karte hai lekin koi usko jaan nahi pata. Dharm ka matalab duty se badhkar hai, shayad Dharm ko describe karne wala shabd iss kaliyug me ho hi na.
Dharm shabd apne aap me unique hai, isko koi translate nhi kr sakta usko jaana hota hai.

Your explanation is wrong friend. I know it sounds amazing but it is wrong. There is no limit to how much power hanuman ji has. He has limitless power as much as he wants but when you quantify it like this you are limiting his strength. Because at one point he would only have this much strength only which is wrong.

My childhood was in a village of India in a farm where cows were an integral part of my mother's family. The morning routine starts very early in the break of dawn, our cow named Jamuna called my grandmother with a loud "moo", and my grandmother response to her "Yes, Jamuna I am coming, wait for 10 minutes." The cows are cleaned and feed with fresh grass that they can eat, while my grandma cleans her udders and puts a bucket to milk her with her hands. The cows know that she is giving milk and the milk is feeding our entire family and more. As a kid, my grandma would give me a modak sweet laddu and have me feed it to the cow. The cow excepted me as her own and gives more milk on that day. This would not happen with a buffalo. For a buffalo, it does not matter who the family member addition is or death in the family is or respond to any music. A cow will, respond to the music, emotions, love and affection in our family members, birth or death in the family. We had a calf which died and I remember my grandpa did not speak with anyone for 3 days and kept crying in his room. And, I have seen tears running down from eyes of cows when my grandpa died. Love is a two-way street and cow is our mother, and it is our Dharma (eternal duty) to protect our cows mother.

Evidence of the end of Kaliyug in scriptures-
The full lifespan of a human is considered to be 100 years. But not all humans are able to enjoy this full lifespan. According to karma, the lifespan of every creature is less or more. Similarly, the duration of the Yugas should also be understood according to the state of religion at that time.
According to Surya Siddhanta, the age of the four Yugas is 12000 years. According to Manusmriti also, the age of the four Yugas is twelve years of the Gods (12 divine years) i.e. 12000 years of the Earth, after which the Khanda Pralaya takes place.
Sudama Sakha of the Lord himself, taking incarnation in the form of the great man Achyutananda Das Ji, has declared in 185000 texts that the enjoyment age of Kaliyug will be only 5000 years.

We respect cows because 1.)we respect all animals because they all have conscience and 2.) because cows and diary products have played a huge role in the indian civilization.
Ancient Indian civilization was a agricultural civilization (due to the large availability of fertile lands because of the Indus river system and other river systems across India) meaning we primarily focused on agriculture and animal raising and rearing instead of hunting. Cows have thus been immensely important for the civilization as they served not only as milk providers(milk and dairy products have been a huge part of our diet since ancient times) but also as labour force required to maintain the farm lands.
Along with this, cows have also played a huge role in hindu legends, infact according to the legends "Nandi" ,one of main servents/attendees and the main mode of transport of lord Shiva, is also a cow.
Hence why hindus treat animals but especially cows with so much respect and love.

YOUR ANSWER!!! Brahma had 4 sons Satyuga, Tretayug, Dwaparyug and Kaliyug. Brahma told them all that the people entering Hell and Heaven should be equal. The first three sons didn't pay much heed to their dad. Their was a lot of devotion and good work during their three periods. Hence unequal distribution of good work(karm). The fourth son Kaliyuga was more obedient to his father and hence wanted to increase the bad work to equal the number of people who enter heaven and hell.

Cows milk is only milk accepted by all animals as a source of alternative . Weather bacteria , fungi , fishes , amphibians , reptiles , mammels birds . So cow is consider as mother ,as she can provide nutritions to all living beings . Moreover cowdung and urine contains good bacteria , which keeps diseases causing germs away . According to the latest study desi indian cows breeds has a specific aoora , after coming in contact with this aoora it relaxes and calms our mind down . She provides milk and the milk and milk products contributes a major portion of protein in vegetarians diet . Infact it's the only animal derived product consumed by most of the vegetarians in past times , even still today . Cows are very humble and calm animals and easy to pet and take care of .cowdungs after sundrying also used as source of fuel for cooking food and also used in many rituals and yadnyas . Indian society was agricultural based so lots of fodder was available on large scale , so people must have some animal which will eat this fodder & Cows are the best for this as they take what is excess and give what is required in return . All byproducts of cows are used , like cowdungs for cooking , rituals , manure , cows urine (gomutra ) as a medicine indicated in many conditions in ayurveda and cows milk and milk byproducts . So each and every part is used and so she is consider sacred than any other animal in Hindu culture .
Also if a mother dies while giving birth a child, back then they were given cow milk so living creatures that raise us with their milk is considered as our mother , that's why we called Gau mata because there were many child who were grown with the cow milk so they consider them as a mother to them .

The Kaurava brothers insulted Kulvadhu Draupadi by dragging her by her hair to the court assemble and tried to strip her naked. There are various reasons why Cows are sacred and respected in Hinduism-
1 - As most people said here, Hindus primarily prefer milk of Cows and Buffaloes. Since humankind, milk is generally associated with the nurturer i.e mother. Hence, we considered them in such high regard and don't wish to harm them.
2. Various Hindu texts have revered cows as holy and one of the gifts to humankind by the gods.
3. Cows are associated with Krishna (he grew raising cattle and caring for them as per stories) - The supreme god, hence inflicting harm to them is a big no.
4. This reason I feel my logical mind goes to - Indian subcontinent has always been a fertile land since ages and cattle like cows, buffaloes and bulls have been connected to agriculture since humankind started here. Unlike Other regions in the world where historically agriculture was not widespread, Most of Indian subcontinent has been involved in agriculture. Because of it, indigenous people have been depended on them for growing food. Hence harming them for food make no sense. Also, there has been little incentive for eating meat since food was easily available through agriculture.

C) Mahabharat (and imparting of Gita from Shri Krishna to Arjun) happened in Dwapar yug
D) Kaliyuga began about 5000 years ago with the death of Shri Krishna and about 3000 years before the birth of Jesus Christ
The stories in the puranas are exemplifications of the subtle & abstract Truth as mentioned in the Upanishads. (eg. The first shloka (verse) of Bhagavad purana is extremely abstract in its meaning and the rest of the text is filled with stories that make this first shloka relatable to ordinary people. In this text, is also mentioned the concept of yugas, Vishnu's breath, Brahma's day etc.
Yugas also represent a seeker's journey - starting from
Delusion/ignorance/weakness of mind etc - Kaliyuga
Karma (actions needed to uplift oneself (Gita way)) - Dwapara yuga
Tapas (austerities, inner cleansing) - Treta yuga
Purity (alignment with the Highest) - Satya yuga
From that perspective - years of Satya yuga seem to go by faster than that in Kaliyuga (Einstein's theory of relativity - time goes by faster when we are happy)..
This cycle continues until one attains moksha (gets out of the cycle of life (samsara)
Once one sees from the "eye" of Vedanta (Truth as mentioned in the Gita/Upanishads) - everything makes sense as its all connected. But in order to develop that vision, one has to work within - hence the various yogas & paths are needed.

Cows are important to village life in India. They were used to plow the field, and get milk the milk is processed into all kinds of products like paneer(cheese?). When a calf is born the calf can be sold for extra income. A farmer cannot live without his cows, its ability to sustain the village and family life is immense. JFYI, Lord Krishna re-told the Bhagavad Gita to Arjun on the battlefield of Kurukshetra in the Dwapar/Dvapar Yug. As for the observations made by the 4 Pandavas, Kali Yug was laying its foundation during that time which is why the 4 Pandavas could make these observations.

Hi. So the simplest answer to why Hinduism - sanathana dharma has this huge affinity towards cows is because of the antiquity of agriculture in our history. Although there is no evidence as of today which shows that agriculture existed in ancient India at the same time or probably even before mesopotamia, Indian history says that it did from a very very ancient time. And in this land, the main tool for operating agriculture was cattle. And in cattle, the one who keeps the cattle going from generation to generation is the cow (female who gives birth to the next generation). Also, the various products obtained from cows are very useful in multiple fronts of that ancient life style. Which is why, in brief, Hinduism has such great reverence towards cows. But in reality, this reverence extends to bulls, ox, buffaloes and practically all animals, even if we consume them.
