Before her there was Falkenbach (and this girl going as Hildr Valkyrie who started off doing covers of his songs), and at the same time she came on the scene so did Sylvaine and Suldusk (two female artists who also blend BM elements with pop-ish atmospheric folk metal). But the metal/rock mags didn’t try pushing them as the new trve black metal like they did with Myrkur.

There hasn't been anything completely original in 'pure' black metal since the late 90's. All bands still making black metal these days are appropriating riffs of older groups. If you want to hear stuff you've never heard before, you'll need to listen to hip hop, electronic or contemporary classical music. But I don't think you want that, I think you want to hear the same thing over and over again in the same way and when your notions of purity are challenged, you will always attack. My father is Scottish. He has lived where I am now for many years. This has softened his accent significantly. But when he talks to other Scots it gets stronger. This is common. When rapppers talk to their audience their American 'sass' gets stronger. When I'm onstage I use a more British enunciation so people can understand what I'm saying better. All common to performers and people who live internationally. Anyway. Amelie Bruun is a pretty amazing artist and composer. Someone who can appreciate Darkthrone and good shoes. That shows true depth, I think. It's important to innovate, because when you say 'it stops here', art has always stagnated. All the BM bands ripping off the 2nd wave Norwegian bands, claiming to be 'pure' or 'cult' are shit. I've heard it all before. But they get away with it, because they are men with beards and make up. Accents can fade with practice- the more proficient you are in a language and more conscious effort you put into your accent, the better it will be hidden (I am learning German and this is something that I have to work on). There hasn't been anything completely original in 'pure' black metal since the late 90's. All bands still making black metal these days are appropriating riffs of older groups. If you want to hear stuff you've never heard before, you'll need to listen to hip hop, electronic or contemporary classical music.
But I don't think you want that, I think you want to hear the same thing over and over again in the same way and when your notions of purity are challenged, you will always attack.
My father is Scottish. He has lived where I am now for many years. This has softened his accent significantly. But when he talks to other Scots it gets stronger. This is common. When rapppers talk to their audience their American 'sass' gets stronger. When I'm onstage I use a more British enunciation so people can understand what I'm saying better. All common to performers and people who live internationally.
Anyway. Amelie Bruun is a pretty amazing artist and composer. Someone who can appreciate Darkthrone and good shoes. That shows true depth, I think.
It's important to innovate, because when you say 'it stops here', art has always stagnated. All the BM bands ripping off the 2nd wave Norwegian bands, claiming to be 'pure' or 'cult' are shit. I've heard it all before. But they get away with it, because they are men with beards and make up.
As for the high fashion 'shallowness', we all saw what the anarchist trend in bm led to. It put the real people in jail and spawned generations of kids like you claiming to be political rebels because you moved to a cabin in the woods to play D&D. Genuinely curious, if somebody has multiple unrelated interests, it makes them a poser? I love metal, but I also love horseback riding and cats. What's wrong with having a multi-faceted personality? Or is it more to do with her allegedly fake accent? Accents can fade with practice- the more proficient you are in a language and more conscious effort you put into your accent, the better it will be hidden (I am learning German and this is something that I have to work on). It is possible that she's faking but I'm still curious.
