I just got home from the Chicago auto show where I was able to sit in ALL the midsize trucks(Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Ranger and frontier) The only ones I didn't sit in were the Jeep gladiator and the Honda Ridgeline, I consider those to be in different categories. The rear leg room in these GM twins are better than the Tacoma and Nissan and about the same as the Ranger, that's me sitting behind me (I'm 5'9"). After looking at these trucks all in the same day I can honestly say GM has nailed these trucks!! It is shocking how it makes the other trucks feel absolutely DATED!! Especially the Ranger 😲 Now if GM could build us a Bronco- Wrangler competitor off this platform that would be epic!! Return of the REAL Blazer and Jimmy 🙂

I was there too and I’ll also add the front seat room in the Colorado was better than all I sat in. The rear seat room is good enough and I agree felt better than the other trucks. I will say both the Z71 and TrailBoss have a very high step in, higher than my Silverado. The newest truck there was the Frontier and although it looks ok it has smaller cab and it’s very easy to bang your head getting in. GM has a winner on its hands

I thought the new Ranger was supposed to have the beefed up front end? Like in the UK for example. And also they were going to have a Ranger Raptor? There are videos of these on YT and those look great, and have much beefier engines than this 2.7 turbo. Not as much a fan of the interior on those though as this Canyon. My thoughts were since they have them in other countries they would be bringing those to america for 2023 models. I guess that isnt the case then if you saw one and it was just same old ranger.

My wife's vehicle has auto headlights and we also rarely touch the light switch; only when we want to turn them off if idling someplace we don't want the lights shining or if driving in the dark and want to alert another driver that their lights are not on (quick turn off and on our lights to signal). On my pickup, I turn them off and on a lot more. When I'm in the back hard hooking up trailers or loading, I turn headlights off as to not shine lights onto neighbors house. At the trailheads (hiking, biking, snowmobile, ATV) we also turn off the lights as to no blind others in the parking lot.
I don't know how well those screens work with gloved hands. It is often 0F to -20F here (was -2F this morning) and hands are gloved. Do the touch screens response well with heavy gloves on? I'm not taking my gloves off to change parameters, so all main controls need dedicated buttons and not access only on a screen.

I really love the new styling of both exterior and interior of the truck. The one thing that would keep me from trading in my present Colorado, and it's something I really love about mine, is the lack of a long bed option on any of the new trucks. That short bed might be great for off-roading but for people like me that rarely take their vehicles off road and use it as an every day pick up truck taking that option away will have me looking at other truck options. That was one of the big reasons why I bought the Colorado over other mid sized trucks. I hope they will add that option sometime in the future but until they do it's a no go for me.

Thanks Tim, does it need knob/buttons for the lights? Well, that depends. Does it have auto headlights that come on when sun goes down? If it does not, than it needs separate knob for the lights. Reason for this is, that screen is not guaranteed to work 100% of the time. It is electronic. What kind of life is that screen going to have? Will it still work 10-15 years down the road? A knob sure will. Something as important as lights, if they do not work, can disable a vehicle in darkness. I'm not a fan of relying on a screen for something as important as lighting.
