Got to see the Protomen live last week in Denver, and I had not lived until I was next to the speakers, this song beating in my chest, pumping my fist as the crowd chanted "WE! ARE! YOUR! HOPE! WE! KEEP! YOU! SAFE!"
One thing the original does that I wish this did was mix the crowd's chanting. They only join in during Megaman's final chorus. But in the original, you can hear them slowly, quietly rising during the whole thing, even when the robots are fully in charge. It made the rise feel so much more organic and I loved it This is still my preferred version overall, though. Talk about powerful

You have heard me. Tell this story. Many times, before you sleep. This time listen carefully. And I will tell you, once again, this time understand that what I'm telling you. Every single word is true. You need to know. There was another, who came before you. He was a hero and your brother and my son. He fought the darkness, the darkness won. And he fought bravely, and he died bravely, but he was forsaken by the ones he wished to save. And when he died, he died in vain. You need to know. You are not him. A time is coming, and I must warn you, and though it's something that you may not understand, they can't be saved by just one man. And I am sorry, cause I was wrong, and I'd take away the weight his shoulders had to bear. Because when he fell, I was the only one that cared. YOU NEED TO KNOW. YOU ARE NOT HIM. THIS FIGHT'S NOT YOURS.
He came into creating the robots with good intentions, and then his only love was killed. How can you say he caused it? After that, he dedicated his life to building machines that would save the enslaved world from Wily's robots.
+Nuclear Cherries The best I've heard it was live in Minneapolis, back in '13. I've always heard a little crack in Panther's voice for the high note, but in that performance, he *nailed* it!
I think both versions have their own strengths. I love how clean this sounds, though as some people have pointed out, I like the original's performance more.
This song alone makes me hope they remaster all of Act I and give it a real title, although I don't know if I'd want them to keep the muddy/distorded sound the original has or make it clean like they did here.
Slaanash It's technically not even called Act I, Act I was their self titled album "The Protomen". It just ended up getting called Act I for obvious reasons and some people gave it the subtitle "Sons of Fate" or "Hope Rides Alone".
Song is very relevant today. "There is an evil that holds them here, yet they won't try breaking it's back" "If you say this is how it has to be, you do no better than the fools of this burning city"
+Palindrome This one just sounds like its got more oomph, I don't know go back and listen to the original and then this and tell me this doesn't sound way better.
+Palindrome Yeah, this version sounds clearer to me, and there are some nice instrument effects. I don't really like the way... most, if not all of the Protomen first album sounds - it's so grungy and chaotic. Not my style.
the musical impact is sort of weakened, but i guess that is ok for the sake of being able to understand the lyrics. this version is actually really good for that. i can actually _hear_ what dr light and also the robot voice are saying.
I won't say this version is bad but it's vastly inferior to the original. The distortion throughout Act 1 gives its tracks a lot of power and a raw emotional feeling, without it, this song in particular sounds neutered.
Honestly, I felt the same way at first, with the rough-around the edges shitty hardcore punk approach, but when I saw the vocals as more 'megaman' like, more 'childlike', for some reason, I saw the vocals in a brighter light.
The vocals aren't amazing or anything, but they don't need to be. The point is the atmosphere of the writing is amazing, especially for people who grew up with Mega Man.

The human chorus is still in there, they just upped the volume of the robot's chorus, in my opinion. It's still there, just quieter.

Matt Keough Only to have mega man turn on humanity because they wanted Protoman to die a villain.
personal favorite.
Oh hey, Proto. How's that whole oppressing-society thing going?
Same, it's how I got introduced to them.
His is one of my favs
Nicely done. One of the best live bands I've ever seen and his voice is ridiculously good. Robot Rock Opera done right.
This is a lot smoother, but at the same time, it lacks the "end of the world" sound that the original has... Not sure which I like better. XD
true
+AniCat Gaming This sounds better as a single but the original sounds better when you listen to the album all together.
Edventures Absolutely!
+AniCat Gaming Might be a stupid question, but what's the name of the original track? Not sure how to find it from here.
Caspianm2 Same name, just make sure it's the original from the Act I album.
Brilliant. Didn't know how they could have made this song better, but they managed!

They made the first album with the intent of it sounding muddy and distorted, it was a stylistic choice. So yeah, they would keep it.
This is Rockman's theme to me now.

They did this for Capcom's MM25 album. It'd be awesome to see the whole album redone.
