@@eccoakadicco hell yeah!! this version of Freedom Run from the Wretch era is still my favourite compared to the one that ended up on Blues For The Red Sun... it’s fucking heavy and I love it. Kyuss in their late 80s era is the absolute best thing ever
@@seacaching So many records/bands were like that. I had the CD radio-promo version of Greta's demo, right before No Biting came out. The original demo of "Rocking Chair" was far superior to the album version that appeared on their second and final, This Is Greta!
I remember the first time I listened to Welcome to Sky Valley back when I was in high school and being absolutely BLOWN AWAY by it. I then told my old drummer friend Jaxon Kearley who I was in history class with who still likes the same music I do, including Kyuss and I recommended Welcome to Sky Valley for him to listen to... After we'd both listened to the album, him and I discovered Blues for the Red Sun and this demo tape - him and I have been HUGE Kyuss fans ever since (I used to also turn him on to ALL KINDS of different music - I'd spend hours writing down album and concert recommendations for him). This is back when I was a junior in high school. Him and I were trying to start a band because Jaxon was (still is, actually) a drummer. I'm a multi-instrumentalist; I play guitar, bass, didgeridoo, keyboard, and percussion - I'm not too bad of a singer either. 🤘🔥Most unfortunately, Jaxon and I haven't really talked since we graduated high school... 😕 Three moons, I miss Jaxon... 🌙🌙🌙😢 😔 ❤️ I'll ALWAYS be friends with Kyuss tho! 🤘🔥🏜
I had never heard this song before but I immediately got vibes of One Outnumbered by Prong. One of my favorite songs by them, and it was recorded 3 years after this came out. Who knows if Prong was listening to Kyuss demos at the time lol, but it's a remarkably similar riff. Both great songs!
I keep coming back just to hear this cut of freedom run. Desert/stoner demos never fail to be amazing. Thank you for the upload, and im sure I'll be back to listen for the 10000th time soon... hell yess
IT SURE BRINGS BACK ALOT OF GOOD OLD MEMORIES WHEN I USED TO ALWAYS WHATCH THEM PLAY IN HOLLYWOOD (DRAGONFLY)UNTILL TODAY IT"S STILL MY FAVORITE ROCK BAND. THANK YOU KYUSS
You know I think this cassette is playing back at a higher pitch and a little faster than what was recorded. Sounds like it's maybe C# instead of C. Still awesome!
It's supposed to be in C#; they down-tuned most of the "final versions" of the songs to C on the Wretch album. The demos are tuned higher to few cents above C or maybe C#. 🤘🔥🐲💯🎸
Well they're probably the second-most popular band in the genre (after they became known as Kyuss that is), coming only after QOTSA... which is basically the "spiritual successor" to Kyuss.
love shitty tape demos, raw as fuck
I know right
Hell yess!
The fact that there is a huge Kyuss fan living right now and they haven’t heard this yet is hurting me.
That was me until I started typing this comment.

Been a kyuss fan 20 years and this is my first time hearing this record

Seriously mean guitar from a teenage Josh Homme
This being uploaded is why You Tube, exists.
Freedom run sounds in this like gods.
Josh Homme was 17 when they recorded this shit. Pretty badass
You're very welcome, I just had to share this.

The prelude to one of the greatest bands ever
Prelude? This is one of the best albums ever.
It went downhill in small steps after this.
Stage III is one of the best songs Kyuss ever produced. Nothing sounded like that back in the day. Totally badass.
agreed
a bit of Primus in the bass line I feel there
Nothing sounds like it now
Nice shout

Wretch, demos and sons of kyuss album are some of rawest and crunchiest stuff next to bands like skin yard and early soundgarden.
I keep coming back just to hear this cut of freedom run. Desert/stoner demos never fail to be amazing. Thank you for the upload, and im sure I'll be back to listen for the 10000th time soon... hell yess
Wow, never heard this and have been a fan since 1992. Thanks bro!

Yes, or ..doing anything..
Nude Bowl '90/'91 - Tuning the amps lower and lower...and lower. First encounter and loved it ever since.
What do you mean by tune the amps lower..
@@z.s.n. I think he has an amp with tuning machines instead of potentiometers.
Mate, I think you mean guitars, not amps. 🤣
@@elmud Those exist??? 🤔
Kyuss is also nice to listen to when u just want to chill/relax. 🤘🐲
Also when u just want to jerk off so you don't hear your parents fighting.
IT SURE BRINGS BACK ALOT OF GOOD OLD MEMORIES WHEN I USED TO ALWAYS WHATCH THEM PLAY IN HOLLYWOOD (DRAGONFLY)UNTILL TODAY IT"S STILL MY FAVORITE ROCK BAND. THANK YOU KYUSS

The best SandWing (a type of desert dragon from Wings of Fire - which is a book series) band from the Sand Kingdom! 🤘🐲🏜
What is bro yapping about 💀.
But yes, they are the best desert band
Greatest shit ever when they were sons of kyuss
This is fkn amazing
Good good good good.
claim to fame, this was the raw warm up before the vocals were added it would be a couple of years after that freedom run would be mixed and mastered!

Love that stage III riff and groove. Fat as ****.
This sound is completely beautiful, i have to share this
Awesome
fucking awesome
I'm a 19-year-old from Orange County, I visited Palm Springs before I'd even HEARD OF Kyuss 🤣
sounds so much better on these headphones man
When i hear Garcia sing, it becomes pretty obvious where Ozzy and Danzig got their inspiration from.
+Koettnylle chronology off, not possible... Danzig, maybe...
Ozzie - 1970 - present. Garcia - 1987 - present.
+Ultradude V Riiight. And Hendrix influenced Lenny Kravitz LOL!!!1!
What?
Koettnylle That doesn't make any sense dumby. Hendrix probably DID influence Lenny Crapits
Tnx lot man!! i love it!! i needed
Perfect !
Too much potential
I was just like number 666. I'm not sure how to feel about that. Scary.

Raw as fuck
Pure and simple FUCKIN BAD THE FAUCKING MUTHAFUKIN BADASS, GOD I LOVE THIS!!!
Stage 3 here is exactly the studio version, but recorded here on some cheap recorded
Kyuss: raw dogg style
How aren't these guys more popular?
Well they're probably the second-most popular band in the genre (after they became known as Kyuss that is), coming only after QOTSA... which is basically the "spiritual successor" to Kyuss.
r666y and don't forget UNida, Slo Burn and John Garcias solo releasse album this year!

The ad at the end of Stage III is horrendous
Wait… In one of the songs… Did I hear “I don’t want pussy… I’m a piggy-back!”? Bruh, that’s a big comin’ of announcement, right? 🔥🔥🔥
Demo do carái!
