Just got a used 2016. (Been KILLING my GMC Sierra 3500 DRW with city driving.) If you look around, you can find a low mileage used Promaster City with previous owner installed upgrades. (I found a base model with the useless trailer hitch, a heavy duty professional ladder rack, custom Ranger Shelving, seat covers and a nice Sony with Apple Car Connect stereo and back-up camera.) $16,300 out the door. (Order your own wheel and mount your own spare tire because these come WITHOUT a spare!) When loaded with a LOT of contractor gear, total combined mileage is only around 21mpg......BUT filling the tank for under $30.00 is NICE compared to $70+ with diesel. It's nimble and quickly navigates tight spots where the Dually required a 9-point turn....The 9-speed takes some getting used to.....use the (fun) manual mode to get the best mileage around town because as other reviews note: it is ALWAYS gear hunting. It runs best in the 2200 -4000 and UP RPM range. Took some getting used to (4 banger) coming from a 700 ft lb torque (low rpm) diesel......it does not even really get to 9th gear until up around 80mph and if you hit ANY sort of incline....gear hunting she goes. Would be better served with a 6 or the other Chrysler 8-speed IMO. Basically, drive it HARDER than you think and you will get BETTER gas mileage.......crazy but it's true (with loads). Sure it's "quirky" and has some irritating flaws, but all in all, I really like my little compact Promaster City and customers appreciate it's small footprint combined with a pretty decent workhorse ability for it's size. The Ford Connect does look better, but all in all, I like this more powerful "Euro Funky" little van and suggest giving it a look if you want something more compact to run around town and the local area in.
Terrific van for what I need it for! I want one! But now it's 2022 and the manufacturer announced this year that they have discontinued producing this vehicle. I am incredibly disappointed. Want so much for them to reconsider!
Auto Academics and Chris,I just bought the tradesman version, and mine is really loud. It rides pretty rough, and tinging from the open metal. Why you think it is so different than yours? Also, you think proper insolation and some covering for a small weekend get a way van will muffle most of the noise? Other than that, I do like the versatility.Bobbyb
When we review vehicles, we try to compare them to other vehicles in the same class or category. In this case, we considered the NVH (noise/vibration/harshness) traits of comparable commercial vehicles. However, even with this in mind, we didn't notice any exceptional noises from our tester and the ride was surprisingly compliant. The types of roads where these vehicles are driven may be a cause for different experiences, too. Atlanta's roads are decently maintained for the most part, especially compared to roads in the NE snowy parts of the country where some of us have previously lived. With all that being said, we do not know if DIY insulation will improve your situation, but it may be worth a try. Hope this helps. We appreciate your comments, MrZola1234. Thanks for watching!
Guess it depends on how you truly plan on using it, macroevolve. Depending upon what type of pickup you get, it can have more payload and towing capability and possibly even a nicer interior, but the pickup will likely cost more, too. A van such as this ProMaster City Cargo will have a much easier load floor, better ceiling height, and better maneuverability in urban settings. Plus, these vans tend to get better fuel economy, too. Not sure if you need passenger space, too, but here's our review of the ProMaster City Wagon: ua-cam.com/video/PayRFn2Y34I/v-deo.html Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I have a question about weight distribution on a small converted van that might be affecting steering and tire wear. I have built a microcamper on a Promaster city van. I weight 250lbs and am most often alone. Because I need the passenger side clear for a bed and because i have an oversized starter battery, a house battery, water storage and appliances there might be a 300 to 500 lb weight disparity between sides of the van, but much of it is behind the rear wheels. I dont visually see a difference, but do often feel she pulls to the left. How big of a deal is this on a van that weights 3500 lb curb weight?
+brown buter LOL Yeah, Chris felt he needed to figure out a way to spice up this work vehicle. So he channeled his inner John Travolta. Needless to say, we docked his pay for that. We appreciate your comments!

I am debating on whether I should get a pickup with a cap, or one of these small cargo vans when I pay off my current vehicle (car)

You need an air wing on the back of that thing and some ground effects man.
LoL
That just might help, Bobster986. Thanks for watching!
I'll never understand 60/40 rear doors...
open one door , unload cargo, and head to your right (towards the houses) easily, without having to close that door or have it infront of you
I could use that as a car
Good idea. .a nite club in a dodge...perish the thought. haha
