A most beautiful couple indeed. I love Carol Lombard in that movie with Fredric March. I can't remember the name of it at the moment. That movie is a riot. Eugene Palett is in it too. She pretends she's sick, so everyone in the city feel sorry for her. She even gets a key to the city. Anyways, it's definitely a great one. And then Clark Gable in Night Nurse. He's such a bad guy in that one. Another one of my favorites.
The way they looked at each other made my heart skip a beat. So much love between them. It’s beautiful to see but sad at the same time. Carole Lombard was the love of Gable’s life and he was never the same after she died.
@@ericstenzel6835 Did you ever read the book Fireball by Robert Matzen? If not, I highly recommend it. The book is about the plane crash and it’s aftermath.
She died 80 years ago today, but has never been forgotten. She was so pretty and so very funny. You don't see funny ladies like her anymore. She was a pleasure to watch on screen. She still is. she and Clark were such a handsome pair. God Bless Them Both.
It's so sad that they only had such a short time together. They were so lovely as a couple and looked so good together. They say when she died he was so devastated. They were soulmates.
I wish we could have seen them nearing the close of their lives sitting in the rockers on their front porch! That immense love and devotion would have aged like fine wine! 🌸🌸🌸
That would take quite a lady. Years ago I read a biography on Clark Gable. I don't remember who wrote it unfortunately. In it the author said eventually Kay, agreed to talk to him. She loved him very much. But she told the author she " couldn't compete with Carole's ghost". The marriage lasted until his passing. Very special what she did.
Her love was unforgettable ❤️ to him he held on to the chance of her surviving sobbed when bad news came he was trying to get to her rough terrian they recommended to wait at Pioneer Saloon,Goodsprings Memorial inside to both of them heartbreaking story.
Clark Gable "The King" of Hollywood! They just don't have the actors/actresses like they used to back in the "good old days!" Loved Clark Gable especially in "Gone With The Wind!" What a man.....tall, dark, & handsome!!!!
Carole Lombard was my cousin. I am very proud of her and she died serving our country trying to help preserve our freedom. Though I never met or knew her, she was part of the "Greatest Generation"
Very nice lady. Seemed to be so happy together maybe the gods were jealous. I prefer not to believe the rumour that she was rushing back because she heard some actress was hitting on clark.
Press reports state he was not on the mountain. Even though he was famous, he certainly was not trained/qualified to be on a recovery/rescue crew. But he was waiting at the bottom of the mountain to escort her body home. The hike itself is arduous, long, and to say a rough hike is an understatement. With all the press around at that time and adding the treacherousness of the climb, Gable would have been ill-advised to make that journey. And he didn’t want the recovery of his wife’s body to be a circus. So reports of him being on the mountain are false. That is fact.

The music was perfect. Thank you! I wondered if anyone else identified it from the FGT soundtrack. Most of the time, I cannot stand the music people put with their videos, but this is perfect. One caveat: Lombard was about 5'1" tall. She was tiny. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and my early childhood was spent at the tail end of the horse ranching, rural era, just before the freeways and tract housing. My friend Lindsay lived one block from the Gable ranch on Petit Street. For more on Gable and Lombard's life in the Valley, read Victoria Wilson's biography of Barbara Stanwyck, "Steel True." Stanwyck built a house on Devonshire Blvd. about 6 miles from the Gable ranch in Encino. Stanwyck's house still stands, almost just as she built it.
Yes @K. Alice Pritchett, very well done too. I also thought Legrand’s musical score for the movie Gable and Lombard was hauntingly beautiful and fitting for the couple. 💕💕

Most people don't know the reason Carole rushed back home was because Gable was making a movie with a new upcoming actress and was well known for his infidelity. This is why he felt so much remorse for her death! Her brothers never forgave him for the event that killed both their Mother and Sister. A BROKEN MAN
IN A SPLIT SECOND, THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE
HER SPIRIT SLAMMED INTO THAT WALL OF GRANITE
AND WITH HER HE TOO DIED
THEY LIVED AMONG THE STARS
DANCED TO THE MUSIC OF THE AGES
DENYING THE FRAILTY OF HUMAN FLESH
UNTIL THAT DARK NEVADA NIGHT SHE WAS TAKEN FOREVER
LEAVING BEHIND A BROKEN MAN
HIS HEART NEVER WISHED TO DECEIVE HER
NEVER WISHED TO BRING A TEAR TO HER EYE
YET HE STRAYED ONCE TO OFTEN FORCING HER TO BOARD HER FATE
BOUND FOR AN ETERNAL DESERT SKY
AND IN THE END HE WAS LEFT WITH THE MEMORY OF A LOVE SO TRUE
CAUGHT FOREVER ONLY ON THE SILVER SCREEN
AS HE TOO WAS TRAPPED IN FOREVER, A BROKEN MAN
A KING LOST WITHOUT HIS QUEEN
HE WANDERS NOW, ONLY IN THE WASTELAND OF MEMORY
FOR CAROLE AND CLARK
