There ARE differences. Digimon shows had different VAs such as Josh Seth, Colleen Villard, Steven Blum, and Brian Beacock. And Pokemon is Pocket Monsters, Digimon is Digital Monsters. Also, it takes place in ACTUAL Japan.
@@riderjustis3009 the real reason it wasn't as popular was because the VAs in the west weren't even taking it seriously, idk who did it over at cartoon Network over in the east but the dubs were so much better. I'm in India so the dubs I used get on cartoon Network vs Cartoon Network America or Eu was so different. Let's take Ghost Stories for example that was a shit show but on Animax the dubs were really good

Am I the only one that preferred Digimon over Pokemon growing up?

MoovieDude i wound up liking both for awhile (mainly started because of the first movie then the first games of Red and Blue) but I liked digimon more; I got to see that all the time. pokemon came on channels I never had growing up, as I only had the standard ABC, NBC and so forth, and only caught glimpses of the show while at my grandparents. the episode i did see was the very episode with ?Sabrina? and her doll; the only episode i remember sitting through as a kid, wondering why it was so different from the games, and still remember that i preferred Ash's movie voice more.
it was a shame I initially stopped watching digimon just as Tamers started. I was at that age of deeming myself "too old" for kids shows, and dbz took my attention instead. years later, I kick myself because of what I missed from Tamers.
funny, as a kid I didn't like the little bit I saw: the lack of being in the digital world and completely different characters turned me away more. though I have this weird memory of thinking that I was watching a rerun of a season 2 episode (because that's how the episode started off, making you think that), but then it pans out just as the opening ends and shows that it's a tv show and some random kid (Takato) is watching it on the sofa, and showing his trading cards on the coffee table in front of him - and basically showing you how he's a huge fan of the franchise. And THATS how episode 1 of tamers started.
I finally learned otherwise, but I could be sworn it really started like that when I first saw it on tv myself. I could've dreamed it in hindsight (a very very realistic dream mind you) but I believed that for years until I saw it much later - and gave Tamers a legitimate chance, and fell in love with the whole season.
Leomon's death in S3 was a definitive moment in the whole franchise, as it's treated as a true death that impacted the direction of the story and the characters in a huge way for the remaining episodes. Beelzemon's redemption made me cry because how hard he tries to save Jerri after what he did to her, finally seeing the light of his sins (as he represents Light and Jerri Hope; she even wears the same colors as TK [green and yellow] and swims in Despair and Darkness the opposite force of Hope and Light)
I like the continuous story line of digimon and that the characters developed. Pokemon was pretty repetitive and you could pick up any episode out of order. Depends on your preference. I liked that digimon was set on earth in real cities and that the leads met kids from all around the world. 😊 good memories.

Ohoho. The burn. Indeed, all the leomon-like character(s) from all seasons have died.
One of my favorite moments by far is in the first series, Tai returns to the real world for a bit only Kari is home, and then he realizes that the worlds are actually crossed over and he had to return back and when she clings to him and begs him not to go as everything returns to the digimon world, and hes anchored only by her hand on his- its a really powerful moment especially seeing this as a child- we all dream at that age of going on adventures but this moment showed the reality of making an important choice.
Also the animation for that episode is still one of the best animation I've seen
i can't lie i'm in tears , Digimon had a great LORE with awesome chacaters heartbreaking moments and i finally found the missing link to the puzzle between S1 and S2

I remember crying soooo hard when the gang said their goodbyes. For a kid that was watching the show, it was a very touching and meaningful way of learning about grief and the feeling of loss. This was an absolutely amazing anime and show that thought kids of my generation, dare I say, how important is to cherish those around you and being grateful for all the little things in life regardless of their value. ⭐️

Anyone else feel as though Patamon and Wormon should have DNA digivolved instead of Wormon and Veemon? Aside from the fight they shared, both TK and Ken ended up understanding the power of darkness and went through losing their partner digimon because of it. It just made more sense to me, even as a kid.

@@gabriellelutz3195 There was a good resolution, they just weren't the main characters. But in total, those two had the most character development and hit the records in screen time, so even if they weren't officially main characters, they were champions.

Mine was a series, the Christmas one where the Digi Destined in season 2 went around the world & made new friends. I even like how the ones that Sora & Yolie met had a bit of a language barrier. It was neat to see how they worked it all out.
My favorite would have to be one episode entirely, when Piedmon uses his Clown Trick to turn the Digidestined and Andromon into silent keychains! This ended with TK and Kari at the mercy of that joker while Angemon could barely put up a fight. But then, TK's hope Digivolves Angemon into MagnaAngemon, who rescues the kids, restored the Digidestined, and trapped Piedmont behind his Gate of Destiny.
Patamon finally Digivolves is the best. At the time was mind blowing :D
It's funny thing, Patamon wants to be strong like the others, but because Takeru isn't too much of a fighter, Patamon rarely gets to evolve. Of course the real catch with him is that when he DOES evolve, well... Stand back
At least not until later in the third arc (vs. Myotismon). After that, he digivolves pretty often. Now MagnaAngemon is a different story.
Holy Angemon also deserved to be on the list.

Greymon digivolving into MetalGreymon was incredibly epic. Tai showcased tremendous courage, and proved how great of a leader he could be.
My favourite part of Digimon is not a moment but a whole episode, when Tai goes back home for a while.
TBH Digimon is better than Pokemon. If Digimon released game as much as Pokemon they could've been on top.

Fábio Rodrigues Since in order for them to get the rights, they would have to pay for it. The other countries I’m not so sure on, so they either paid for them or got them at the beginning. Though I don’t get why the U.S didn’t just do a cover of butterfly and brave heart instead of buying the rights to use the Japanese songs.....
Call me crazy, but I actually liked the music the US dub used for this series. It was cheesy, but super catchy and upbeat. I think it was fitting considering how intense the action scenes got.

In honest opinion, the first seasons of Pokemon are more tolerable, but it gets progressively worst until becoming actually worst then Digimon.
I liked some select aspects of the shows but I didn't like them as a whole.

Way more respect to you guys. I loved this show and cried during moments and some of them you even mentioned. This show made drama look like the king of the world.
Angemon and angewoman digivolution was best along with magnaangemon (piedmon arc)
I also love the digivolution of wargreymon and metalgarurumon (the use of all 4 crest; courage, friendship, light and hope)
I forgot how dark the show could get.
One of my favorites was the introduction of the Dark Masters. Despite being the most powerful villains of season 1, they were the easiest to defeat in battle for the team, but each Dark Master left deep scars in the teams friendships and hopes. Especially Puppetmon and Piedmon, who were both more sadistic than they were powerful, and they were pretty damn powerful being able to one shot Ultimate Digimon with the utmost ease.
A lot of these choices are great! Can I say I also really liked the moment when Paildramon first digivolved to Imperialdramon (dragon mode)? That moment gave me the chills seriously.
I was fan of pokemon, until i saw digimon... I fell inlove with the series!

+Tyler Tobeck Then Patamon Digivolved Into Angemon(Since He Is A Champion), Then He Digivolved Into MagnaAngemon! Even Faced Off With Devimon & Piedmon(The Last of The Dark Masters)!
And destroyed Devimon with one hit and defeated Piedmon when two Mega Level Digimon couldn't do it. Patamon was the most powerful of the original Digidestined Digimon.

Ah Wizardmon's death, the event that really got me hooked into Digimon, and managed to make me cry just as hard as when Dinobot died. Personally, I would have included Impmon's redemption, the first time Renamon digivolved into Kyubimon, and the ending of Season 3, but that's just me.

Even They Destroy All 3 of The Dark Masters, WarGreymon Destroyed MetalSeadramon & Machinedramon, And MetalGarurumon Had Already Destroyed Puppetmon(After Leomon(as SaberLeomon), Who Got Zapped By By Black Lightning By MetalEtemon, After He Saved Mim From A Fish's Blast, Then Gomamon Digivolved Into Zudomon, Then Throw It, As A Boomerang, Right In The Chest! And Then They Helped MagnaAngemon To Banished Piedmont & All Of His Army of Vilemon To The Gate Of Destiny!
it was the craziest moment I was freaked out when it happened, also I like Ladydevimon Vs. Angewomon when Tai was acting like a true leader sending Sora and TK to find Matt and bring him back, not to mention the crest of courage moment "a man must face himself before he get to face his enemies" that was a quote to remember, I love all the real world moments looking for the eighth digidestined

To me, the first moment when Agumon and Gabumon warp-digivolved to Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon was some of the most bad-ass anime moment ever. Just to see that they could digivolve even more, and to such forces made it so sick

Frontier is a lot better than folks think. For me, it's second only to Tamers as best series overall.
Seasons 3 and 4 were the ONLY good two seasons.

How the hell Angemon digivolving to HolyAngemon (MagnaAngemon) is not in this list, it should be #1. Another huuuge moment for me is when Impmon digivolves to Beelzemon in the right way after his tamers give him a toy gun and a kiss and fights with the D-reaper to save Jeri (though he fails).

Also yes, I'd say that was number one for me too.
It was one of the most memorable deaths. The english dub of him reminded me a bit of Kenshin from the Rurouni Kenshin anime. They both had soft, wise, but also fierce and somewhat cold voice performances. Perfect. I loved how ruthless and almost elemental some of the villains like Apocalymon and the D-Reaper could be. Inhuman and almost a force of nature! Unrelatable in a good way, in a way that made you afraid of them as a kid because you simply couldn't understand their nature, mysterious and dark. I loved it! The former of the two scared me as a kid. Mostly because of how Genai described him as a "strange being" rather than calling him evil outright. Just enough mystique to make him frightening and undefinable.
Again, i am astounded that kids were emotionally moved in any way by an English dub and its soundtrack.

Yeah i know. Same case with DBZ. Ppl actually love the english dub. Weird. I couldnt imagine watching it even for a second (german dubs ftw!!) just like i cant imagine watching Digimon without Braveheart playing in the background while im bawling my eyes out. Lol

Honestly, much of the dub dialogue makes me cringe, but the voice acting is (on the whole) phenomenal, and there are a few hidden gems of dialogue that almost make me completely forgive the groan inducing moments.
"Please Jeri, just let me save you!!!!"

My favorite had to have been from Digimon Frontier, when Koji and Koichi reunite in the human world at the end of the last episode. I was crying just as hard as the Digidestined were.

The moment Angemon first digivolved into Magnaangemon to saved TK and Kari. Then beat the snot out of Piedmon and turned all of the other kids and digimon back to normal is a personal favorite of mine. It should be on the list!

i’m so glad #3 is on this list, especially in the top 3. that episode made my eyes water, getting to know about wizardmon and gatomon’s friendship. it was just heartfelt. not like that cringey ass “pikachu’s goodbye” pokémon episode that tried sooo damn hard to be a tear jerker, it was far from it

I watched Digimon pretty late because I wasn't even born when it came out- but it already brings back a lot of nostalgia...
I had this good friend of mine and we always hung out together. A huge thing that made us bond further in our friendship was Digimon. I remember the days where he would print out Digimon pics and Digivices (his super strict parents didn't know he used their printer and he printed them at very early times in the morning) and we would both pretend to go head on head with the Digimon of our choice.
We had little games where we could see who could name more Digimon and we would work together to draw some... everyday we were up to something.
The simpler days in my now closed down private school, in the last school year. We were separated permanently from that point on. I moved away from America afterwards.
But it made for great fun memories, oh what I would give if I could see my old best friend again. Everytime I see something Digimon related, it fondly reminds me of the great times we had together.

One of my favourite moments is from season one. They're by some hot springs, talking about how hungry they are and Izzy says something like, "I'll take mustard and jelly beans, thanks"

But still, the feels were there when Ken's digivice was so powerful that he was keeping Agumon from digivolving. When Tai was telling him to, the scene just broke my heart.
I remember watching that goodbye as a kid. That was tough to watch, however one of the many reasons I loved and still rewatch the first season to this day.
#1 still gets me every time. I bawled when that whole scene happened. Still does. What about the rest of the seasons?

My favorite moment, by far, is in Tamers' Shadow of the Beast King. The moment when Beelzemon tries so hard to save Jeri, risking his life, and she doesn't take his hand... That breaks my heart every time but I love it so much!My second favorite moment may be right after the fight between Beelzemon and Gallantmon, when Gallantmon was about to finish him off and Jeri told him to stop. Not only did it show a LOT of her maturity in her character in recognizing that revenge wouldn't change the past, but that singular moment was what led him back on the right path.
