May these vows and this marriage be blessed. May it be sweet milk, this marriage, like wine and halvah. May this marriage offer fruit and shade like the date palm. May this marriage be full of laughter, our every day a day in paradise. May this marriage be a sign of compassion, a seal of happiness here and hereafter. May this marriage have a fair face and a good name, an omen as welcomes the moon in a clear blue sky. I am out of words to describe how spirit mingles in this marriage.
Being 77 I was a great fan of the original singers and bought their records! I have lapsed over the years but coming across this fantastic song, I’m a fan once more. I shall be listening to this time and time again. Thank you for putting this on UA-cam.
As a former barbershop singer, I can safely say, without fear of contradiction, that anyone can sing tenor, lead, or bass, depending on their range and timbre, but it takes a musician to sing baritone.
Such a beautiful rendition, the mix of the baritones and counter tenors does something magical to the harmonics that just makes everything so much more powerful. I have replayed this more than 50 times just today, I even keep telling myself this is the last one but then can't help replaying it again.
wow I sung this ages ago in my chorister days and I'd completely forgotten that this song existed. my jaw literally dropped when I heard it again. absolutely brilliant
Oh my gosh, this is literally one of my favorite piece that I've heard in the King Singer's rep. with the previous line up, so I can't wait to hear it!! It'll be like opening a Christmas gift. Edit: Indeed it was!! Beautiful as always gentlemen! Also, I LOVE the 1st Countertenor part doubling the octave at the end of the piece!
Rough translation: Rejoice! Rejoice! Christ is born of the Virgin Mary - Rejoice! The time of grace has come - what we have wished for; songs of joy let us give back faithfully God h as become man, with nature marvelling, the world has been renewed by the reigning Christ The closed gate of Ezekiel is passed through, whence the light is risen; salvation has been found Therefore, let our assembly now sing in brightness. Let it bless the Lord: salvation to our King.
A worthy contribution to the collection of Christmas carols/chants/anthems we have all come to welcome, especially in times of a pandemic when the spirit of hope is dashed in the lives of so many. As a retired priest and Latin teacher, their enunciation of the Latin was clear and matches that of all of us who were trained in both Latin and Gregorian Chant - the same being used to this day in Gregorian chant. The counter tenor work was much appreciated as well.
I've enjoyed an older version of this piece performed by The King's Singers from A Little Christmas Music for many years, but Countertenor 1 makes this one absolutely sublime! My new favourite. Bravo!
At 70 years old, it's difficult to find a new "keeper." I just found one. Plus, I think this was probably recorded during Covid, so Congratulations on keeping the flame!
I just discovered you guys last night -in this youtube 6 only format- which delayed my bedtime by 2 hours; as I caught up I discovered Jakub Orlinski in the process. O what unutterable joy ! Your heavenly sounds melt away the covid-jadedness. Sing on - this is your God-appointed time. Thank you KS and thanks be to God for your giftings. (This evokes beautiful memories for one who more than 60 years ago sang alto in the school chapel choir).
🔔💫🔔Thanks all for this cheering music exactly what's needed. Wonderful to see you Ed again, knew I would one day ,pal Jill and I were your first fans from the Sunday afternoon gatherings at Girton,BRILLIANT
Wow Fabulous having the musical score helped a lot. I love your faces. Intent focused an the lower voice soloist with an apparent smile as you sing which is very endearing.Sorry not to buy any merchandise yet.. I want everything . Yes greedy I know
Fantastic! I've known an older King's Singers' recording of this gem for a long time, and it inspired me to perform it with a few fellow singers at our Church ten or so years ago. It's fun to listen to, but also a lot of fun to perform, and it isn't too hard.
Excellent, now I am more a guy of Pop music such as Suede or The Stones Roses, but I just find these pieces of music wonderful and so uplifting. I like to play it when I need some motivation.
"Gaudete! Gaudete! Christus est natus ex Maria Virgine. Gaudete!". Bellissima scelta.
Grazie! Vi voglio tanto bene. Buon Natale.

Yikes I can't stop listening to this!! Those soloists have the most beautiful voices!!!!
This made me feel better about being a Baritone heh
?
I adore both contratenors, they sound like sopranos, like me, this made me feel proud about being a soprano
Seriously, that is one sexy voice!
This comment is a complete mood haha

This is my favorite recording of this piece. ❤️

Talent and Harmony in Spades! And BEAUTIFUL looking young men...voices of Angels...sooooo fine➕🤍‼️➕🕯😍😍😍😍😍
Reminds me a lot of a Spanish piece from the 16th century called Riu Riu Chiu.
I love riu!
Love both of them ❤️
I'm sure you have seen this, but you know, here's Riu Riu Chiu ua-cam.com/video/eJioq-VLxHE/v-deo.html
Stunningly beautiful. English culture at it's best.
Thanks for the many gifts this year if 2020- one of the best things this year has brought have been virtual concerts!!!! Merry Christmas!

Don't think this song will EVER die .

I actually haven't heard this piece before, but it is great. The arrangement definitely has some "Riu Riu Chiu" vibes
Very astute
Que harmonia das vozes! Mas o mais cativante são eles cantando sorrindo! Transmitem alegria e prazer em estar cantando 🥰
i listened to Gaudete Shreds too much and i half-expected to hear that with this video hahahaha
A favourite since the mid 70s! This is a superb version. But now I want to listen to Steeleye Span version that switched me on to it way back then.
Saw them live, three times and they sang this little ditty! Maddy Prior is a wonder!
Did you know they play the steeleye span version to the guests at Guantanamo Bay? Apparently it breaks down barriers and encourages conversations :)
I first enjoyed this from the Steeleye Span Group in the 70s. Great version here - especially with the lyrics in the background. Thanks to you All!
+1
Just listening to that now (Twelfth Night!) - so beautiful.
Me too. I've always loved the Steeleye Span version. I play it every Christmas and can still picture their video they showed on Top of the Pops.
My lovely song long time
Just listened to this and it made me smile so thank you, uplifting
Merry Christmas!
Beautiful... 🥰🥰🥰
Greetings from Brasil.
