Nice job on the woods clean up! I’ve got friends who work in the local Home Depot Tool Rental. Those “extra fees” they charge for lost, damaged or dirty etc items can jump up and bite you 😁………. But also there are some real shenanigans customers try to get away with.
I saw how people returned rented equipment to Home Depot. - Really filthy. The girl working there said they charge the $200 cleaning fee all the time. I had a bad feeling about that - so I cleaned up that chipper really good!
Yes they are pretty strict about the return cleaned requirement. But some people try unbelievable things like take new parts out of the rental and exchange them with old or worn out parts from identical machines they own. Depot workers are learning how to watch for this !
It has a 6 gallon capacity. They rent it to you full of gas. I used it two days and I filled it up twice - I can't remember how much gas I put in it to return it filled up. say 9 gallons a day? Not a huge expense I guess. Looking back - It runs at a pretty high RPM - comes under load often and it is running nonstop for ... HOURS. - so burning like 9 gallons a day shoudl not have been a surprise.
I do have a 2 minute intro - but if you look at the progress bar near the bottom of the screen I do have the video broken down in chapters so you can skip me talking and watch the chipper do its thing.
I looked that machine up. You are right! But I have to use what I can get - and to be honest - I personally wouldn't be able to keep up with a faster machine! I actually have to do some more cleanup work and may have to get this machine again.

How much gas would it use?

Nice job! What did they charge for the rental?
Boy - I can’t remember but it was like $300 and change for a whole day. It lists the prices on their website.
I came here to see the chipper work.
