I grew up on Norside in the 60's. All 3 rivers at the time where the same color dark brown. Now if you stand at the Point only the Mon is brown. Besides dif temperatures can I say also say the reason the Mon is not 'iced' is chemicals? Burgh people know this. Have you noticed in the summer how many people are swimming/skiing in the Allegheny and it's side in the Ohio compared to the Mon?
Well the one river is made of crack and crack doesn't freeze. And the other river is made of spaghetti and as you all know and can remember from high school physics spaghetti freezes faster than crack.
Ray Petlin is the best weather forcaster in Pittsburgh , without a doubt. I live in Butler County and watch him everyday
I enjoyed watching this on the news. I always wondered!
