Just now catching up on Tekking’s videos after a crazy month and actually got to watch this video on Mother’s Day 😄 I’ve also seen fans point out that Robin and Nami take after Luffy’s two mother figures; Robin being the dark-haired natural caregiver that Makino was to Luffy and Nami being the redhead with an aggressive way of caring that Dadan showed.
Ohhhhhhhkkkaayyyy. I’m going to just say, just had my 30th birthday on Friday and the last part of the video, as an adopted child. My parents that raised me are my family, and can confirm, it doesn’t matter and didn’t honestly care to figure out who my actual parents were. The people that put their time into caring and raising me will always be, without blood relations, my family. Unconditional love is love and I’m so grateful for them. I know it’s deep but wanted to be someone that related to tha part of the video…love ya Tekking!
“Raised Luffy” is a strong set of words to describe anything involving what we’ve seen of his childhood… that said Tekking is 💯 if there is anyone beyond very early childhood would be Dadan. Most of that is probably even on Luffy because he wasn’t just wild, but insanely capable and wild… she had a band of mountain bandits and couldn’t keep those kids at home. She absolutely loved and cared for them, and the same can be said of Garp and Dragon in their own “interesting”/messed up ways.
I just had the realization that both Luffy and Zoro has some relation to mountain bandits, Luffy was raised by them and Zoro is the grandson of one through his mother
I don't think Ace not wanting to be a captain anymore is the explanation for him not using Conqueror's again, Rayleigh's used it well into his 70s and he's never had other aspirations than being Roger's second in command.

I think we just might have a ghost mom giving Luffy a pat on the back to boost him in some way at some point, like the ghost of Ace from the opening "we fight together". I'd at least wish that the knowledge of his biological mother moves him in some way, no need to be full on crying or whatever but something, like if she was a victim of the government, then he cites her when dealing the final blow to Imu, like : " this is for x, for y, for my mom, for z and for the people you made suffer " or something.

The rain would be Dragon and the crocodile's fear/weakness is towards him and the repressed feelings he has. I think it doesn't really matter so much if he is the child of both, the importance would be how important Dragon apparently is to Crocodile. The green umbrella that covers the little dog in the rain could be an allegory for both of them and how he sees it. And why "mother" is the opposite of adventure is how crocodile interprets his "situation".(let's remember that until proven otherwise he is a trans man) Maybe his internal conflicts made him run away, or maybe he has Celestial Dragon blood and thought Dragon would hate him.

Oda has been very consistent with the idea that your true parent is the one who raises you, not the one whose blood you have. Sanji’s Dad is Zeff, not Judge. Nami’s mom is Bellemere. Bonney’s dad is Kuma, not whatever Celestial Dragon kidnapped Ginny. And in the same way, Luffy’s mom will always be Dadan, not whoever gave birth to him.

Watching Dadan beat the hell out of Garp while verbally tearing him down after Ace's death, knowing how strong Garp is, and Garp just silently letting her do it all to him is one of my favorite character moments for both of them. Dadan cared about those little hellions.
Dadan raised the future king of pirates, the future second captain of a yonko crew and son of the former king of pirates, and the future right hand of the most wanted man in the world, no matter what people or Oda say, Dadan is their true mother
Oda generally prioritizes found family over biological family so I feel like it's going to be something similar to HxH where the protagonist's mother isn't relevant to the plot
If Oda is going to draw a backstory of Dragon, it will be necessary to show Luffy’s mother and why she did not raise him. In almost all the backstory of OP , we see the mothers of the characters

One idea I had for Luffy's biological mothers name is "Hari". In Japanese Hari can translate into Needle, or even Glass & Crystal. However in idian religions Hari can translate into Lions, Bayhorses, Monkey. Harī is the name of the mythological "mother of monkeys" in the Sanskrit epics. TBH I would rather not know. It always feels as if the achievements of the protagonist are lessened somehow when you discover that basically all of their powers were handed down by someone else through blood. Naruto even ended up ruining whole plot arcs as time went on. Neji's opinion that you are born lucky doesn't look so stupid after we learn just how overpowered Naruto and Sasuke's lineage makes them huh? As time passed, the two formed a romantic relationship, which led to their secret marriage and the birth of Luffy. But once word somehow got out, the World Nobles consider this act a treason and they executed Dragon's wife, which would lead to him giving Luffy to Garp to keep him secretly safe from the World Nobles and would later go on to form the Revolutionary Army.
Does it really matter who's luffy mom is? because tis not like its a mystery that the series is leading too or anything, its just more of a what if, the next chapter could literally reveal luffy's mom and i think most fans would be like "oh neat" its not that big of a deal

If Oda is going to draw a backstory of Dragon, it will be necessary to show Luffy’s mother and why she did not raise him. In almost all the backstory of OP , we see the mothers of the characters

The best theory for Luffy's mom is that she was the former ruler of Amazon Lily after Shakky and before Hancock! And I will take this over any other theories no matter what!

One idea I had for Luffy's biological mothers name is "Hari".
In Japanese Hari can translate into Needle, or even Glass & Crystal.
However in idian religions Hari can translate into Lions, Bayhorses, Monkey.
Harī is the name of the mythological "mother of monkeys" in the Sanskrit epics.

TBH I would rather not know. It always feels as if the achievements of the protagonist are lessened somehow when you discover that basically all of their powers were handed down by someone else through blood. Naruto even ended up ruining whole plot arcs as time went on. Neji's opinion that you are born lucky doesn't look so stupid after we learn just how overpowered Naruto and Sasuke's lineage makes them huh? Not to mention all of the other Kekkai Genkai for that matter.
Luffy's mother is most probably human. Even if she is a celestial Dragon or kuja Luffy wouldn't have inherited any special powers from her,I am interested in how Dragon met her

Does it really matter who's luffy mom is? because tis not like its a mystery that the series is leading too or anything, its just more of a what if, the next chapter could literally reveal luffy's mom and i think most fans would be like "oh neat" its not that big of a deal
