Just found your channel and was so happy to. I just learned to crochet with The Woobles. I tried like two years ago and then again a year ago, but now I have a new neighbour/friend who crochets amigurumi so she was able to help me where I was stuck. I did like their yarn! I have since crocheted a bit with regular yarn (I made a second penguin with regular yarn after making my first one with theirs). I am a spoonie also… like a major, MAJOR spoonie. Like two failed back surgeries and an autoimmune condition, plus chronic migraines and a nerve condition, currently waiting on a spinal cord stimulator. I have cross stitched since I was about 8 years old but despite repeated and failed attempts by my mom (who crochets regular stuff like blankets and dish cloths but couldn’t help me with amigurumi) I couldn’t seem to pick up (regular) crochet. I suffer with severe pain and severe depression (not to mention severe isolation) so it’s nice to have something new and fun to focus on.
Oh my goodness. Well first off welcome fellow Spoonie and my heart goes out to you. That sounds horrible. But I’m so glad you found crochet. I love making amigurumi because it’s so cute! Sometimes making things that make you smile helps when everything else just isn’t going well. I have another Woobles video coming out soon (keep an eye out). If you still need help I do teach as well. I’ve got several playlists for beginners and amigurumi specifically. I enjoy designing patterns for beginners as well. If you ever need any additional help I’m an email away. Welcome to the yarn zebra family!
@@thespooniestitcher Thank you so much! Oddly enough this did not give me a notification until today! I am slowly making my way to other crochet projects, have an easy shawl going right now but I love Amigurumi so much I generally have at least one going at all times. I am currently making a larger (about 10”) bunny for my mom for Mother’s Day. I have more spinal nerve blocks at the hospital the day after Mother’s Day and my mom always comes to take care of me after those (which happen about every 2 months, I am married but husband works a lot) which means I have to definitely have it finished and sewed by Mother’s Day! Sewing is still my most hated part, though the Woobles I did (two penguins and a chick) all looked quite good… but I think their yarn and size make them easier to sew on than what this will encompass (plus I am reading the pattern from a book so no guiding videos)! Hopefully it will turn out okay. I will definitely check out some of your other videos. I am following a few crochet channels now and slowly exploring more of all of them!
So very adorable. I love them both. You did a great job on it. So happy that you used your yarn on second one. Love how she turned out. I loved how you did your video. I find it very helpful.
Excellent review. I definitely know what to expect from one of these kits. Now, if I could just stop myself from thinking “Woobles wobble, but they don’t fall down!”! The yarn looked like shoelaces to me! The foxes are adorable. If I try one, I think I’ll make the tail longer, especially as you had some yarn leftover
I loved this review, going through almost step by step; it made it easier to compare with my own experience with a Woobles kit. There were some interesting differences and similarities. For context, I got Fred the Dinosaur, a Beginner Plus kit, for my first ever crochet project. I have gotten through the making of the head and body piece. The magic circle was giving me fits, I put it away and knit for a few weeks, tried granny squares, and my crocheting has been kept to my beloved granny squares since. Also, I have psoriatic arthritis, and my right wrist and several knuckles in my right hand are affected. 1. I LOVE their yarn! I quite seriously told my crocheter sister quite seriously that I wish I could use their yarn for everything. I did not have the snagging issue, and I used their hook. 🤷♂️ 2. As a complete beginner, I find the videos to be incredibly helpful. I also like that there are righthand and lefthand versions of the video. 3. I did not know how much to stuff. In Fred, you stuff the head first and the body later. I understuffed the head at first, but rectified that (mostly) when stuffing the body. 4. After a while, my right hand hurt, but that’s crocheting for me. Well, knitting, too, but I can knit longer without pain or discomfort than I can crochet. Well, that’s about it. Thanks again for the review. If you don’t need your extra yarn for the Woobles calendar, maybe you could make a fox tot? Just a thought!
Love your review as someone who is not a beginner. I learned how to crochet with the Woobles beginners kits. As a beginner i preferred their yarn over a basic acrylic because it didn't split. But now that I'm used to a regular yarn I prefer that. I agree they are expensive but as a beginner the price was worth it. I did several kits and then was able to move on to other yarn and other patterns. I don't really do the Woobles anymore except for holiday ones because of the price. Wish they sold just the patterns. And I have noticed some of their hooks are smoother than others. It's just luck of the draw. I much prefer a clover hook though. I recommend the Woobles to all my friends learning how to crochet. Can't wait to go through the advent with you and see your thoughts!
Thank you for your in-depth review of this kit. Someone actually just told me about Wobbles and showed me their website. I wasn’t sure if it was something I would be able to do as a beginner and I’m glad I didn’t purchase a kit after watching your in-depth review. Guess I’ll keep practicing to get more experience before purchasing. Thank you again. 💎
I was a complete beginner (like had never picked up a crochet hook) and I got a beginner kit (the penguin) and I was able to make it with a bit of help from my crochet-savvy neighbour. I’ve now gone on to make a second beginner kit (Kiki the chick) and want to try out a beginner plus kit now!
@@forest_maiden Thank you for reaching out with this information. It does give me some confidence that I might be able to do a beginner kit. Have a great evening
I've tried to learn to crochet a couple of times but I it's just never made sense to me. I bought JoJo the bunny and I learned so much! Now the only problem is I keep want to buy more patterns! I can't wait for my Halloween kits to come! My house will be full of ghosts and pumpkins!
I got a wooble (the limited edition penguin) to try crochet. I made it in about a day. It was great. The yarn did snag some, and I even used their hook. Thank You for your review so I could compare my experience.
i just got a few of these kits and i have heard others complain about the snagging so i looked at the hooks and there is bures in the notch of the hook it was filing bits of my nail off when i slide it through to check for rough spots only one out of the four i got had a mostly smooth surface in the notch! i still love the kit and i do have my own hooks i also saw someone sand theres so it was better! oh and i also got the advent calender im watching that video of ur next to see what you think!
Thanks for the indepth review. The finished critter is adorable . All hooks are now compared to the Clover Amore in my world. The metal is some kind of witchery. I think the kits are adorable but I can't get past the price .
I got an Lion Brand Elmo Kit in my last Mary Maxim Mystery Bag, after seeing your Wobbles kit, I'm thinking maybe I should open it up and see what's inside 💖
Thank you for the review. It was very thorough and answered all of my questions. I was concerned about the yarn. It just doesn't look like a fun yarn to work with. I appreciated you trying to use the hook included but didn't expect it to be more than serviceable. Question - do you think you'll get another kit or are you going to wait until after the advent calendar before you decide going down that rabbit hole?
So glad it helped you. If there’s a good deal on Black Friday I might get another one. Perhaps one marked complete beginner or even a more complex one. I do however own the book the company made and I love that! Might do a flip through or review on it if you all are interested.

Well please remember I did not get the BEGINNER kit, so you might be just fine with a beginner kit. Find more reviews. That should help.

Well maybe look into buying the book they came out with or see if Black Friday or Cyber Monday has anything to offer.
Great review as always! Your foxes are both too cute 🥰 Maybe you could make a baby fox tot 🦊 (that does the fox trot!)
Great idea!! Thanks!

@@thespooniestitcher it had a little aluminum hook and metal darning needle, yarn, stuffing, safety eyes, but alas, no scissors, lol 💖
I bought mine on amazon but it didn't come with a prestarted yarn even though it says it on the bag. I don't know what to do😅
Take a look at this video. I bet this will help. ua-cam.com/video/Y4uyLOzP5qA/v-deo.htmlsi=IM8_P7Yko-nrhISY

No that’s their property not mine
