Considering it was up for sale for 1 Mark in 97 , congratulations must be given to those who fought to preserve it for ll to see today , long may it prosper' a visit is highly recommended, Congratulations on the video , it brings back memories, i hope to take a tour there soon , Mike ,
@TheAdagioforTiesto And ain't that game awesome? I didn't play it until like 3-4 years ago, but damn it was cool. It also got me into the series Colditz from 1972 and the movie The Great Escape. So glad I played it.
I have visited colditz 3 times , and every time it sends a shiver down my spine, The first time it was in 1997 and then it was grey and desolate, and we had teh run of the castle , including the delicing room , solitary confinement cells and so on , the museum as it is today was non existent On my folling 2 visits i was shocked at the transformation, at first , i thought they had spoilt the atmosphere by painting it cream, its not as foreboding ,
There is a documentary about the glider, they did an experiment reconstructing the glider with the same materials the original was made and flown from the castle to see if it would actually work.

Mike,
Well done on a really well presented and insightful documentary on Colditz. It brought back memories of my visit there in 2004.
This is excellent. Miles better than most docs on TV! (History Channel anyone? Yuck, no thanks)
Went there 3 years ago! Very interesting!

What happened to the glider?
There is a documentary about the glider, they did an experiment reconstructing the glider with the same materials the original was made and flown from the castle to see if it would actually work.
Great topic, crap presentation.
