Thank you so much for this video! Im in the process of knitting hats, never with decreasing though. Your video was laid out really nice and you broke it down step by step so I could understand it and do it along with you. This definitely my new go to channel for help with knitting.
Hi...I would like to see how a seed stitch is finished off on circular needles for the crown of a hat in order to follow the pattern. What a lovely tutorial. I made my first hat following your instructions on decreases. Thank you so much on explaining the process. I learned so much. I am doing an dd number of seed stitch in the round and doing 119 stitches. I tried using an even number and had to keep ripping out the stitches and doing them over. I figured out how to do stripes without jog too. Ugh. This hat is for my granddaughter who is 7 years old. It is harder to decrease because you are kniting the Pearls and and Pearlimg the knits and trying to maintain the pattern in decreases. I would like to do this on DPN's as it looks so pretty. I cannot figure out how to decrease on 119 stitches. Can you help? Thank you ever so much. 💓
I'd like the crown of my stocking caps to be flat w/o ridges. This technique is close. I'm always nervous cutting the thread at the very end of the finishing process.
I realize this video is yet another of the million or so out there which teaches 16" decreasing onto DPN's., but I thought Kristen would be a good start since she knows A LOT about knitting! Still trying to find the technique to decrease with start of hat on 16" and end on magic loop. Which is better? Divide the original stitches from the 16" needle before starting magic loop, or just "trade-off" the shorter starter needles onto the magic loop, which is fairly easy for me, except I tend to sometimes get ladders. (I can't imagine how this would work, though)? I'm not finding a lot about this technique, only the 16" onto DPN's, which will make me run from the room holding scissors and tearing out my hair. Help, please!
Great! I just find DPN's just so cumbersome and afraid to lose stitches; so when I finally mastered the magic loop; it was so much easier to decrease the tops of hats. :)

Thanks for this tutorial! I just picked up my hat two years after I started it and needed a refresher.

Kristen, you should learn the magic loop method; so much easier (once you master it) than double pointed needles.
Dawna Morrell. Hi Dawna. Thanks! ☺️ I actually know that method but this is to teach DPNs. ☺️
