Thanks for the little tour, and I’m happy to see that Giles Gilbert Scott’s power station has been saved and transformed. I haven’t been to London for 34 years and look forward to seeing new developments like this when I return in 2025. Seems like I’ll have to bring plenty of cash, though.
I don't understand why this place is so expensive. 1 beds are renting for well north of 3k pcm which is insane even for London standards. You're not near the city center, you're south of the river, and there aren't really many companies there either. If you want a nice modern area with luxury apartments, why not go to Canary Wharf which has a shorter commute into the city, more jobs, and is cheaper? What am I missing?
I agree, it is very expensive. Things that spring to mind to justify the high price may be the potential for the area to develop and the prices of flats rising, or maybe because of all the businesses there employees are pushing the prices up. Either way this is a seriously expensive area
Apple HQ is in Battersea & the American Embassy is down the road in Nine Elms. It’s well connected on the Northern Line tube which isn’t perfect but it’s a civilised, clean commute. Canary Wharf is emptying out of the financial sector which is slowly dying and the area is way too far away from Central London so is cheaper.
@@dcoughla681 Eh, at least for me, the commute to my office in the city would be a little faster from Canary Wharf via the Elizabeth line or DLR than from Battersea. And sure, some companies have moved out after Brexit but there's way more high paying jobs in Canary Wharf.
The UK news doesn't tell you how much they sell Battersea Power Plant they sell it for 1.6billion Pound to my home country Malaysia and we add 7.9 billion pound to build it owh btw you know Guthrie thats was own by UK it was rename Sime Darby by Malaysia government also involved in this project
London is so expensive. The price of these apartments is extortionate. 1.5 million for a 1 bed is beyond the means of most people from the UK. I would imagine this entire development is marketed for the foreign investor. If you factor in the crime and general anti social behaviour in Battersea or South London generally, the developer will struggle to attract the wealthy clientele. 14 years of Conservative rule has ruined the reputation of London.
It’s only extortionate because Apple has its HQ there & the American Embassy is in Nine Elms down the road. People who live there are foreign wealthy, young and mobile (transient). There is private security in this area so less anti-social behaviour. This wealth will end when the USA goes into recession & advances in tech (AI) & working from home is 100% complete. The new Labour Government has scrapped £1.5bn earmarked for AI & tech innovation in the UK. Given that Battersea, King’s Cross & Cambridge are becoming the most future prosperous areas of the country, this is a bad move.
Yeah expensive because it use entire Malaysia citizen retirement funds worth 9.5 billion pound to reconstruction it to became mall and housing in London 😂😂 mean while on the news they send aid money to Malaysia worth quarter million pound that we doesn't need it's
Man, improve your English. I know that it is colloquial talk, but you said “There is lots and lots of apartments here”. Is English your first language? I presume not….
In our dreams of course 😂 ( living there)

Ahah yes plenty of cash will be useful. It is rather cool how it has been converted. Definitely worth a visit to see it in person

Love the complex. However the Peabody housing association responsible for most of the shared ownership round there is criminal.
Amazing place just do not touch shared ownership offerings.
Great place, but too expensive for normal people.
Totally agree :)
Artficial atmosphere combined with high pricing. Ridiculous. Been there several times. Quite a contrast to traditional residential areas. traditional
I’d be surprised if that area ages well.
Why do you think that?
Apple Europe is located there
You missed the fact that Apple European HQ is above the shopping centre all the way to the top.
I didn’t know this. Very interesting and makes sense given the huge Apple Store
It is not, due to taxes (particularly corporate taxes) is much cheaper to based in Ireland, where they actually are.
@@cam70980 The European HQ is in Cork Ireland. The UK HQ is in Battersea.
I've been a few times; not a fan. I think it's emblematic of the worst traits of London
Lol and it's so weird that Malaysia decided to invest into this place. It'll definitely generate negative income for them 😂
