Thank for all the love on this video everyone! It warms my heart to see this passion project get views long after I uploaded it. I made a follow-up video going more in depth on the Mission/Career Mode, Costumes, Nitro/Retro Tracks, and so much more! ua-cam.com/video/OAlaA37ZT_0/v-deo.html
I really love the idea of being able to choose your own special item when customizing your kart, I'm surprised that I've never seen that idea before. It's simple yet incredibly smart, like something Nintendo would do.
Yeah it's brilliant. Not only is choosing special items for yourself a great idea, but it also satisfies the people wanting character-specific items without having locking them to one or two characters only.
Imagine you could also buy tracks and battle courses in the shop. Basically, you can buy any track that does not appear during the normal Grand Prix races. For example, I doubt Waluigi Pinball will return as a normal retro since it was just in the BCP, but you can still buy the track in the shop. Doing this, you can play it through VS mode, Time Trials, or even include it in your own custom grand prix cup. The only reward you would get for completing custom grand prix cups would be the coins you collect, but the fact you can still add any track you want to your own cup is a great feature. This would make it so Nintendo could potentially add every single track/battle course to the game through the shop. Each track could be worth a different amount of coins too. SNES/GBA - 50 Coins N64/DS - 100 Coins GCN/Wii/3DS - 150 Coins WiiU/NSW/Tour - 200 Coins
I have mixed feelings on this honestly. Me personally I wouldn't put a price on tracks from certain games. Since if 8 Deluxe tells us anything, it's that even the old tracks can be redesigned to be just as good as newer tracks. Also, considering how long it took for the BCP to finish and how many tracks are in every MK game put together, I'd rather them focus on bringing back the few tracks that barely received any attention and introducing new ones- quality and quantity (within reason). I'm not making a shop video yet but I'm working on a big video where I discuss what tracks I'm bringing back, new tracks, the single player campaign, and unlockables I hope will clear everything up for what I had in mind ^^
@@MegajonThe only tracks you would be buying in the shop are ones that do not appear during normal gameplay, kinda just as a bonus thing. I imagine tracks like DS Waluigi Pinball or Wii Coconut Mall would look near identical to how they looked in 8DX, they are just an extra unlock kinda like the extra Super Circuit tracks
If you liked that maybe you'll love the video I made discussing it in more detail! Thanks for watching!! ua-cam.com/video/ZrX8YUEnrms/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Megajon
This sounds fun, if overambitious. That being said, I really like the direction you took the roster, and even if we lopped off track builder and had 32-40 tracks, this would more than justify the next installment.
A fair assessment. I kept the base track count at 80 to try to match 8 Deluxe's track selection, especially when artificially doubling it with the Reverse track concept. I'm still working on a full video explanation but the new Mission/Career mode will feature all tracks at least once (totalling 96 mission.) I did this since each mission unlocks a new alt costume. Since half the courses are retro as per tradition, I tried to portion them evenly to represent all previous MK games. That way we don't do something like the Booster Course Pass and have a Wii bias. That way, fans would be satisfied with the retros regardless of which past game was their favorite. (I also wanted to represent tracks that have never/hardly been remade). Same idea with the roster. I wanted to cast a wide net over the Mario franchise and keep some fan favorites. Do I think Nintendo would do something like my video idea? I doubt it. But I think they're more than capable considering how content rich some of their other games are like Smash Ultimate.
@@PlushroomKingdomTV Hey thanks! I've seen others add crossover/other Nintendo characters to their dream rosters and concepts but I felt that it kinda doesn't make it Mario kart anymore when it's too overdone x_x
@@Megajon I strongly agree, I made a roster video myself and kept crossover characters to a HARD minimum with only Kirby pacman and R.O.B. I dont want my favourite franchise of all time to turn into something that will just result in a smash bros clone 😭🙏🏾
@@PlushroomKingdomTV YES you get it! Making a sorta smash kart would be redundant as hell since Smash is already Nintendo's big crossover game. Besides, I already kinda made an exception for Miis but if the next Mario kart game HAD to have a crossover character, Captain Falcon deserves it more than anyone else in my opinion. He's an actual racing game character and it doesn't seem like Nintendo's making new F-Zero games anytime soon. I don't really count F-Zero 99 tbh.
Thanks! I think Nintendo is more traditional when it comes to how they handle full game releases. But if their recent sports titles are anything to go by, I'm hopeful that those practices don't bleed into any of their other games. 💀
Incredible! I am doing research before releasing my own predictions for the new MK game and this presentation set the bar high for me! I’m really glad I found it, subbed!
I like the idea of apecial items being set for karts; it reminds me of Double Dash's special items for characters. I have a few problems with it though, if this were to happen.. Would kart customization still be in play? If so, would the special items be determined by a certain stat being higher than the rest or by a certain threshold? Would the character being played as skew the choice of the item at all? If not.. Would the karts have a predetermined item that isn't influenced by the character?
@@saltendo2177 Hi! Well, yes, the other slots would still be there for chassis, tires, and glider as well as the color options. That, in addition to the character you choose and special item you choose, stats would be affected differently. Not all special items are made equally and some are clearly better than others so there would be benefits and drawbacks depending on what you choose. I touched on it here in the video as well as in my latest vid, but special items are associated with the chosen character and costume of said character. For example: Luigi's default is the green variant of the fireball. But Ice Luigi would be the Ice Flower and so on. Typically, the more costumes could mean the more special items you have. However, beating all the Career Mode missions means that any character can use any special item. So Mario can use a Bowser shell if you so desire. Of course, some stats may be positively or negatively impacted. The stats being affected by the chosen item, in short, may subtly or greatly impact your overall stats. Because if they didn't, nobody would choose a fake item box as a special item when everything else would be unlocked. Similar concept from Tour but the idea is to give it more depth. Characters affect special items, not kart combos. But when the option is unlocked, you can choose any of the game's specials. Hope this answers your question. :)
Yeah but I doubt Nintendo's gonna make them recurring characters outside of their game(s). Then again, Nintendo's the most unpredictable game company so like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Seriously though, I chose the characters I chose because of association with the main cast of Mario characters and how recognizable/often they appear in Mario games. Would I be excited to see Geno appear in a Mario Kart game? Hell yeah. But that might be complicated because of Square Enix and all.
@@MegajonAnd BTW, if Geno actually belongs to Square, then he's likely playable in Mario Hoops 3-on-3, Fortune Street and Mario Sports Mix. These crossover games have Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest characters, who are also playable. Do you think if those games are better if Mallow and Geno are present?
@@LunaCookie As much as I like Geno and Mallow, Geno's hardly appeared outside of Mario RPG outside of some cameos. Mallow even less so. I tried to remove my bias as much as possible when designing the roster/my concept as a whole. So I prioritized recurring characters in mainline/spinoff Mario titles. Everyone I chose is steeped in Mario history or are heavily pushed by Nintendo themselves. And from a realistic standpoint, I doubt I would ever see the RPG characters in mainline Mario kart no less. But I did, for example replace Yoshi's Blue alt with Boshi. But that's assuming Square will play nice with legality and all. Hopefully, by the end of the month, my next video project can explain this in more detail. ^^
Definitely keep the ideas coming! If I get enough community feedback I might make a video discussing pros/cons and how well they could realistically work in this hypothetical Mario kart game. 🤔
In my original documents I had actually replaced the Blue Yoshi skin with Boshi (as unlikely as that may be, given that Super Mario RPG is a joint effort between Nintendo and Square). Shy Guys, I admit, I wasn't too sure on because I wanted my skins to reference things from other Mario/Mario adjacent games as opposed to the more original outfits seen in Tour. Trust me, I wanted to give Shy Guys ninja outfits so badly but I tried to stick by the rules I set for myself and not take costume slots away from actual references (for all characters honestly). I love the idea though! I'll probably bring it up in a future video! :D
@@Megajon your ideas were pretty great! only thing i disagree with is the subtitle career. It's not THAT unclear what the next game should be called that it needs the Tour treatment. Video was so great though bro, loved every second of it! A great selection of ideas. ESPECIALLY cosmetics!!!!
