Ogwang Clipper plays 'nanga', a traditional instrument with seven nylon strings in a wooden box. Clipper is one of the most experienced and respected nanga players in northern Uganda. He performs together with his wife Sabina Lawino.
This song is recorded at Mr. Clippers home in Kitgum town. Children from the neighbourhood gathered to watch the performance. The Acholi song title 'Wiye olal woko' can be translated into 'His head scattered'.

Its not that they never made it, the deep meaning of this song is the heir. Most of our acholi men they go abroad and always come back just them without a child/children meaning what he hard worked for he will not have his own heir

Ugandan Tribe (possibly a Luo dialect) is this? In Kenyan Luo, "Wiye Olal Woko" literally means "His/her head has disappeared outside". Possibly means "he/she has lost his/her head"

@@byttlejuice145 , I get it. I was trying to guess. What does "wiye" mean? In my language (Dholuo/DhogLuo), it means "his/her head". And what do "olal" and "woko" mean in English?
@@ericomeli2235 this is Acholi luo, and your translation was right. Wiye is head, woko is outside. "Olal" is like when water overflows from a cup, u say pii olal.
Great collection, @Scandal studios! I believe the direct translation is correct but the meaning is different. 'wiyo orweny' means ' he doesnt have an heir'. It is very hard for Africans who go to work abroad to have heirs!

Wiye olal, or "oryweny" they are meaning he has forgotten /neglected home or has failed to come back due to reasons unknown, his where about is not known though he went to acquire wealth/get a job. Thanks

You are right Kennedy. Acholi tribe which is part of Luo. They are found in Northern Uganda. There is also Acholi community in South Sudan areas of Magwi.
