    Ime in AUS, I’ve heard of cool springs but never seen it, wow what a show. Nice work. Ime part of a steam and oil engine group, we have a large working museum, but it’s mostly fixed down so we don’t get to many shows, but some of our members do, nothing near as big as yours.

    I had a crazy idea listening to all the engines running at once. A i6 or V8 or H8 hit n miss , with every cylinder nutting and missing, that would be cool, even a i4 with a 8"stroke 4" bore, cast a block from aluminum, maybe make 3 if it works out well. A medium size with 8" bore, 12" stroke , and a monster 12" bore with 18-24" stroke! With the block basically being old Briggs flat head engines that stack together, r with 4heads, 4cylinders, with a single crank, made from steel bar welded together , then machined,, and balanced, either use steel pipe for the bore, or cast a iron sleeve for the cylinder, possibly cast the aluminum around the dry sleeve, or make it a wet sleeve, with about 12 or so 1/4"x 20 , bolts around the bottom if tge bore. Holding the sleeve tight to the o-ring. The sleeve being 5/8"-3/4" thick on the ends, and copper o-ring to the head, a cross between old and new construction, the largest running at 600-800 rpm with pressurized oiling, built similar to a modern 4cylinder, with a water pump un block, and a cam gunnel similar to a pushrod engine, maybe incorporate a clutch or meshing mechanism that leaves the exhaust valve open, and controlled by a governor, operating like a cylinder deactivation system. About 10rpm from each other, so under load all cylinders can easily fire, as the load is lighter, it can drop a cylinder, and pick it up to maintain speed,
    I want to build a engine to put to work, to hopefully be efficient, possibly run on multiple fuels. And be efficient on both, a compression ignition and a gas engine, that can change it's compression ratio, go from 9:1 to 20:1 by removing a 2" plug from the head and adding a sparkplug . Use a injection pump that can be disengaged , I would like a two cylinder l capable of burning oil, waste engine oil, or vegetable oil, diesel. And produce 20 HP minimum, id like to spin 4-6, 150 amp alternators to charge batteries for my off grid home, when solar can't,

    This video showed me there are other people in this world that love rusty iron. The tour was just right on fella. I tip my hat off to you Sir. I will stop over to Coolsping later this year. I am just amazed of what volunteers can actually do !!! Can I ask where you are from and how long did the journey take you ?? Peace vf

    I own a 3 HP globe engine, horizontal open crank, made by the globe iron works in Menomonie WIS USA, (which I assume is Wisconsin?) to my knowledge there is only 5 or 6 of them here in AUS.

    Wow, what an exhibit of our old time mechanical world, not the digital world we are consumed by now. I gotta get to Coolsprings!
    Please move your camera from side to side a bit slower, I get dizzy and can hardly focus on anything before you rush off to the next thing. I know you have a lot to show but you make it hard to see what you did show. Amazing display of old time America, I love it.

    Thanks, enjoy your videos, watching I have learned a lot about hit a mess engines. In fact I went out and bought a United 4 HP 4 Mule Team engine. Wish me luck. It's all there but the gas tank. Can one be found or do I just need to build one?

    You walk way to fast past engines. Too shakey with camera 😢

    • @Cast_Iron_Curiosities
      @Cast_Iron_Curiosities  11 місяців тому

      Most of the footage walking is sped up, which makes any little movement with the camera a lot worse. My intention with the video was not to show everything in such depth that you could see everything the museum has to offer, it is to give you glimpse of what is there in hopes to get, you, the viewer, to make the trip and appreciate this all in person!

    • @boa721
      @boa721 11 місяців тому +1

      @@Cast_Iron_Curiosities unfortunately not everyone interested cannot make that trip.

    • @Cast_Iron_Curiosities
      @Cast_Iron_Curiosities  11 місяців тому

      That is understandable. I'll be doing more videos at the museum that are more in-depth in the future for those who can't make it!
      Thank you for your input!

    You need to use a yard crane instead of a piece of construction equipment to pick up & move a heavy piece of equipment.

    • @Cast_Iron_Curiosities
      @Cast_Iron_Curiosities  Рік тому

      I wouldn't necessarily consider these heavy. I have other means (large fork lift) for stuff that is actually heavy.
