Finally someone with the normal take I see nobody else ever say it: in the knock-outs, ANYTHING can happen. Belgium has enough of a good squad to knock-out ANY team. It's game day. It's 90 minutes. It's passion, manager strat and day luck. I think this decomplexed, unpressured Belgium can go further than the so-called "Golden Generation" which is just a media catch phrase. As a Belgian I personally fancy our chances more than last WC...
It was called the Golden Generation because of the changes in Belgian football infrastructure focusing on youth in the early 2000's and the changes were so effective that a crop of amazing young talents were able to emerge in the early 2010's. But Belgian young talents keep coming and they will keep coming. The era of Belgium being a poor side for 20+ years is over now and that's thanks to a massive revamp of our youth centers and formation centers.
And I'm saying this now: Maxime De Cuyper will surprise a lot of people this euros. Some of our young players will gain points in the eyes of the football planet and hopefuly in a few years people stop pretending like the Golden Generation was a freak occurence. It was simply so sudden and efficient a change that the results appeared in less than a decade. But Belgium certainly did not go back down to their levels of pre 2000's.
Anyone who keeps spreading the golden generation nonsense simply hasn't delved into why this 2010 generation of Belgian players emerged in the first place. I've been saying this for years now and people still talk about a golden generation and how Belgium is not that good anymore because the team is different yet since so many players of the so-called "golden generation" have left after Qatar Belgium has not lost a single game in 14 matches and beat Germany away and tied (and should've won) England away as well.
It's simply astonishing how surface level most analysts and pundits are around the world. Any side at this euro should fear this unbeaten Belgium team which not only has gained the experience from the past decade of being a top-dog and high-stakes games, but do not have to suffer the negative effect of being favourites.

we have but 4 fit defenders, concede very easily and faced Germany/England when they were missing half their squad or had a poor form and still struggled defensively + got away with many chances conceded. We'll bring good football as we did in 2018 and we will get knocked out in a quarter by a more complete side. Sorry, dude. ❤
@@Thelivecoach A "complete side" means nothing sometimes against a strong dark horse. We are indeed lacking in defense but writing off a squad that has an in-form Lukaku, KDB and Doku is foolish - especially when there's nothing to lose. For me Belgium facing any of the favourites is literally a 50/50.

Courtois did not not get selected cuz of injury but cuz he doesnt want to be in the squad. They chose Lukaku as captain above him so he left. Lots of people dont know rhis so I wanted do adress it. As a Belgian myself, his ego is to big, let him be gone and forgotten

I just saw this after belgium’s loss against slovakia. We may have the power, but we don’t have the trainer. Our game is passive and without chances, even when we’re losing. Tedesco only decided to sub on some more attacking players in the 82 minute which is way too late. The defence isn’t what it should be, but come on! The only thing we saw was the defenders passing the ball to eachother without even trying to find a chance. If I was martinez, I would be laughing to myself.

The hunger is bigger know and the balance is know better between big star players and upcoming talents and i think the coach is better martinez was to soft for his players
i dont think martinez was too soft, he had his way on football and little flexibility, always choosing same players even tough with strong decline and kept on with same tactics

@@BackOfTheNetTalk Well, the pressure's off. devil's advocate's would claim our golden generation was given too much pressure but i mean that full squad i just mentioned was at one point a 5 star fifa team. Telling ya, if we left Hazard at home alltogether, it would have sent a message to the ones who take their status for granted. If anything, it's all open indeed, no expectations.
