Great reaction, I listen to this song over 50 years ago and of course i will love it better than the cover, The cover i felt had a totally different meaning Charles was about his mama, and Ozzy's was about a girl, so to me, the cover didn't really go with the song and also Ozzy was more haunting and moving. some songs are okay to be covered But this one should not be touch.
before being the band they are famous for the were a kinda jazz fusion band, but it didn't work so they came up with the scary metal sound, as they noted people pay money to watch horror films, so hey why not music. Planet caravan, is another great chilled song, Laguna sunrise beautiful instrumental, as is fluff.
You nailed it meka with the 70's retro, i know Black Sabbath but cant remember that song maybe first time i have heard it, i am so use to their heavier stuff, may i suggest rain song from Led Zep studio version now that is a trip
This song was written about Ozzy's first wife Thelma ! What most people don't realize about Black Sabbath songs is Geezer Butler did the majority of writing of the songs obviously with a lot of help from Tony Iommi.

I've recommended this to a bunch of people and nobody seems to wanna do it. This is from vol. 4, my very first album. Guess that kinda dates me.
Charles Bradley's cover is excellent. Has a Otis Redding feel to it. He knocked it out of the park with that one! Did the Sabs proud! RIP Charles.

The lyrics are by Geezer. Not by Ozzys first wife. Get that nonsense out of here 😂
