What do you look for when buying a condo or renting an apartment?
My goodness, this fellow really knows his stuff. I love that he's able to articulate architectural/mechanical concepts in a manner which is accessible to everyone. Interesting, informative and, yes, entertaining. Well done!
Great video. I am perfectly happy in my old (1975) single-story, flat-foam-roofed, small-windowed condo complex with zero amenities and nothing above me but circling buzzards and the blazing Arizona sun. No weight rooms to be vandalized. No pool to maintain. No gate for anyone to crash through.
It's very interesting to see how different cities approach different issues, and possibly how codes change over time. I read somewhere that a bedroom can only be called a bedroom if there is a second means of egress (e.g., a window that is large enough and close enough to the floor to allow a quick escape). Without such windows, the room would be labelled as a den in listings. Not sure where that particular standard applied, though.
Here's something prospective condo buyers might want to reconsider considering: buying in buildings with rooftop swimming pools.
Good video. Would be helpful if you could explain what those "some problems" you found were, to give people a more specific idea of what needed to be fixed.
The urban heat island effect caused by many glass buildings also a factor, the wind tunnels created at street level. The same problems exist in England too with developers favouring profit over quality. Living in a basement can be great but it has its own pros and cons. We have a lot i. common Anthony, great video. Toronto needs to do better with affordable housing too 👍🏼
Great points! Designs are getting better over time. ie) requirements for green roofs, or canopies to reduce wind. I Could make a whole video just on that! :)
I agree to your point about avoiding the building with all glass exteriors. but then, it is just so hard to find a condo in Toronto that doesn't have all glass exteriors other than really old condos.
Really old AND some of the newer condos coming to market that are built under the new building/energy code!
Thanks for the tips! Glad you were able to get a place.
It was just a biiiiit crazy! :P
Bang on with regards to the floor to ceiling windows, they're just trouble😬
Love this! Very detailed video ;)
Could you share the 3 buildings in your final list? :)
A great video. Loved the guest appearances
Dad was upset there weren't more bloopers... 😄
aw what a great video!! very helpful and very well done.
Great video! Thanks!
How big was the unit you ended up with? In square footage…..
Thanks for the tips.
Thank you. Very informative :)
great video!! so helpful, and dangggg we got a good apartment :) the months of house was worth it
You might be biased
Great video.
nice documentary
It was super fun to shoot ;)
How much was your condo?
Back-Up Generators should be mandatory for High-Rise Buildings... but include the Water Pump??? 10 days May 2022... no water, no power = Derecho. Otherwise the older Condos... dont have the Glass Balcony... see thru... it's a Concrete Bunker (if they even have a balcony). Newer are probably a lot more Energy Efficient = Insulated. Having indoor pool is great... but brand New pool still breaks down time after time after time... it's hi-larious or just sad. Curiously even new appliances can have a high failure rate... it's just bananas. Anyhow Zero Disclosure offered about BACK-UP generators, if you're an old timer living in a Condo.
My nose🥰🥰🥰
tip #1 - dont buy in Toronto. what a hell hole of 3rd rate architecture feeding the greed of developers.
your sister is beautiful.
