I went to the TOC in the mid seventies and video recorded all TOC competitions.
Unfortunately one day I had workmen in my house and they placed a big transformer (230V to 110V) right above my Tapes. all had been wiped clear by the magnetism!
I visited Hanno many times, went skiing with him and dad and brought him to Ireland
where he flew to become Irish Champion F3A.
1979 I was Irish Team manager at the F3A world Champs in Johannesburg, South Africa,
despite the fact I never competed myself - I was a Scale man!

What a great time it was.. most everyone could fly pattern, building and designing their own plane if they wished. Now most folks cannot affor thye multi K dollar composite F3A ships. I met Hanno in 1981, his closet was full of planes, including his Curares. I saw him fly one of his Magics and Dalotel #3. One of his rooms had all four walls lined with trophies, unbelievable. And a true gentleman, along with his father Hans. I miss them. And I miss classic pattern too.

I visited him a number of times and we went twice for skiing near Klagenfurt.

I visited him and family a number of times in Klagenfurt. We went to be interviewed on Klagenfurt Radio and had a holiday skiing together. He also visited to visit Ireland and gave a demonstration of his superb flying - and was to Irish modellers in Dublin and Cork. Thanks for this upload Fred! Stumbled across it by accident. Saw the year was 1988 and was happy to see that you got some footage of Jeff Tracy from Australia. I was only 20 at the time but was friends with Bruce Grinter (shown starting the engine) who built the Sukhoi. I was lucky enough to help him build it with whatever I could do. I also did the spray work. Great to see the model again!

In my box of videos I have 2 more edited recordings from different TOC events.
I managed to get my business trips in line with TOC's until they did not continue any longer.
I am delighted you found my video by chance - I wished I know how to make people aware of my 140 plus postings...

I am flying to Orlando to see Kennedy Space Centre as every year and take a lesson and fly a AT6 in
"Warbird Flights & Air Museum" in Kissimee as I do every year.

Hi Chris! In those days I visited Hanno often and also came to Austria with my family to have one week ski Holiday with him and his Father.
But by Job forced me to be in India and after this in China. So I lost all contact with him after he married and moved do a new address.
His room was full of Trophy's and his workshop always with new projects...

I also came to Vegas 6 times for the TOC supporting John Beasley from Ireland, who later was one of the judges of the TOC.

I was fortunate to visit his home in Klagenfurt, and stay there for a couple of days. I even went flying with Hanno and Hans, 1981... such wonderful people.
But was Hanno actually been disqualified with his skybolt? I once read somewhere that he was disqualified at a TOC event with a skybolt.
That is correct, some measurnement was seen to be outside the allowed measurements.

I don't remember the model name despite having lots of personal contact in his Home Town - including a combined Ski holiday. Sorry. It was all about wing span or area, I arrived after he dad left Las Vegas.
