I can't explain how much I love this song. Written about a real man, I often think about him. It's such a tragic yet triumphant tale, melancholy laced with a very human beauty. The homeless drifter, dancing his way through the sorrows of life, perhaps bringing cheer to those who pass his way. Maybe it's because we all are Mr Bojangles, who hasn't been beaten down to nothing, mere scraps? So yeah. I love this song and Steve's version is damned fine. Thanks

Steve Earle can do nothing wrong musically right now. Although, he did write The Mountain which is a classic. However, the late, great Levon Helm took that song to a new level. Give them both a listen and tell me I'm wrong.

Beautifully done, Steve. As always, your voice conveys the emotion of the lyrics. There's a reason you've been my favorite since I first heard Copperhead Road on the radio in my Mustang so many, many years ago now. That song jumped off the radio and grabbed me from the very first time I heard it. This one does too. Many others in between.

Steve’s voice has been a little different ever since he got those implant teeth. All of the old rock and rollers that ruined their teeth now have game show host teeth. First record of his that he had them, I thought to myself “why the hell doesn’t he just take those false teeth out so he sounds like Steve?!” Didn’t know about these teeth until my father-in-law got a set. I heard the lisp and said “that’s what Steve Earle did!” I still love his work

Steve, I saw you for the fourth time last night at The Birchmere. Thanks as always for a great and moving show. I wanted to ask you about that little Martin you were playing for most of the songs. The top is dark and it makes it look like an all mahogany guitar, like an OM or maybe 000 model, but the tone had a lot of crispness and body in the bass, a little more than i would expect from an all mahogany guitar that size, but maybe that was the preamp, amp and EQ. I have an 000-15 and I think if i dug into it like your performance it would not hold up to the range you got out of that guitar. I'm a Martin junkie with four of my own, so I'm real curious, and I know you're a guitar junkie. Is that a stained Adirondack top maybe? Anyway, i wanted to ask, though you may never see this. I've been a fan since I cane across I Feel Alright when you released it. Thanks again for a great show.
