- This is a project I've been working on with Random Acts and INARA since late 2023. Given the conditions on the ground, it's been a logistical challenge, but we've now been able to distribute resources to Gazan refugees.
I spoke with Arwa Damon, founder of INARA, about the unfolding horrors in Gaza and what we can do about it. Here’s our conversation…

I was raised in the belief that children have the right to grow up in a safe place. This is the worst tragedy we have to witness in recent history. I wish we could do more.

What I always truly appreciate in speakers that are addressing the public and bringing important topics up, is their actual understanding of what they're talking about. It's so devastating to see all those guys picketing and chanting "From the river to the sea" and not being able to answer such a simple question as "What river and what sea exactly do you mean?". Some people even denied the existence of Hamas or said that it had nothing to do with the war, and that's a big problem.
This situation is especially complicated since there's a relatively small territory, huge masses of people (both civilians and terrorists), and humanitarian catastrophe at the same time as understandable actions of Israelis to protect their own lives and families.
I was genuinely glad to see and listen to someone discussing this from a non-anti-Semitic point of view. Thank you so much for all your support and help to ordinary people that are stuck in between, serving as a human shield for killers. And thank you for inspiring others to join charities!
I'm pretty sure they mean from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, which is where the Palestinians used to all live before Israel was formed after WW2.

Thank you both for having such an educational discussion on this crisis. As a Jew, it is disappointing to read others comments on here. Please actually read a history book. The Ottoman Empire was on the losing side of WW1. The empire fell and history repeats itself with winning countries fighting over the lands. The British stepped in to control the lands around and including Israel from WW1 to WW11. Finally the UN was given control of the area to determine who should govern the region. The Jews are the indigenous peoples of those lands before they were forcibly removed thousands of years ago at the beginning of our diaspora. I am an American Jew and I have the privilege to be able to be critical of both the US policies and Israel’s policies without fear of imprisonment or death from either country. But I fear harm by those who are antisemitic and full of hate in my neighborhood.
Sadly, it would appear that very few people have any knowledge of modern history, let alone of the ancient world.
Trying to stay informed of what is really going on is difficult, and I have friends and colleagues in the region, on both sides of this conflict.
I, too, am dismayed by the comments. To take their efforts toward humanitarian assistance for refugees who are now in Egypt, as evidence of taking a side in this conflict is concerning, not least, for aid workers.
As for you, stay safe, friend. I pray that there will come a day of lasting peace. 💖
I’ve been saying all along grown asp people should be able to find something besides bombs to resolve their differences. It’s always the children who suffer the most. The wrong action is putting it mildly. What’s happening in Gaza is horrendous. All of our leaders need to grow the f up. My heart is shattered for the families being destroyed by bombs today. I don’t have friends to share this with. But I can and will make my little voice heard. Thank you for sharing this with us. 🫶🏼

I recently saw a study that showed the way the American media writes about this conflict. When Israel is written about words like “children” are used but when Palestine is written about it is “people under 18”. Words like “horrific” are used when talking about the hostages taken from Israel but that word and similar words have absolutely not been used for the Palestinians. It’s so messed up and it skews how people view this conflict here in the states. Thanks, Misha!!

Ok so Misha is on the correct side of this issue, so I hope someday he talks to Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer's actor) about this issue and gets him to change his position. I loved all of this, but I do not think Israel has a "right to exist" on stolen land. I am not anti-sematic, but I am and will forever be anti-colonization. The Palestinians had stolen the land from the Israelites and slaughtered them for their land centuries ago. What do you think from the "River to The Sea" means? He did make the video in November and talked about it (essentially saying the same he is now). Although he seems to understand more regarding it is a genocide. I'm glad he's finally rallying people to help. That makes a difference in breaking the propaganda used to dehumanize Palestinians. However, i disagree on Israel having a right to exist. It does not. Israel's existence is on tge deaths of Palestinians and on taking their land and homes and using apartheid. Israel is a settler colony and that have oppressed Palestinians. They do not have a right to exist. #FreePalestine🇵🇸
I hope you mean the country of Isreal shouldn't exist, and not the Jewish people as a whole. Because getting rid of all Jewish people would also be genocide. Either way this entire situation is a mess and I wish there was some way both sides could co-exist in peace. But it doesn't look like that will ever be possible.
