    This is the Keeley Electronics Compressor Pro. The Compressor Pro raises the bar for stompbox compression by packaging a true studio-grade audio compressor/limiter circuit into a compact pedal housing. Its full-range frequency response, high headroom, and low noise allow it to work with virtually any input signal, from guitars, bass, and keys, to vocals and drums. Sonically, the Compressor Pro can go from smooth and transparent, to hard limiting and extreme squish, making it just as useful for subtle dynamic control as it is for dramatic compression effects. Its independent Threshold, Ratio, Attack, and Release controls will be familiar to anyone who has used a studio compressor, but it also features an easy-to-use auto mode that bypasses Attack and Release controls for a great, general purpose comp tone with minimal fuss. Switchable hard and soft knee compression types, a threshold indicator, and a compression meter round out the Compressor Pro's truly professional feature set, and true bypass switching keeps your unaffected tone squeaky clean. As with all Keeley Electronics products, the Compressor Pro is made by hand with premium components in Oklahoma, USA.

    Thanks so much Andy, knocked it out of the park! Demonstrated all the modes so well... Bravo!

    I have had my Compressor Pro for about 45 days now and it sounds just like video on those settings. When I let someone play my rig I let them go for a while then I turn off the compressor and they can feel the change. They always want it back on to thicken things back up. The Auto switch is cool and so is the automatic adjustments to your playing. A real magical box when utilized for recording tracks.

    This is exactly what I wanted on the original keeley compressor, it's incredible

    Just bought it and so far am impressed by the ability to achieve subtle compression to hard limiting and anything in between.
    I found it easier to use than I thought, too. I got the hang of it immediately. The manual leaflet is easy to understand and isn't long and boring at all.
    I tried increasing the Gain to use as an overdrive but 1) I already use an overdrive pedal and 2) If you turn it up too much, you obviously get noise added to the signal. So I try as best I can to keep it at unity gain.

      Nice to find another person in the same situation. It's still a secret, but looks like tonight the Ego will go up for sale, and the Keeley will be on its way to the old board.

    Is this really much better than the Keeley 4knob compressor? There's approximately a 100 dollar difference, and the design of this looks a lot more fancy. But is it really that much better than the 4knob? Should I just get a 4knob or go all the way to this one? Is there plausible differences in actual sound output?

    I just got this pedal, and I love it... EXCEPT... When my compressor kicks in, I am getting a mild but very noticeable distortion, particularly on the low end. I'm going straight into the compressor and straight to the amp with nothing in between. It's not the amp distorting, as I've actually got it set such that the amp is much louder with the comp off. I get no distortion with it off. Finally, I have a Voodoo Mondo 400mw isolated power supply driving it, so it's got plenty of power. Do I have a bad unit, or is this normal?

    • @jerrypeterson6109
      @jerrypeterson6109 2 роки тому

      Do you have your compressor before, or after your drive pedals? If you have your compressor after overdrive and distortion it will create noise and feedback.

    • @Dartheomus
      @Dartheomus 2 роки тому

      @@jerrypeterson6109 It's been a long time since my post, but yeah.. I purposely isolated the compressor. It was the only pedal in the signal path.

      +Robert Keeley is the compressor pro analog? In your opinion, do analog compressors hold up against digital, or are they like delays where each has their own merits?

      I think digital compressors can do some crazy powerful new things. It depends on who is designing and using it, to bring out the possibilities.

    I get it, you're a finger player however, with some effects, especially a compressor, the effect pedal will have a different impact on the sound when played with a pick vs fingers. It would be nice if you used a pick at least sometimes to give listeners a better idea of what it would sound like with their playing style.

    • @nozmo9181
      @nozmo9181 10 років тому

      . . . um. . . Really? Suggesting someone demoing a compressor at least do some of with a guitar pick like the vast majority of electric guitarists (i.e. people who would likely be using a compressor) is crying in your mind? Wow!

    • @CapeAlan
      @CapeAlan 10 років тому +1

      I watched these demos for months before realizing that Andy doesn't use a pick. I think that's a testament to his playing style and that he doesn't need to use one.

    • @tomfromwinchell
      @tomfromwinchell 10 років тому

      nozmo To give you a nicer reply than what MrTubeyWoobey gave you: I don't think a separate video with a pick is necessary. I was listening to this video without watching it. To my ears, Andy's attack is pretty hard with just his fingernails. To me, it sounds prrrrretty frickin' close to what a pick sounds like. Because the sound is so close, I don't feel a second video is necessary. Just use your imagination.

    The delay of the attack with the accentuated pluck sound is awful and the reason why many players will not use compression.
    If any manufacturer gets the attack proper down to the 1 micro second or nano second range, I will consider a compressor.

  • @LCRLive687
    @LCRLive687 6 років тому

    The emphasized plucking is awful. Stomp of compressors need to have alot faster attack times to eliminate that awful pluck effect
