The makeout questions are interesting. As a fan girl I'd always anticipate them and pray they would ask.. and a lot of American actors will answer these playfully, often exaggerating for comic effect, claiming the sexual tension is always there off-screen, while the fans squeal.So really they are glossed over...in a really fun way. But here Hugh Laurie attempts to answer honestly- what is it like as a professional actor having to be in such a situation- really? And all are quite taken aback.
You guys may not remember, but Hugh was in an Episode of Friends once. It's the one where Ross and Rachel were "on a break", and Ross slept with another girl. Rachel was seated next to Hugh on a flight (don't remember where to), and she starts telling her fellow passenger who's a total stranger (Hugh) about Ross cheating on her, and getting all hysterical, but the passenger (Hugh) is on Ross's side, saying, "but, you were on a break!" which of course made Rachel mental. Hugh has a very long acting career in UK, almost exclusively in comedy, probably the most famous being Blackadder, which also starred Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean). I'm in Australia and we got all those British shows.
I think Hugh is naturally reserved and self-conscious a bit, which could account for his awkwardness. I actually love it because it shows what a normal, cool guy he is and how much unlike House he is! And someone said below, that he must be banging Lisa. Well he better NOT be! He's married! LOL
If you haven'[t seen MI5/Spooks you get to see him with his natural accent and play another snarky character. Great show though he is only in a few of later episodes.
Definitely watch Fortysomething as well! He plays another doctor, quite different from House, and with his normal British voice. Also Benedict Cumberbatch is in it too :D

I've worked on sets and the kiss scenes are probably less awkward than say having to show crying, anger or doing a death scene. Depends on the actors of course. But kiss scenes on set aren't really that romantic you have a bunch of dudes standing 1-2 feet away holding equipment or eating sandwiches.
they are actors, they will make it believable. it's their job. there should be nothing awkward about it unless the director wants them to make it seem awkward.
Hugh being so uncomfortable with this question only shows there's a slight chance he DID enjoy filming this scene with Lisa. There's no chance he wasn't attracted to her, how can anyone NOT be attracted to her?
