Ive got one of these and the dirty channel sounds so shit, I wondered if a new speaker makes it any better. So thanks for the video. My conclusion, is the amp is a big square dog turd and I hope to palm it off to some other unfortunate customer asap. Cheers.
I'm really blown away by the clean/light breakup tone you have for both speakers. The creamback seems to really compliment what you've been building and seems like a great middle ground between a blue and green. Awesome video and I love what you're doing here!
Is the creamback of significant wattage, the amp is an 80 watt but granted a solid state 80 watt ? I may be in the process of buying a Boss Nextone Artist and if I am really unhappy with the stock tone I was leaning to put a 100 watt Jensen Jet Stealth neo magnet speaker in it.
The Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 12" that I installed in the video is a 75-Watt speaker (@ 16 Ohms which supposedly makes use of the most winds on the transformer). Whatever speaker you like, slap it in, it will probably sound better than stock!
At first I thought the differences were negligible. But then I realized there were subtle improvements across the spectrum that would render the sound on the better side. Boss seems to have done a good job with the original speaker, the Celestion takes it up a notch. Would it worth the cost? That’s the question.
search for 1/4 male speaker to spade connector! you can get them from any cable distributor or maker, or get one next day from Amazon. sorry for the late reply!
YES, so there are different outputs for different ohm speaker loads under the amps rear face. 16 ohm is the highest this amp handles and would utilize all of the winds on the output transformer. Having NOT tried the identical speaker models at different ohms I can only say I like the one I got, but there is discussion of the feel and tone being better/different when maxing out the transformer that way here: ztalk.proboards.com/thread/64296/4x10-cab-16-ohms
It all depends on what your using this amp for. I use it to gig. It's small, light weight, and a good pedal platform. With all the variables from guitar choice, eq settings, mic and placement, type of PA speakers, does the speaker swap make any kind of real difference in a live environment? I say no. NO ONE will know or care. As far as changing the speaker for studio work. Are many people really using a Boss Nextone in the studio? I doubt it's many people's go to amp for the studio.
That is super interesting and I learned many things. Thanks a lot. Now about the nextone do you find that the creamback speaker with its higher volume removed some of the "boxyness" I tend to encounter when playing through the stock speaker and its cabinet. I played the other day on a 2x12 eminence cabinet and it was like the sound was definitely coming out in a nicer way. More powerfull, less fizzy high end indeed. Also can you still play a low volume now? Last questions is is it worth changing the speaker in the nextone cabinet or load an external one? Is your nextone heavier now?
I hope this counts as a comparison. The patch cable video is coming soon!
Patch cable comparison is up and ready! Go watch

Thanks Jimothy! I agree about the Creamback

Good job. Lots of hard work.
Thanks, Cutie!

I think any tone improvement this big under 200 bucks is worth the cost for me. But that is for each individual to decide. I am glad I made the swap!
Hi Thanks for the comparison. I'm thinking of doing this myself. Where did you get the cable that connects the amp to Creamback speaker? Thanks.

Totally counts as a comparison
Hoping they go up in quality from here!! Thanks, Patrick!
Shawn what shoes are those? I think I own the same pair.
We like to call them green socks...
Love the video. Its good to see you again. Humbucker is now on my top ten favorite words. Im going to work that in to dinner conversation.
LOL! That's really funny xD "humbucker"
John 👀 what are you doing here. I thought I discovered this on my own. Well, good news is that the UA-cam algorithm appears to be working. 🤣
@@PatrickStewart316 are you kidding me?!? Shawn and I met at church a few years ago. Lol.

Hey Shawn, I noticed you said you got the 16 ohm version. Isn’t the Boss speaker 8 ohm and does that make a difference?

I figured it will either make no difference or be slightly "better" whatever that means
cool speaker - very informative video
Thanks! I really do like the speaker too.
Will have to ask, as I'm considering a nextone for myself. Any chance to slam some fuzz into this amp?
That is a maybe, I have a bunch of videos in the works, but haven't planned to go back to the nextone for more demos yet!
@@ShawnCothran That's okay! worth the shot haha (:
Wow makes me miss playing electric. Nicee man🤘🤘
Grab it out of the case, and give it a shreddddddd!

It would be cooler if they didn't choke, James! Thanks 😂

Not much difference between the two speakers........
Interesting take! I found the difference compelling enough to justify the cost, but all of it is SO subjective! Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes, yes to everything you asked. Less boxy, still able to play quiet, and also a bit heavier. Not a drawback in any regard, in my opinion!
