Watched this video and changed out both of my mirrors in about 60 minutes. And I’m not mechanically inclined. Very easy. Thanks so much for the video! Black handles are next!
Thanks for the video. My passenger side mirror took some road debris and has a big hole in it. Just got the replacement mirror assembly in the mail today, so now I know how to replace it. Thanks!!
Thanks! I strive to live by the philosophy 'do it right or not at all'...which can become quite tough when working on rusty vehicles, but that's a whole other story..
Man you are a life saver, just got my Fj base model today and when I drink and noticed that it doesn’t have power mirrors no cruising option My question that can I keep my factory mirror and power it with the controller .? Thanks
I can not thank you enough for this man... you are helping me a lot with your videos... I just installed the keyless entry thanks to you and I can’t be be more happy... now I can do my mirrors too lol... just a quick cuestión... do you have a video of how to remove the front panels from my dash? The one above the glove box. Once again thanks a lo man.
Good to hear man, makes it worth the time it takes to film and edit. Haven't dug into that part of the dash...yet. I'd suggest browsing through some of the factory service info posted over at Pure FJ Cruiser to see if you can find anything on it: www.purefjcruiser.com/page_2.html
I’d look at the free service manuals Pure FJ Cruiser has on their website to figure out what pin in the mirror connector gives power to the bulb then manually apply power to that pin and see if the lights work
Sold the FJ in this video and bought a different one. Can't say for sure but based on the glossy finish they appeared to have I highly doubt they faded.
Another great video. Really appreciate all the work shared. Any thoughts on using using the mirror lights as dedicated LED Spot Lights using a toggle switch?
Sounds like a cool idea! Would certainly require some retrofitting. Depending on where you live you might run into some problems legality wise. Many places don't look too fondly on white lights mounted above the level of the headlights and require them to be covered when driving on road.
Hey mate! Thanks for this awesome video, just a quick question, I got 2014 FJ in Australia which don’t have led lights on mirrors, so I saw your original one don’t have too, so for the led light on your new mirror just plug and play? Any mod for wires? Thanks!
OMG, saved this video for my next mod, Thank you bro, there is only FJ in Australia which dont have light on Mirrors and i though i couldn't change it to the light mirror ones... Thanks for your video, however I just would like to double check, my FJ does not have light on mirror, but there is switch same as yours to adjust angles of the mirrors. So do you think these black-light mirrors still works well on my FJ? Thanks for sharing :)
Is it just an illusion, or are the mirrors a bit more on the glossy side compared to the door handles? I'm going to be doing both the handles and mirrors on mine, so I'm just trying to get a clearer picture of what I'm getting into. Do you recall which seller you got the mirrors from?
What vendor on eBay did you get your switch from? I’m putting mirrors on this weekend but I waited to buy the switch because Toyota charges out the nose for them.
Not sure off hand, I just bought a used OEM switch. Generally not impressed with aftermarket electronics so I wanted to go with an OEM switch...despite installing aftermarket mirrors LOL
Its a Stanley 3/8 Rotator Ratchet. I've had it for a couple years and probably use it 1-2 times/week. Still works great and hasn't skipped a beat (although most of the time I'm wrenching I use a longer handled Craftsman ratchet for better leverage because the Stanley is a little short IMO).
i love how Toyota (i can't speak for other car manufactures, cus i've never owned anything other than Toyota's) have complete wiring harnesses hidden by cover plates........thanks Toyota.
Those mirrors are one of the two things I hate about my FJ (the other is the 10mpg in town fuel mileage). They don't throw enough light to be useful, and they're uglier than homemade soap. To make it worse, putting in new bulbs sucks and (at least in my state) if they aren't in working order at annual inspection time then you'll fail inspection.

Glad you enjoyed the video!
Fantastic budd, happy to see you continue the upgrade and show us with a lil time and sweat what we can accomplish.
Thank you
My pleasure, glad you're enjoying the vids.

I'm convinced that you can take a Toyota apart arm only with a 10mm.
Loving this channel. You are inspiring me to work on my 07 FJ!
Awesome! For me, half the fun of owning one of these things is being able to modify and customize it.
excellent video and everything you said was absolutely true and helpful. Thank you. The mirror swap out was painless.
Love your videos sir. Very detailed, great video and excellent description & enunciation. Thank you.

Thanks brother for the video saved me alot of time and money keep it up!!!

Unless your mirror has a light on the on front it probably can’t be powered

Dirona I will... thanks a lot man.
Great video, I did exactly this switch out (already had power mirrors) but my lights don’t work….any suggestions?

Long term review on the mirrors? Did the black fade or stay? Thanks for the step by step.

Yes, on the US model they are just plug and play. I imagine all FJs would be the same.
Where did buy your black side mirrors housing? How do you feel about them?
Thank you 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!

I would pull off the door panel to make sure the wiring for the power mirror and lights is already there before ordering the mirrors
I saw this was over a year ago, but do you hoped to still have the link for the mirrors?

The mirrors are a gloss finish and the handles are more of a matte finish. Can’t recall what seller the mirrors are from
Is it possible you could share the link to the mirrors and handles?
Also I liked and sub’d. Great channel man. I picked one up about a week ago and have been adjusting mine with the help of your Chanel.
Plastic pry tools are like $5 delivered on Aliexpres.com
Thanks for the tip!

what ratchet are you using at 7:07 the one with the twist handle ...I need one of those :)

Dirona nice thanks. just snagged myself a 2008 TT Edition and its restoration/mod time 😉
How do you turn on the lights on the mirrors?
They turn on automatically when you turn on the headlights or parking lights. No way to turn them on separately with factory wiring.
i love how Toyota (i can't speak for other car manufactures, cus i've never owned anything other than Toyota's) have complete wiring harnesses hidden by cover plates........thanks Toyota.
Makes it easy for us cheap guys to upgrade!
Nice, what's next?
Not totally sure yet. Thinking either window film or from bumper wing delete but free time will be a little scarce for the next few weeks so we'll see

Are these mirrors heated at all?
No not heated. I live in a cold climate and have never felt the need for heated mirrors.
Sooo it's already there you just need the mirror and a switch!!!???
Yes!
Funny how toyota has all the wiring in place for you but doesn't put the actual convenience in. Lol
Counting on all those dealerships to upsell the convenience features!
