Hey Tom! Nice to see you picked up some funk pieces. Definitely a funky groove going on in this episode :) A long time trying to get some I.P. Son Group. At some point all copies must leave Italy. Gonna check out Head. First time I saw them was after you posted this record on Instagram. Cheers. /Paul
Hell of an update brother..man that jazz meets india continues to elude me at a reasonable price..lol. That is my favorite halpern lp though I like most of his..Hendrix in dreamland!..you would like rain meditation by him..mix of carnatic indian music and psych at times.. I would think eddie gale's African sunrise would be a 45 you would want..of course private and rare. World Pacific did do a fantastic series of indian lp's all worthwhile imo. I have most of them including the California concert. Those vasant rai lp's on vanguard are beautiful..love them. Sometimes you got to treat yourself 😉. Philip Catherine is great..you need guitars which is a cheap companion lp to September man. The naura is long time fave..classic imo. If you dig that father time lp you should check out liebman's sweet hands on a&m horizon unless you have it already..😃. Love those head lp's though missing there rare first..james buttery swapped me Blackpool cool. Big want on the ipson group as you already know..lol..great score. Love both opa lp's on milestone..good shit all around. Happy to help on the reform lp definitely was a great deal 😃.. Much love chris
Hey bro, yeah Jazz Meets India was on my list for a while too, you never know I might be lucky enough to come across another copy lol. I can see why this Halpern is your favorite, I'll check out Rain Meditation and that Eddie Gale 45 too. I do have that Liebman and it's great. While I was picking up Blackpool Cool, my friend grabbed Red Dwarf at the exact same time haha, now we're both trying to grab the other ones. If I see another IP Son Group you know it's yours, too bad I don't have a connect in Italy :)
That's all I can say is what a killer update T-Man. Man oh man. Where do you find this stuff? That Jackie Mittoo sounds great. Something tells me that its going to next to impossible to find like so many of the records that you show. Believe me. I do try to find quite a few of them. You either have to camp out at used record shops or you need to have a bankroll to spend on Discogs. {smile} Frank Tusa Father Time sounds right up my fusion alley. Fusion was my door into jazz. But now I am more into avant-garde/free, Ian Carr and anything by Lee Morgan. I do have OPA's Golden Wings. When you raffle of the names of all of the jazz genres it blows my mind. We got to go digging and sometime soon~ Rob/Boston
Thanks Robb, I very much enjoyed your last video as well. Same with me, I first got into fusion and hard bop jazz but eventually led me to spiritual jazz and free jazz which is mainly what I really enjoy. Father Time might actually be one that isn't too hard to find. We definitely have to link up sometime.
Really great video. Some cool records on here. That Michael Naura is fantastic. A bunch I need to check out. Man I can't believe I didn't know that OPA record. I love Hermeto, he is one of my all time favorites and I have most of his Brazilian and US output but I had no idea about this record. Going to check it out for sure. Cheers!
You would probably enjoy the Opa records, definitely worth checking out, as is their previous band Los Shakers, although that was much more garage rock / psych rock during the 60's.
I never see Saba label records here. Symphony is so damn good. Dope Mittoo grab! I just picked up Badal Roy - Passing Dreams that also has Liebman in the lineup. Great pickups man. Peace.
Yeah the Saba joints are hard to find in the US it seems. SO happy to grab that Symphony, very close to completing my Don Cherry collection but of course the rest are all hard to find. I have that Badal Roy as well, it's a great record.
