- We Chartered a Boat in Corfu Greece and You Should Too
Come along with Josh and Rachael as we continue our Royal Caribbean Greek and Adriatic Cruise on board Enchantment of the Seas. Todays stop is in Corfu Greece, where we have one of our best days ever as we charter a boat to do some fishing, swimming, snorkeling and get our daily catch served to us right on the ship!

Interesting how the boat captain told you about the time the Vido island was a prisoners camp (that was during the Peloponnesian war in 5th century BC) but didn't say anything about what it was during much recent times - World War I. But I guess people wouldn't really enjoy fishing and swimming near the island if they knew.
During the WWI, the Serbian army, government, POWs and some of the population fleeing the invading force, went over the Albanian mountains in the dead of winter (some 360 000 people died from cold and lack of food in the mountains - 47 000 Habsburg POWs, 160 000 civilians and 77 000 soldiers, while another 77 000 soldiers were officially counted as missing). The 260 000 survivors ware transported by allied ships to Corfu. Since most of them were weak, malnourished and suffering from typhoid fever, the Allies were worried about the possibility of epidemic. So the sick and near dying were transported to Vido island which was set up as a hospital and quarantine. The island was bare rock at that time, so the people that died (over 5000 of them) were weighted with rocks and buried at sea in the waters surrounding the island. You probably could not see the mausoleum from the trees - there is another 2764 people buried in it (transferred from 27 different Greek cemeteries when it was finished in 1938).

Gosh I loved your video! It looked like such a perfect day for a couple to share that amazing experience together. My husband and I used to travel and enjoy cruising as well before kids. A month ago we become empty nesters and I so look forward to having those amazing experiences together as a couple again. Kids are great, but it’s just so different. Anyway I was excited to live vicariously through you both 😊. Thank you both.

It reminded me of my childhood in the San Juan islands in Washington state, getting up early in the mornings to go salmon fishing on our little boat and cooking that days catch for dinner. I told Troy how much i appreciate you sharing these moments with us, it takes a lot of effort to do these, I imagine, and you said you don’t profit from them. That’s really nice.

We bought our ticket for the water bus the day before we left at the machine where you board
The roast beef looked like carpaccio…
No good... We did not have the best experience with "Steak" or "Prime Rib" on the ship this time
