I often hear this song at karaoke, but I never realized how powerful the lyrics are. The version by Disturbed really resonated with me. I don't know why, but this song brought tears to my eyes.

I'm sorry, but disturbed's version of sounds of silence has to be the best version and cover version of all time. So much raw emotion through the whole song, every verse seems to go up an octave which heightens the dramatic value to the song and feels like it draws you into an emotional roller coaster ride with the sweetest of endings. Absolute raw power in his voice actually surprised me as to how soft and sweet he starts this song and gradually build up until its just sheer raw vocals that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up 😢 absolutely superb ❤❤❤

Love this! My Mum loved this song and asked me to listen to it. Sadly I didn’t like it on hearing it for the first time! Why? I don’t know? My Mum has passed away now and we played this song for her when she was dying. I now love it, it is so powerful. His voice is next level amazing.

@@meganenglish7340 no, my 88 year old mother loved this version. She told everyone she could about this version and most people really liked it. I didn’t actually like it originally but she played it to me a few times and I did start to really like it. I loved that we could play it for her when she was dying, she actually really calmed down and after hearing that song and eventually passed relatively peacefully.
It’s rare that a cover blows the original out of the water as this one has 👍🏽👏🏼

I am 65, this version went right through me, and touches more of today, than yesteryear, pretty deep.
I used to play this for my dad and when he passed away I played it at his funeral so powerful everytime I hear it it puts me right into that moment again

I've always loved this song since I first heard it way back in the '60s. This version.....is just magnificent!!!!!!
As a kid listening to this song it always touched me and was always a favorite from Simon and Garfunkel.
Disturbed put a whole other layer on the song, listening as an adult, the power of just how important the words were back then, and apply to now.
Will lose my ENTIRE mind if they play this on upcoming tour as it will be my first experience seeing them live.
Update: Saw them in Camden and with the fire Pyro and the acoustics it was EPIC. LOST my MIND. It was EVERYTHING!!!!

Just as "Fast Car", I find both the cover and the original to be good versions.
This song is still masterful. I first heard this version in a Gears of War trailer couple years ago. And for the record, the original artists Simon and Garfunkel ACTUALLY liked it
