This version rips at all your emotions to the deepest core of your soul. What a magnificent voice and performance. Brings the words of Simon and Garfunkel to life, for all generations to treasure. Thank you Disturbed.
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!! When you watch his interview regarding his trip to Israel and all the devastating tragedy he saw from the wars it brings it even more to your deepest core. I have listened to many remakes of this song but this man moves emotions a person didn’t know they had!!!!
This song saved my life and made me realize that I i may not be able to save other people from their darkness but i can help myself and help others who want to be helped. To become someone's guardian angel and beacon of hope
I often hear this song at karaoke, but I never realized how powerful the lyrics are. The version by Disturbed really resonated with me. I don't know why, but this song brought tears to my eyes.
I used to play this for my dad and when he passed away I played it at his funeral so powerful everytime I hear it it puts me right into that moment again R.I.P. Dad😢
This cover by Disturbed brings the power, life and strength to Paul Simon's powerful verse that could not be created by either he or partner Art Garfunkel (vocals or music). This song has such an incredible message it deserves to sound like this. Also, it's great to hear a self-identified "Metal" band bring such strong, clear vocals and delicious music to this old favorite. Kudos to Disturbed!!! Well done!
I'm sorry, but disturbed's version of sounds of silence has to be the best version and cover version of all time. So much raw emotion through the whole song, every verse seems to go up an octave which heightens the dramatic value to the song and feels like it draws you into an emotional roller coaster ride with the sweetest of endings. Absolute raw power in his voice actually surprised me as to how soft and sweet he starts this song and gradually build up until its just sheer raw vocals that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up 😢 absolutely superb ❤❤❤

My son lost his son (my grandson), who passed away at seventeen due to the inability to get help for autism during covid. He went to a concert by Disturbed. They had a big screen accompaniment that was showing images of suicide during this song. It really disturbed him. Now, when I hear the song, I think of my grandson 😮💨

As a kid listening to this song it always touched me and was always a favorite from Simon and Garfunkel. Disturbed put a whole other layer on the song, listening as an adult, the power of just how important the words were back then, and apply to now. Friday August 16th 2024 I found this amazing version🎉 This hits like a lions roar. "And the ppl prayed to the neon god they made" God bless all of us!!!
This version by Disturbed nailed it.......this is six times better, powerful and awesome than Simon and Garfinkel's original.... this version can bring tears to your eyes

All credit to Simon and Garfunkel for their amazing work, but this song deserves to be sung and heard exactly like this, powerful and emotional. Not many songs can bring you to your knees. This is one of them.
As a man w depression silence helps me to cope then comes the laughter to make others happy even though I'm miserable it's a gift not a burden to me if I can make others enjoy life I've done my part in life to help and do my part
There's something about this song that just gets me.....i can't really pick it out but im constantly drawn towards it. The build up to the chorus is so captivating.
I think it conveys the warning that's made to turn away from their idols and back towards God before it's too late. Which isn't really captured in the original.
One of the few times in my life that a cover is so much better than the original that it completely decimates the original . This rendition is powerful.
Here is interpretation of the song👇 Verse 1: "Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again." The singer feels lonely and turns inward, seeking comfort in the familiar silence of his thoughts. "Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping." A powerful idea or realization came to him quietly, like a dream. "And the vision that was planted in my brain, Still remains within the sound of silence." This idea has stayed with him, living in the stillness of his mind. Verse 2: "In restless dreams I walked alone, Narrow streets of cobblestone." The singer describes feeling isolated, wandering alone through a quiet, empty city. "’Neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp." He feels cold and lonely, trying to shield himself from the harsh world. "When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light, That split the night and touched the sound of silence." A bright neon light breaks through the darkness, representing a sudden realization or truth. Verse 3: "And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more." He sees a crowd of people, but instead of feeling connected, he feels detached. "People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening." The people communicate, but it’s shallow and lacks real understanding. "People writing songs that voices never share, And no one dared disturb the sound of silence." People express themselves, but their true feelings and ideas remain hidden and unspoken. Verse 4: "Fools," said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows." The singer criticizes people for ignoring meaningful communication. He warns that silence, if left unchecked, can grow and harm relationships. "Hear my words that I might teach you, Take my arms that I might reach you." He pleads with others to listen to his message and connect with him, but they remain distant. "But my words, like silent raindrops fell, And echoed in the wells of silence." His words go unheard, disappearing into the vast emptiness of silence. Verse 5: "And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made." The people worship materialism or technology ("the neon god") instead of valuing true connection and meaning. "And the sign flashed out its warning, In the words that it was forming." The bright lights (society's distractions) give a warning, but no one heeds it. "And the sign said, 'The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls.' And whispered in the sound of silence." Truths and wisdom are hidden in plain sight (graffiti, neglected places), but people ignore them, lost in their own distractions. Summary: The song is a powerful reflection on human isolation in a world full of distractions. It encourages deep connections and listening to life's truths that are often drowned out by noise and superficiality.

The bright lights (society's distractions) give a warning, but no one heeds it.
