I've read all 7 Banished Lands books, Shadow of the Gods, and I'm about 50% of the way through Hunger of the Gods this year. I didn't come into 2024 expecting it to be a Year of Gwynne for me, but dan his books have hit perfectly for me
I can’t imagine the grief. Take the perspective that he went back to a book that had a large core be about saving your children, Orka for Brecca and Bjarn as well.
being a new reader of fantasy, my experience has been that even though your books have been recommended by various booktubers, the book designs have definitely cemented the recommendations in my mind, and are unlikely to be forgotten when it comes time to starting a new series.
Haven’t read his books yet, but they’re high on the list! Also his appearance and voice both remind me uncannily of Terry Pratchett - though it seems he prefers a Viking helmet to a black fedora.
omg i was waiting for this to drop on the main channel for so long. i didn't realize this was on the second channel LOL, my b my b. can't wait to watch this!
You asked the question I was seeking Cosy fantasy for after the epic Bloodsworn Saga. Would have loved to read about the laid back life of Orka in her farm with all the Bloodsworn brothers and sisters.
Hi both, I’m in the middle of fury of the gods and when I’m finished I’m going on the winter king trilogy. I’m glad John rates the series before I read it. Happy with that. Love the bloodsworn trilogy. Thanks for getting me back in to fantasy books and reading.
Alright, I will keep that in mind for my (hopefully) future career as a writer. I am finishing my first book soon, and have plans for others, including a medieval Romanian inspired fantasy novel, but I like this idea.
@@wyattleske7487 Awesome! Are you published yet, or will that be your first book as well? Would you try going the traditionally or self published route?
Hi Daniel. 3 years ago you did a review about the first book and said “f* I will never write this good as Gwynne” how do you feel today 3 years of writing?
Do you struggle with Impostor Syndrome? I ask because you interview some of the giants in the book world, and at such a young age. If so, how do you work through and with this? Let me also say, you are wonderful at what you do! There is no reason to feel this way, you have a skill with this, and discipline, and it shows. You deserve this success. But the mind be crazy at times. lol
These are the interviews we need! No disrespect intended here, it’s just feedback, but I feel your main channel is lacking lately. The reviews, interviews, deep dives, etc… haven’t been the same. Petrick Leo is doing this and more and it seems to resonate en masse because it feels authentic and real. The “less production” route helps this too. Great job to you both with this video.
How do you create when soneone us elevted president you dont like who will have absolutjy no impact on your life in any way just like the ladt 5 presidents...boo hoo.
Do u know what an exclusive interview is? It doesn’t mean this is the only John Gwynne interview but this unique interview is only available on this channel. Nice try though
Now this is more like it. On Daniel's main channel, First Law author Joe Abercrombie & Shannara creator Terry Brooks were both recently interviewed but not by Daniel, instead it was some other guy who did the interviews which was a bit underwhelming. I watch the channel to see Daniel talking with these notable Fantasy authors, not some doppelganger. I enjoy watching the camaraderie & discussions between Daniel & his guests.
you're talking about Jackson Dickert and his comedic interview show 'Between Two Perns.' Jackson is a frequent guest host on Fantasy news, and has his own channel where he originated his interview show idea. Daniel puts half the episodes on his channel because he believes in Jackson and the show and wants more people to see it. It's not like Jackson just stole Daniel's channel and uploaded interviews to it. Describing him as a doppelganger is a bit much.

Orca Skullsplitter might be one of the most bad ass characters of all time
I can’t imagine the grief. Take the perspective that he went back to a book that had a large core be about saving your children, Orka for Brecca and Bjarn as well.
Never read johns books, but I thank him for sharing and continuing on after experiencing what he and his family went through.
I own a seax because of this guy!!!!
Editing on the intro is super clean
thank you!
thank you
Rest In Peace Harriet ❤
Loved these books!!!! So sorry for your loss :(
What a legend,John Gwynne !!!! Truth and courage !!!
I’ve been so fricking hyped for this interview and this book, thank you for feeding us Daniel
Thanks for the interview. Hope all goes well to John and this channel. Would be great if we can have more of these.
John Gwynne is genuinely one of my favourite humans. Great man with a great family and the loss of his daughter is heart breaking

Lovely interview

I am so sorry for your loss sir, I didn't know you lost your daughter.
Great interview Daniel!

Wow what an awesome dude, I own Malice but haven't had the time to read it yet. I'm going to jump into his worlds very soon.
love the new intro!
I can’t confirm I read the first two of the Bloodsworn and proceeded to go back and reed the entire Faithful and the Fallen series!
Great last question, I was just thinking about what Gwynne series I should start with.
Read all 3 of the Bloodsworn books this year and they were some of my favorite this year! So good. In my top 10 series.
Even in Australia, got a copy of Fury. Happy!

Love the bloodsworn trilogy. Thanks for getting me back in to fantasy books and reading.
That series has to be your cup of tea, but to this day, it's still the most immersive historical fiction trilogy I've ever read.
Always love to see John. I honestly wouldn't have started writing fantasy if I hadn't read The Faithful and The Fallen when I was a teen.
Ooooooo that intro!!
Awesome interview as usual!
Was surprised Daniel didn’t know that The Last Kingdom series was based on Cornwell’s books.
I want a Native Amerian influenced fantasy

Hell yea The Gwynne is back they call him the drink
I was a little late seeing this, but in my defence, all the links on your main channel point to last year's discussion channel.
I can’t listen to John talk about Harriet and not have a massive lump in my throat and immediately go and hug my kids
I’m fan of Bernard cornwell’s last kingdom books are one my favorite series for Anglo Saxon, shield wall warfare, and characters
♥

Daniel! Please read david gemmel. He needs love on youtube, it's criminal how untalked about he is

Not sure if you know what "Exclusive" means. There are like 5+ Interviews in the last weeks.
I would read the shit out of "The Nap of the Gods"
480p? What year is it!?

Right!? Typical booktuber stuff.
Really need to look up "exclusive" in a dictionary. 😆

I'm going to have to give him a second chance. I found the lack of stakes and the characters uninteresting.

The interviews with Jackson were supposed to be comedic and I thought they were really good.
