Hey guys! So we had very little time today with this car to shoot this video and Mini made some more announcements after filming. The 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder engine under the hood actually makes 295 lb-ft of torque, which is less than the old 2024 model, but the 312 HP is an 11 HP jump over the old version! Also, the pricing for this John Cooper Works was announced to begin at $47,895 including destination. Overall, we're big fans of the upgrades Mini has made and we also got a chance to see the redesigned 2025 Cooper behind closed doors. You'll be seeing the new version for the US market unveiled on Feb 7th, 2024! Stay tuned for lots of new product from Mini very soon!

I still personally think they had completely ruined the design of the countryman.
The reason it sold better before was because it was initially intended to be the larger MINI in dimensions and design.
And having owned a countryman myself, 2017 to 2023 design was a smash hit. And also was their most in sales!
To change the design to this, it no longer has that MINI vibe to it.

You haven't been paying attention the new Aceman size and look is taking the place of the previous countrymen, this new country man is now a bigger segment altogether and more mature. If you want many to grow you need to understand it needs a broader audience. And this new more mature countrymen brings in that.

The HUD requires a film inside the glass to illuminate, and cars that project onto the windshields have that film in the entire windshield. OK for luxury models, but adds thousands to the cost of the windscreen. Insurance companies hate them, and many will no longer allow glass guarantees for vehicles with HUD's that require windshield replacements at high cost.

Mazda has integrated HUD as standard in the Mazda 3 and all new models released after this E generation, and they are way cheaper than this Mini. No reason for BMW to cheap out on this front.

The heads up display issue in the Countryman is related to the angle of the glass. The sister BMW X1 and X2 have the display is the windshield - the difference being the angle of aforementioned glass.

I’ve always kind of liked Minis because they were quirky and kind of unique. But I think as the company has focused more and more on larger models they’ve also edged into…well, just kind of weird. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as its cool to be different. But I have to wonder if it’s impacted sales numbers.

I looove it and waaaant it 😍 I’m so THRILLED that Mini has finally added common sense safety features to their vehicles as well! It still blows my mind that up to this point no Mini has ever come offered with blind spot monitoring. I know they’re “Mini” but the technology is also used for door exiting assist (prevents you from opening the door if a car or bike is approaching) which I would imagine would be helpful in European cities 😂
Anywho- I’m loving the updates and I’m excited to see what Mini has in store for us next!

Wheel design...mehhh. So far only the quad exhaust tips are attractive. BMW/Mini should have a gauge cluster IN FRONT (behind the steering wheel) because if and when that display fails, you loose a lot of info and functionality (Like Tesla) and your left w/whatever HUD info is (assuming that is an option to tick and pay for). Points for making the display entertaining and interactive - Mini is literally a fashion statement.

I think the regular Cooper needs to keep some of the traditional quirks, like the rounded headlights and such- but for the Countryman and I'm sure the Clubman will adapt this too, it was time for a new direction to make it more competitive and modern. I think they did a great job. I absolutely love Mini's. Depending how the new Cooper JCW ends up looking, might be time to trade up again.

Just like Porsche with the Cayenne and BMW's X5 - this will serve to help bolster enough sales to support things like saving the manuals, sport cars, sedans and coupes - while this may not be OUR cup of tea the survival of things we do really love are typically funded by the sales of SUVs and "boring" cars. And before we pass final judgement on this model I'd suggest getting behind the wheel of one when they show up at dealers. All of that said the tail lights on the '25 2 door hardtop are hideous though some amount of JCW-styling might help make them at least help...

The Jcw is 10k more than the base Countryman. Idk if its worth the extra $$. At 50k, you could get the x1 m35i for a little more.

I know, right? I bought two for safe keeping both 2023 one a S the other a JCW. I asked my dealer about it almost a year ago and he said they didn't sell very well - even the 4 door hardtop sold more - thought that it was nuts - been collecting them ever since ;-)

@@Scotty_in_Ohio i seriously thought about importing a final year US vehicle to Canada and just holding onto it.
I’d consider a BMW 3 series touring but they don’t sell them in North America anymore. What other options are there? Audi A4 Allroad or Merc E class wagon. Ridiculous lack of choice.

The 2024 is the current generation ones though they've stopped production of them so there will be a while before we see the 2025's - due after the Feb launch expect them around March.

It's the same length of the 2nd Gen X1 which I own. Is it worth trading? I owned a 2015 Mini Coupe prior and they seem more fun to drive than BMWs.

Interior, especially the dash has hard materials under the “cloth”, which is a downgrade compared to the F60. Switches for windows and start/stop are cheaper as well. Armrest has no space anymore. Speed gauge has been eliminated as well. Screen is excellent in responsiveness and feel, but I don’t like the absence of physical button for air conditioning, which I find frustrating while driving. It is significantly larger regarding leg space in the rear seats. Regarding the trunk I, it has less space below the floor, probably due to the batteries and also it has a “lip” on the edge which will make unloading luggages unnecessarily more difficult. Character-wise I believe that on the whole it’s very innovative, but it’s not a Mini anymore.

5” longer, 4” taller….that’s too much girth for me. Instead of competing with the likes of the Mazda CX-30, it’s now competing with the CX-5…it’s starting to lose its uniqueness and appeal.

That's what she said.... People seem to want bigger (again that's what she said).... Hopefully better sales will translate into getting more things for enthusiasts (manual transmissions - performance models, etc.) Worked for Porsche with the Cayenne and BMW with the X5. Cars like the 911 and M2 M3 likely wouldn't be here if those brands hadn't had a family hauler to sell.
