I have no idea about two Karmapas at the same throw! Does H.H. Dalay Lama recognised this second " bodhisatva"? There is great difference between these two persons, is it not? There we have already two Panchen Lamas: one in prison and second at beautiful throne. Maybe we will have two Dalay Lamas in the future?
It is not the role of Dalai Lama to recognize the incarnation of Karmapa - it is done by Shamarpa, And Lama Shamar Rinpoche recognized 17th Karmapa. Dalai Lama should should take care own lineage of dharma
