When Steve goes "Clay, you go shoot that damn bull" brought a smile to my face, that is a real friend, as disappointing as it may be not to harvest an animal yourself on one of these long hauls, there is no greater feeling than helping your friend's achieve their dreams and being able to share that moment together.
My dad shot a beautiful buck this week and he told me he wanted me to have gotten the buck. I told him no no that buck was yours all the way and I'm happier he got it than if I had gotten it. My dad's in his 70s and been hunting for over 50 years. That day had a smile ear to ear and the joy on his face was better than any buck I could have shot.
Clay “you have to stop giving people the shot and just take one.” Five minutes later Steve “I’m not shooting that bull, you get there and shoot it.” That’s class.
I love how ever hunt with these two clay always tells Steve to shoot it they argue and then Steve shoots it at the last chance they get. Steve put his foot down this time 😂
That’s the reason I love watching this show I love watching how excited he is about the harvest even if it’s not his he just is there for the good times and seeing others happy that’s why I love hunting can go out all day with my group I could get nothing but seeing one of them smiling ear to ear is all I need to keep me going back out especially when I see new hunters get there first deer or duck or whatever it is just makes all the time and effort worth it
Steve has evolved into that "older hunter" who get more joy out of helping someone else harvest an animal than he does harvesting it himself. Neat to see the evolution from those of us who have been watching since the "The Wild Within"
That smile Clays face when Steve was talking about going after it. A buddy that smiles and says lets go for it when you have a crazy idea is invaluable. Shows how good a dude Clay is. He was so excited for Steve to have a chance. Celebrate others victories as if they were your own.
Seeing steve light up like a kid on christmas when Clay harvested his first bull is what hunting is all about. Most stoked ive ever seen him! My favourite episode by far

Thank you Clay. Advancing toward a wounded animal. Speaking aloud' my safety is on'. Best 5 seconds of a hunting video I have seen in years. I've been teaching this for years. I can't believe the amount of 'safe' hunters who don't do this, amid high emotions and dangerous surroundings. Remembering safety in a stressful situation should be ingrained in the first days of hunting and carried thru for life. Great job Clay.
Being disabled now since 2021 due to COVID complications. My dream of hunting in Alaska for moose or even elk here in my hometown of Kentucky is over but I'm blessed to still be able to hunt whitetail thanks to my property. I live my dreams through shows like this one
@@ZippoMannSteve's show Meat Eater is on Netflix, they upload old episodes to youtube periodically. This is not a new episode, season 11 has been out for a long time now. Man I love watching Steve hunt with his friends. There's no better end to a video than you guys getting the animal you worked so hard for and then celebrating. You guys are true outdoorsman
Steve lives the absolute hunters dream. Hunts a crazy different amount of animals with all kinds of cool ppl all over the world. This dude lives my dream life. I’m strictly a bow hunter and he is an inspiration like no other.
I like the idea that maybe another hunter a few hundred years from now will find evidence of Steve and Clay having cracked open that Moose bone for its marrow with a rock. What an incredible hunt! Definitely one of my favorite Meateater episodes to date.

Steve, absolutely good on you for giving Clay the opportunity. I already respected the heck out of you and that went up 2 points after watching this. Congrats Clay!
Im so happy, guys. Just finished my weeks hunt in Africa and bagged a nice warthog. Im happy to see that somewhere across the ocean, there are two great guys also enjoying nature and the thrill of the hunt.I also wish to go there someday.
This episode was amazing. Captured everything about hunting. So awesome to see two good buddies both wanting the other to shoot and then the pure joy that just one of them was able too.
Being a Michigan man myself, I have a lot of love for Steve and the meat eater brand. But more than that he gifts me inspiration and excitement. I haven't hunted since I was a teenager and he in the mitten white tail is tradition. I'm now saving up for the required equipment to not only hunt again but get my 3 sons involved in hunting and out of social media. So, Thanks a million Steve, keep inspiring us please.
You made me a bit homesick. My first bull moose came from that river drainage system and I lived in Tok a few years. The credit’s confirmed my hunch. Good jobs boys.
I remember when the podcast came out that told this story and hearing how excited Clay was about the entire story. Now with moose season opening up in Ontario this gets me fired up right on time.
@shanechapman5574 I actually listened to the podcast of this episode on my way home last year from my own (unsuccessful) moose hunt in northern Saskatchewan. Talk about adding insult to injury!
That brought tears to my eyes, seeing how much hard work they put into this hunt, in order to have success with a trophy bull. That Michigan kid (Steve) knows how to guide and call for his friends. Thank you for the great work of putting this into a quality video. ❤
I admit that i often am the victim of jealousy when watching any given hunting video. However, this one may take the number one spot! Ranked right up there with an iconic Dall Sheep hunt. And to hunt with either of these two great hunters....i cant even imagine.

The scenery is so beautiful. I can imagine hundreds of years ago Natives were everywhere and plenty of game everywhere. Life was simple for the tribes back then. They raised their families to live in a simpler time when the English were never heard of nor seen. Freedom to hunt, fish, enjoy nature, and raise a family. To pass down from generation to generation each generation keeping their traditions alive. Moose would have been more plentiful along with other game. Some of the game are no longer in existence. The natives have been mostly wiped out due to the English. So, now in our generation, it is harder to hunt for game. It takes exactly what you guys did, patience. You did not rush the hunt. You used wisdom and vast knowledge in order to get the bull moose that you harvested. You guys did not give up and in your last hour of the hunt, it paid off big time. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! You and Clay worked great together and it paid off big time.
