If we honour God we wish to obey God. I find that obedience to God makes my life better. It is good to not want bad to happen to anyone, but a Christian is supposed to give whatever they can spare in money or time or effort to help someone in a bad situation so that nobody doesn't have enough of what God has blessed humankind with in this life. Also Christians are supposed to forgive even the person who murdered their family in the hope that that person will see that Christ was the example of God paying our debt of sin before we were faithful and chose to not sin anymore.
