Magical Tallinn Christmas Market Experience 2023

- Tallinn Christmas Market is possibly one of the best markets in Europe. It is as cute as a button and once the snow falls it transforms into this magical winter wonderland. In this episode, we get to explore the Estonian Christmas traditions as we make our way through this market: we drink mulled wine with Estonian herb-y liquor, we eat traditional Estonian Christmas dinner with blood sausage and sauerkraut, we see the inside of the 700-year old Town Hall and we visit the delicious exhibition where everything is made out of gingerbread.
This is a two-part video. Next week we will explore what other Christmas activities you can do in the Old Town. Get your skates ready wink-wink!

I got to visit the Tallinn Christmas Market 10 years ago and it looms large in my memory. Such beautiful goods at the booths - amber, knitted goods, wooden spoons, furs, fur hats. The food was delicious, too. Your wonderful video brings back such fun memories.

what day was the video taken ? is the snow always on Christmas ?
This video was shot on the second week of December. Usually (big focus on “usually”) there is quite a bit of snow around that time of the year but it also can melt within a couple of days if we get plus temperatures. Best keep an eye on AccuWeather forecast.

I've been visiting Krakow at Christmas for over 10 years.
But Tallinn is very much on my list for 2023.

I’m Irish married to a Russian. Married in the Hopneri Maia. We spent the pandemic in Tallinn. Love to spend Christmas there but my wife’s Schengen visa has been made invalid.
So we can’t travel to Estonia at all.
Can’t wait to visit again.
